Everything was outstanding the food, the service, the cocktails and the ambience. Plus - I had mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday and guest at table did not want a big deal about it... server and restaurant sent over a dessert with a candle but kept it low key ... it was great !!!
Highly recommend visiting this restaurant for any / every occasion!
The atmosphere of the bar feels like the Great Gatsby and the food is amazing. Chef Benno has another winner. The tomato risotto and mozzarella crocchette, the panzanella seasonal salad and the ricotta, spinach and pommarola ravioli were great. Top it off with the expert wine pairing of the sommelier and it was a wonderful evening.
Ambiance: Large open space, minimal seating and visible kitchen through glass partition. High ceilings, artdeco and modern lighting fixtures. Color theme includes bold yellows, greens, browns and brass... moderately elegant. Food: Italian/Romanian with some coastal fusion. Apps include beef & pork meatballs and grilled octopus which were amazing, but the pastas stole the show (order the linguine with clams and bacon!) The lime sorbet was an amazing end to the meal and incredible palate cleanser. Full bar, good wine list. Hospitality on point. Good for: daytime dates, business meetings, happy hour. Not a very sceney environment and nestled in the back of hotel lobby. Will be back.
A great meal and great service! Loved Sitting in front of the glassed in kitchen
Gracious service, lovely ambiance, very nice Italian food.
Great happy hour as Eater mentioned! Service at the bar was good but wait staff was a little over eager to clear our plates.
Leonelli just gets better and better. Warm, elegant yet still rustic takes on classics. A pleasing room and nice service rounds it off -- delicious and fun
Fantastic Meal all around. Great selection of sharable options and substantial pasta portions.
Bartender was outstanding.
Service was mediocre— appetizer arrived after main course was served. Thankfully they apologized. it was delicious, The main course was nothing special. Again they forgot the side dish we ordered.
There are so many outstanding restaurants in NYC... I would not return to Leonelli Taberna.
What a neighborhood gem! nice atmosphere, lively but not too loud, beautiful decor, good food and reasonably priced!
It was great service and tasty, traditional food! Only complaint was that they were closing early and didn’t notify us before hand so we felt a little rushed
It was a great dining experience.
I’ll book another dining date for the future and will highly recommend all the places at the Evelyn Hotel.
Delicious regional Italian dishes very well prepared and quite authentic. The space is a nice size, comfortable and cozy, not too big. We were seated at the back so it was quiet. Sunday evening was rainy so not too many customers. Our party of four ordered nearly every appetizer and each was very tasty and well presented. Our server was particularly attentive to the mushroom allergy of one in our party and was careful to confirm with the chef that there were none in any of our shared dishes.
I also had breakfast at the pastry and coffee bar in the same hotel. Don’t miss that! Excellent in every way
Cozy restaurant open to the lobby bar with modern yet retro decor. Excellent service and delicious, inventive yet simple plates. Friendly and welcoming. A large window to the kitchen allows you to see all the action without the noise.
Portions were very small and very mediocre. There were not many options, the service was great at first but then had a hard time getting any one's attention.
This is my second visit to the restaurant. I find the food very good and the service attentive. Last time I sat on the banquet and this time was seated in one of the black wooden chairs. The chairs are hard and uncomfortable, they do not add to the meal and detracted from my experience.
I am a huge pasta fan; but quite discriminating - I won't eat if not worth the calories. To my surprise at this casual but serious trattoria, the cavatelli with duck ragu produced by the kitchen was magical - one of the best I've ever had. The sauce glistened, but wasn't fatty. The ratio of ragu to pasta was good - plenty of tender duck pieces and an extremely well made, flavorful broth. Along with some lightly battered and fried fresh spring vegetables to start - my meal was memorable. Try to go Mon - Wed; as can get loud; but worth a trip to the Evelyn Hotel.
I had a really nice evening but expected better on the food front. From the many Italian options in the city, I happened on this place after reading that a well-known chef was involved. And there was a table. Authentic menu but some of it not particularly well executed, e.g. verdure fritte. On the plus side: interesting Italian wine list. Friendly and efficient service. Satisfying portions. Comfy booths, spacious and stylish venue.
the hostess was extremely friendly and I like the whole dining environment; the food was descent.
The food was terrific! I had a lamb steak that was AMAZING! My Old Fashioned was perfect. The service wonderful and I like that the manager came over and asked how everything was and told me a bit more about the cut of lamb. My only complaint is that the music was a bit too loud. I had been here before and found it to be a wonderful place to go for quiet, meaningful, intimate, conversations...unfortunately, this time that was not possible. Next time I’ll request that the music be turned down a notch. Thank you!
The food was fantastic!
Pleasant surprise for Sunday brunch.
Outstanding service and delicious food! My family was in town and I wanted them to have great food and experience a beautiful atmosphere, without any hesitation I thought of Leonelli Taberna with its Art Deco interior design. There were some new additions to the menu and the recommendations from the staff, were as usual quite delicious!
Really great ambiance, service, and food! Lasagne is a must!
First time there and definitely will be returning. Great meal, service. Love the open kitchen. Cara and John were great
This was such a wonderful treat! The menu is fabulous and the wine list was great.
Consistently good food and very attentive service.
Nice surprise. Lobby restaurant is well designed. When the bar is not crowded, Taberna is not noisy. While looking at menu were served warm, pizza bread. Yum. Lovely menu with varied options. Fish dish with leeks and tiny potatoes and charred eggplant both delicious. Server was charming and gentleman who cleared table had the nicest smile and was happy working there. Delightful dinner and would eat there again.
I booked a table for 2, but at the last minute found out there was a chance my son could join us. The hostess was so accommodating in switching us to a table for 3 just in case. As it turned out my son could not leave work and he missed an outstanding meal! To start, my husband and I shared the saffron/soppressata rice balls and the misticanza salad. The rice balls (3 sized perfect for sharing) were the lightest and crispiest I’ve had. I wouldn’t have minded a sauce on the side but perhaps that would have overpowered the saffron flavor. For entrees, we both selected the cauliflower ravioli - creamy, perfectly al dente, with a delicious hint of truffle. This is an outstanding dish - and the side order of spinach we shared was equally delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant for the warmth of the staff and the high quality and interesting food. There is also a great bar where we enjoyed a drink prior to our meal. We will definitely be back!
The food and service was outstanding. Particularly the branzino , rib eye ,and marrow
Great food and fabulous, friendly service! Definitely going back.
Such an incredible dining experience. Julie and the rest of the staff there will treat you like family. Could not recommend more highly!
Leonelli Taberna is one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to in NYC for a while. Every dish was very delicious and well prepared. Highly recommend.
Easy availability for last minute booking for dinner on the same day.
Really impressed. Work lunch and had great food and service.
Fantastic service and food that's better than the usual upscale Italian. The room is warm and welcoming, but with a slightly modern feel, and the nicely un-rowdy crowd is a good mix of older/younger/hipper/chiller. This place is a new go-to.
Excellent service and superb food.
Everything was cold from the beginning to the end. Food was ok nothing special.
A gem away from the NYC masses. Quality, style, and charm in a warm contemporary setting.
