Lenox Public Smokehouse
Do not eat here. They never got our order right and there were only our table of two and another table of three. In the end when they brougt us a check with food that we did not receive or order I told the waiter/manger/bartender what we were willing to pay and he accepted it. On the way out I told a couple who just sat next to us to leave.
This restaurant is located next to Red Rooster. Dingy looking, and really needs to be spruced up. I booked a reservation on Open Table but they ignored me when I told them and said that their computer wasn’t working. Toilets had no soap for you to wash your hands and wait staff, although pleasant seemed not to understand whatever was asked of them. Food was fine.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. I always bring people here. I’ve never been disappointed by the food. The service is good. At times it could be better but as I’ve said, I go here often.
First time having dinner with my bestfriend and I'm satisfied with my experience. The host was also our waiter and he was very attentive and if we didn't understand what was on the menu he either demonstrated or explained it very well. I would definitely recommend this place, and I'm a selective person so that counts for something haha.
Nice ambiance and a cozy spot for getting together with friends/family. The food was really good and I would recommend this place
I went there two years ago before the renovated and I was amazed how the service level and food quality dropped off. Nothing resembles a French boutique. We waited by the door upon arrival until the matre’ D helped Grubhub drivers first. Another guest had to get the management for us to be seated. The waiter was uninvolved and provided no menu support. They have a hophop club above the restaurant and the noise level depended out an otherwise uninspiring Valentine Day Dinner.
It was a bummer. Upon arriving for our reso we were told that there was no room for us in the dining room. We were sent to the upstairs speakeasy and unfortunately the bartender was not ready to serve a table. The food was cold (like physically cold) and took
Over an hour to come out.
It was a bummer bc it seemed like it would be delicious hot or warm!
Yes, I always do recommend it. I like it much better than the neighboring Red Rooster. I find my self at home at Chez Lucienne and the service and attentiveness from the staff is really warm and welcoming. I was waiting for friends at the bar and the 'pour' of my scotch was very generous. I like the bartender's vibe and he runs a very crisp place.
The waiter had a good sense of humor and understood everything on the menu. The food was delicious and portions generous. I had the chicken (an unusual choice for me) and I was very pleased about every aspect of it.
There were a lot of almost opened mussels in our order and the kitchen sent another complete order to make up for it. A slight 'miss' and handled with real graciousness.
It is difficult to be perfect but managing the situation perfectly is the real mark of quality and hospitality.
I won't hesitate to return as this is one of my 'go-to' spots in Harlem.
I don't necessarily have an issue with server, other than the fact that he was just inefficient. But I do have an issue with the owners and management. My boyfriend and I have been here twice and both times, we have received terrible service because there isn't anyone around to give it! The first time, we had a 3 hour longggg dinner on a standard, no-rush Tuesday evening. The second time, our last, we ordered a coffee and the server disappeared to accommodate people around the room and not coming back to check on us once. When we tried to order food, he stopped us at the appetizer and ran to greet people walking in then never came back. We waited to order our food for 45 minutes and by that point, saw that it was just not worth it because even our French Onion Soup hadn't come out yet. The server looked defeated when my boyfriend had to literally follow him around the restaurant to get the check, because I think he was kind of avoiding us given we looked very confused and upset. Management has to figure out their server schedule and train them to be a little bit more efficient when dealing with many tables at once.
Service was quite poor. The food was good but it took them quite a while to serve it although we were 2 out of only 4 customers when we got in. We got the bottomless Mimosa deal and they kept on forgetting to refill even after we asked several times. During the last round, we were only served orange juice after waiting 15min for our drinks but at that point we were too tired of the place to even say something, so we just paid and left. The place charges quite a lot for what it serves, it’s not good value.
Service and food were great.
First time back after new management and renovation. The layout is basically the same but with nicer banquettes that are tall on the ends lending privacy somewhat. The food is much improved and offers classic Parisian Bistro fare. Will go back.
Haven't been since the ownership change. The mussels remain excellent but the escargot appetizer was chewy & not as good as it used to be. Likewise, a fish entree was OK but not as good as we'd counted on in the past. Prices also have risen (especially wine. Even though they weren't completely full (surprising on a weekend evening), ambient noise was loud enough to make conversation a bit difficult. Overall: OK but there are better choices nearby.
The service was very slow we had a dinner reservation which was respected, they sat us right away, started with appetizers which were cold, the tomato tasted like it had gone bad. After the appatizers we left.
Had a great time -- good, authentic French bistro food. The boeuf bourguignon was perfect, and we enjoyed a very pleasant conversation with our waiter.
Kevin was super and the chef outstanding!
We went for brunch, the place and the food was perfect for a quiet relaxed brunch.
Nice and cozy and the steak is excellent. Been there a few times and always liked it.
The service was great and the food was delicious. And the bottomless mimosas were icing on the cake. A perfect birthday brunch!
The only concern I had was that there was a guy that came in with a boxer dog and sat at the bar. I didn't feel as though this was the appropriate place for the dog especially since they had outside seating. This same person was watching a football game that was on the TV on mute and he would get really loud when his team scored. The staff wasn't as stern on him as I would like and it even got to the point where patrons told him to be quiet as this was not the type of bar for him to do that in.
This was my second visit, and the food and service were average. I did not like the music at all. On my first visit in early 2017, the food, service, music, and atmosphere were wonderful!
Great ambiance and great food. Good menu. But service was inconsistent. Waited over 40 minutes for entree and finally cancelled it. Diners next to us got served much faster than we did. But food was great and so was the scene in the restaurant.
The food is too expensive for its low quality. The restaurant smelled like old and the bathroom smelled like an airplane toilet. A tiny tea costs $3.75 and the croque monsieur $16 and it's just bread with cheese and ham plus a salad with fries. Not worth the hike.
Food was lackluster. My mussels were so tiny inside they should not have been served. The burger was fine. The steak was well seasoned. The fries were frozen. There are better French Bistros in Harlem, Maison Harlem for example. Wish I'd chosen that restaurant this past Friday.
The food was incredible! Service started slow but ended up fantastic! Great ambience, great Happy Hour!!!!! So impressed!
Where do I begin? When I think about going to a French restaurant, I think of decadent, beautifully prepared food. The endive salad was OK, but the whole leaves forming the display were edged in brown. The lamb was a huge portion of tough, thinly sliced chops that were mostly bone (tasted like an undernourished stray animal). With a larger plate and a grownup knife, it might have been possible to cut it and eat it without pieces shooting all over the place. My cousin did point out that "wine fixes everything." He was partly correct, but he had to ask the waiter to bring the bottles to the table, as the wine menu had no years. For beer drinkers, the selection is a joke. France is not known for beer, but why not have one or two Alsatian or Belgian ales? The noise from the bar was deafening (7pm on a Friday night) and the ginormous TV screens were distracting. Rather than chance dessert we went to Whole Foods and bought some ice cream. I didn't see the bill, but I was embarrassed that my cousin was actually paying for this.
I was not satisfied with my soupy lobster Mac and cheese that had frozen seafood in it..
Great service, great food, great time! Who could ask for more.
We were disappointed . Although the atmosphere is still great and the service was good the food has gone downhill. It is really too bad because we used to love this place.
Server genevesse (spelling, in Spanish Hennessy) was terrible. Poor Atticus, service - made the overall experience subpar. Food was mediocre and would have dealt if service was standard.
Pleasant experience. Food was good (3 of us had the duck0 and the tomato soup was good. Service was attentative.
It was great!! Great food. Great drinks and service. Glad it reopened.
They were over their heads! They could not keep up with the orders - long wait - wrong food brought or no food for one person in our party. Drinks were not good, bar tender (upstairs) didn't seem to care of the mixed up soda lines. Manager was very apologetic and discounted bill. On a good note the food that we did receive was delicious and priced well.
We had a very good meal in a fun atmosphere. the food was interesting and well prepared. Service very friendly. Enjoyed talking with some of the people at the bar as well about old music greats we had seen over the years.
It was a gathering of friends, family and business associates/ friends meeting to celebrate knowing each other as well as celebrate the season. As indicated in the pull down menu the experience was sublime with immaculate attention from beginning to end. The food was superlative and the associate that attended to us was impeccable in his attentiveness they our party with a very amendable gregarious demeanor. This is a must visit again for 2018.
Chez Lucienne drink was awesome and food was good also, outstanding value
Very good food and service. We were there for a business lunch and we were able to stay and have extended conversations. No one rushed us out.
Seems like the perfect, neighborhood haunt ~ small and intimate, with nicely coordinated menu and affordable. My son in law had the lamb and he practically moaned in ecstasy. My nephew had the burger and he said it was "good" but not as good as Madison Harlem. Primarily because it was a teeny smaller and the bread, while good as a bit dried out. He also commented on the amount of fries came with the dish. My daughter had the lobster Mac & Cheese and she gave two thumbs up. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the nice, comfy setting and the food was definitely worth returning for.
The food was of Mediocre quality, poorly executed dishes. Overly priced for the quality. Far cry from the first restaurant.
