Seafood
Legasea combines a top-tier seafood menu with a fun-casual atmosphere for an entertaining dining experience that is to be expected from TAO Group. Executive Chef Jason Hall (formerly of Craft and Gotham Bar & Grill) and TAO Group Partner/Chef Ralph Scamardella have transformed classic seafood favorites, like the Clam Bake, into unique and shareable dishes designed for groups. Legasea is focused on its food offerings, serving up local, sustainable seafood of the highest quality, as well as delicious options for those not so marine-inclined, like the aptly named Steak Night. A lively, nautically-inspired setting brings the restaurant together to provide guests with an unforgettable evening full of good food and good company.

We came for a birthday celebration and it was terrific. As 3 middle aged ladies, we wanted someplace mellow, that we could talk and not have to shout, or be cramped. The setting was perfect for us. Surprisingly 2 small children came in towards the end of our meal and were a little disruptive. The food was excellent, I had sea scallops, my friends had fra diavolo pasta. Probably the best scallops I've ever had. The service was perfect, except it took several minutes to get sugar, creamer and spoons after the coffee was served-and we needed to ask. We tried 3 different desserts, all were good. The chocolate birthday cake was the winner. We're making plans on when we can return. This was a special occasion, so paying more wasn't a problem. I wouldn't pay those prices on a daily basis.

Food was great, service was good until they cleared our dinner plates and we waited almost 20 minutes for the waitress to come back with a check. Super noisy, not a great place to have a conversation.

Went for lunch during the week. The salad with salmon my dining companion had looked decent. The pastrami rueben with kale that was suggested by the wait staff was very salty and difficult to eat due to the extremely toasted bread that was more like biting into a crouton than piece of bread. Combined with the chips, it was like eating a lick of salt unfortunately. I should've gone burger as was my inclination...my fault.

The largest issue for me though was that 2 people who had a salad and a sandwich with no drinks, apps, or dessert still went for $55 plus tip. That's a little high given the day-part, food selection, and portions. Even if the food was amazing, I'd still feel a little taken advantage of.

The food and service was OUTSTANDING! The best octopus. The only item I would suggest that needs improvement is the calamari and zucchini dish. The music selection was nice but a little too loud. Other than that I will come to this restaurant again. Actually very soon.

The food was good, especially seafood pasta and spinach side dish. We had some appetizers, and no utensils were provided to apportion the food among our group. Our drink orders arrived late but the waitress realized this and provided us a free round to compensate.

Solid service - decent food pricing - wine was a little heavy - looks like a 4X multiplier on your bottles?

Great place. A little on the pricey side, but food and dessert were excellent. Staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. Was in a rush to catch a train out of Penn (which is a few blocks away) to JFK so I could make my flight home. Explained the situation and they made sure we got out with time to spare. Coming from an interior design background, I feel I also need to mention how impressed I was by the styling of this place. It's easy for designers to go overboard (pun intended) with obvious choices in a seafood place, but whoever they hired for this did an amazing job at keeping this place understated and elegant. Beautiful reclaimed subway tile on the walls, a really cool hex-tile for the floors, some neat vaguely-nautical-but-not-overwrought-or-tacky pendant fixtures, lovely bar design... On my way to the restroom I also spotted a private room in the back that I assume can be reserved for larger parties and special events. 10/10. Would recommend. Will definitely come back to Legasea next time I'm back East.

It was ok but very expensive for what we had. We were two, and had a starter and main course, and a glass of wine each and I had a local beer. The bill came to $206 plus they’d suggested a 22.5% tip, so we decided to ignore that and paid $30 cash to the waitress. We’re quite surprised how expensive restaurants are, especially in hotel locations. Eat out at a high street restaurant- it’s better value

Legasea was a nice “find” on Opentable. The restaurant was lively and upbeat but not overly loud so as not to carry on a normal conversation. Service was Great! Allison our server was very friendly well versed in all the offerings as well as their signature cocktails. All the food was excellent from appetizer to entree. My Tuna tartare was very good.
The entree of diver scallops was ver well prepared, tasty and did done to perfection. All in all , it was an enjoyable evening.

There was nothing bad about Legasea and also nothing great. There were three of us, we each ordered appetizers, mains and one dessert and nothing stood out. Everything was ok. The one thing that did stand out was a waitress who spoke so softly we had to frequently ask her to repeat herself.

I expected more from the Tao Group. The food, although the server raved about the crab beignets and the entrees we chose, were little more than just ok. I initially chose the Seafood Marinara with lobster, shrimp, and scallops, and was presented instead with a dish loaded with tough calamari and octopus (NOT on the menu). If there was any lobster or scallops or shrimp, they simply had been marched past the pot on their way to somewhere else. I ordered mussels instead, and they were fine., nothing more. Awkwardly served in a pot that came almost to my chin, and with two small pieces of soggy bread, it was ok but nothing special or even close. My friend's pasta dish was also fine, but nothing more. It was a Saturday night, early enough not to be too crowded, so no excuse there for slapdash entrees.

It’s ok for a quick meal. But I was expecting more variety of seafood dishes from a seafood restaurant. Also I’m used to a big pile when I order fried calamari. This was mostly fried veggies with some calamari. But the food was very good tasting.
