second time I've been there recently and worst food I've had downtown on both occasions recently
Great Art-Deco design, huge windows to people watch - Service was fast and friendly and food was really good - I think next time I would try the burger or steak and frites - 5 people for Brunch with a main/cocktail/café/churros each came to $350.00 incl tax/tip.
Lena was an amazing place to experience. The food was outstanding and the service was great.
I would highly recommend this restaurant.
A fantastic dinner. Went to a play at the Elgin and they paced our meal accordingly. Would recommend for sure
Unique, tasty dishes! Excellent, friendly service!
Beautiful restaurant. Excellent service by Kevin. My friend, who has lived in Italy for most of her life, says the Burrata appetizer is the best cheese she’s ever had.
Found and ambiance are very nice. Location is hard to beat for post-work dinner or a pre-show meal. Service was very aloof, hard to get attention, probably overworked.
Niece’s birthday dinner. A little loud but food and service were wonderful. I will definitely be a repeat diner.
I had not been to Lena in a few years. I found that the service overall was very poor - I had to keep flagging down the waiter if I wanted anything, from the food order to drinks. While the pasta meal was ok (it said linguini on the menu but it was NOT linguini) it was not worth $25.00, especially considering the small portion. I will not be returning.
Food excellent but service quite poor as one of our guests main course was messed around with. However, Lena did compensate for the mix up.
Upper dining area has no ambiance and disappointed to have had my reservation put upstairs.
I brought my friend to try Sunday Brunch at Lena. I love that the menu is unique and the ambience is lovely. It is such a special place.
Service was a bit slow (on Saturday night with the theatre crowd in ahead of us), but our server, Jevin, was very helpful. All of our food was very good, but not "ya gotta try this place" outstanding. NET: very solid choice for a nice dinner out.
We expected a menu of south American flavour, only sharing tapas were enjoyable save the jamon that was unfortunately not the quality stated... we returned it with no hassle and were not charged for it. The churros were a delicious dessert. Wine was also good. Excellent service.
It was ok; noisy, our waiter brought the bill though we didn’t ask for it and ordered after she had brought the bill - it seemed she wanted us to leave.. though there were no people..
Although I’ve been to Lena for lunch on a few occasions, it was my first time for dinner. I believe that booking a table through OpenTable resulted in our unfortunate placement - literally between both kitchen doors. It was a the worse location in the whole place and possibly the noisiest. My guests were appalled and downright disappointed by the table and by the service. Our waiter was great but little to no busboys clearing our table... the manager’s mother delivered our mains without anyone clearing the starter plates... she was annoyed that I cleared and stacked them so she could put our mains on the table. All in all, I’m disappointed at the service and decision to locate us between two kitchen entrances. No doors to prevent the noise from the kitchen from impacting my guests. As we are all over 45, the noise level was unpleasant. And for a restaurant on the higher price range, that’s a major error in judgment. The food was delicious but not South American... as my guests described it as typical Canadian fare, the restaurant doesn’t deserve to charge as much as they do. We chose not to have dessert as we couldn’t enjoy the food as much due to the noise level. Choose another restaurant instead, preferably one that is truly South American as that’s what we expected.
Unfortunately the ambiance outweighs the food. We ended getting refunds on 3/5 meals. The prices for what you get are absurd, yes, even for Toronto.
We were in the dining room, and while the food and service was good, it’s a poor set up. Kitchen supplies were being carried through the restaurant on a regular basis which detracted from the ambience. We enjoyed the meal itself but we won’t go back.
Lena is really nice visually, but the menu could have more vegetarian options. I ordered the salmon and found it to be slightly undercooked. Perhaps it was meant to be like that but I felt sick eating it, so I had to trade meals with my partner who liked seafood more raw and even he found it underwhelming. But regardless, I'll probably try something else next time. The restaurant is really nice so definitely give it a try (keep in mind it's not vegetarian friendly though).
The empanadas, mojito and service were Outstanding. The steak came somewhat cold for both of us. Still we’ll come back for the empanadas and mojito well worth the trip.
I went for lunch with friends. We ordered 2 apps and mains. It took them 45 minutes to bring the mains (two sandwiches and calamari!) because "we didn't request to bring them at the same time (as we ordered "courses"". The waiter was ok, but pretty arrogant. Food is good and the place is nice, but be aware of the service.
Food is delicious and innovative. Loved their interpretation of Cobb salad. Fun atmosphere but noisy
The attentive service was remarkable, but not intrusive. It was very nice to see a south american restaurant in Toronto that even knows how to slice Jamon Iberico properly, a la espanol! Well done chefs and servers.
Right from the beginning service was awful. We had a reservation and upon arriving there were empty tables everywhere, yet they did not seat us and were very rude. The food took a little over an hour to arrive at the table. The food was ok. I will not return.
Picked it on a whim and it was a great experience. The waiters suggestions were delicious. Even the alternate wine to the one they didn't have was incredible.
We loved the interior and location but were seated at a table in a tight corner of the banquet, which was uncomfortably close to our neighbours. Our waiter greeted us and took an order for appetizers but not for drinks. We waited and were served the appetizers but our waiter never came back for the drink order. We had to get the attention of another waiter to order drinks. The food was quite good but we found the romaine salad overly fishy.
Lena has great atmosphere but we found the service confusing and our table location alienating and too small.
Overall experience is great. Foods are delicious and service was great. I didn't give a 5 stars rating as I think that should be reserved for something that is outstanding and mind blowing.
Lunch hour business meeting, very slow service, asked for bread got 4 slices of bland dry bread and was charged $5! Drinks were meh, luckily this wasn’t a boozy lunch only 1 each as they were small and $16 each! Grilled calamari was in a bed of weird lettuce/grass that was NOT kale and soaked in oil - it was so unappetizing and unhealthy. Food was very gross and super overpriced even for an O&B restaurant. Do NOT go here.
Not a “woa” food or experience. The best was the Chimichurri sauce. Very expensive for the very little food served.
Food quality increase...pasta undercooked. Portion a bit small. More food variety
We had a reservation for 815, but arrived a bit early (around 7:40) the hostess seemed offended and refused to seat us despite a slow restaurant. She insisted she wouldn’t be able to seat us until our reservation time. We said we’d sit at the bar to wait and she said she only had two seats together as if she expected us to go wait outside in the cold. We found a spot for the three of us. At the bar, I went into OpenTable and updated our reservation and then she was suddenly able to seat us. It was terrible form for a hostess. Then the food was then just okay as was the service which just just couldn’t make up for the terrible experience when we arrived. A bit of a dissapointment, after a positive brunch experience here a few months ago.
We were seated in an upstairs room by the kitchen - most unimpressed. Server was attentive but kitchen was slow. Food was good, not great and small portions for cost.
Beautiful decor, average food, slow and error prone service (brought bread placed on an omelette for a celiac guest, water glasses were frequently empty, coffee arrived lukewarm etc). It's not a terrible spot, but doesn't pass my classic "would I go back" test
Our appies were great, but none of our mains hit the mark.
Good food. Thought we could order off the lunch and not brunch menu on the weekend but it was still lovely. Staff were nice. Took a while for someone to take our order. Quite loud
Great atmosphere with great food and service.
Although the space is very nice - sadly I have to say I was very disappointed in the food. Our lunch was $163.00 (without tip) and I can honestly say for that money we would have had a better lunch at another restaurant. My Colleague didn't finish her chicken as it was dry and my pasta was aligned with something that I would have received at the Olive Garden. The appetizers were nothing to talk about; our Waiter was very nice, however I would not recommend this restaurant to someone who is interested in food with a burst of flavour and uniqueness - my experience at Lena is on par with a chain food restaurant.
everything was good but the music was so loud we couldn't really talk even after we mentioned it to the staff, in fact it seemed louder after. Not good at all.
Love the look. Nice deal on the cocktails. Service was friendly, but nothing to brag about. Food was salty and servers weren’t really engaged with the menu to offer insight or suggestions. It was just a “can I take your order” type of deal.
