Really good food if willing to explore since it's tasting menu only. Can only choose if vegetarian or not.

Service was great, plenty of people on hand working the floor and working as a single team on all the tables.

Good atmosphere and music with a warm decor

We had the 7 course menu with the wine pairing. Amazing. Every effort is made to give us a delicious experience. The staff is knowledgeable and eager to give us every details on what we're eating and drinking. Presentation of food is delicate but not pretentious. And the taste. Pure delight. After each service, we figured the next one would be not quite at par with that one. Nope. Consistently surprising.

About half the menu changes every 3 months or so. Don't wait too long. And go with the wine pairing, the sommelier knows her trade.

Fixed price menu, with very creative dishes. We opted for the largest menu, with seven courses. Setting is contemporary casual. Service was a bit slow at times, but overall, a great experience if you're adventurous and willing to try what the kitchen brings to you.

Wonderful ambiance and experience. Bartender Emile was excellent, with very creative and unique cocktails. Service was great and the food was phenomenal: fresh ingredients and unique blends that all came together perfectly. In five days in Montreal, this was the best food we had by far. Will come back and highly recommend.

In a supreme mecca for foodies, Ile Flottante rises above them all to be my #1 spot to savor and sip in the great city of Montreal. I vow to always dine here each and every time I visit the area and have been doing so for years. Way back when, we simply referred to it as “Two Monkeys” and considered ourselves blessed when we were able to score one a few select tables in a very intimate space. Now under a new name penned from their signature dessert and an expanded space that allows double the number of diners, they have focused on surprising their guests with gustatory delights imagined by a energetic and talented chef. Your plate will be a work of art with each bite holding so many layers of flavor that your will actually, and audibly, swoon. You make very few choices here and there is no menu per say, instead you leave yourself and every sense that you have in the capable and creative hands of the chef, sous chefs, and sommelier. Select meat or vegetarian and pick 3, 5, or 7 courses. Go for the 7 courses so you don’t leave regretful as your palate ponders what it may have missed.

This was one of the best meals EVER! Every course was spectacular, starting with pea soup re-imagined as sweet pea ice cream over a cold pea velouté topped with three marinated baby shrimp, followed by a riff on eggplant parm that was out of this world (roasted eggplant, with tomato compote and flash-dried basil leaves on a basil sauce not quite pesto). Next was a baby romaine and roasted pear, endive, and trumpet mushroom salad course paired with house made creme fraiche (what cream aspires to be if it is good), and then a course with roasted potatoes, deep fried artichokes, and a cheese based creme sauce that put any fondue to shame. The only real "meat" course was a piece of cod (sous vide?) paired with a salad bundle. Dessert was a melange of pine granita, creme fraiche ice cream, a pairing of maple cooking and maple meringue in the shape of maple leaves, a pecan crumble, and spruce spring garnishes...it may sound weird, but it was the most creative, tasty, and well balanced dessert I've ever had and expanded my horizons on what dessert can aspire to be.

The noise level and lack of of some "finery" may keep this restaurant out of the Guide Michelin, but that's a shame. I would put this restaurant on par in every other way with Arpege in Paris in terms of creativity, balance, savoriness, and vegetable-forward cuisine. THIS PLACE IS AN ABSOLUTE BARGAIN AS WELL.

Do not miss Île Flottante. My wife and I will come back to Montreal with the intent of eating there again, for sure.

When I specified to my waitress that I wanted a modestly priced cote du rhone from the menu, I did then feel pressure from the sommelier to upgrade. As soon as I made clear that I was sticking to my choice, she abandoned the effort and remained attentive to the table

Other than that brief moment of discomfort, our experience was perfect and we will not hesitate to return.
