Food was great. Service was slow. Received wine after the food was delivered.
Great host. Sexy and intelligent. Reception was amazing. Food was very good and a lot. Margarita from Hell was a true delight!
Everything we had was excellent! Our server was attentive without being nosy.
We were happy with the food and service. Satisfactory portion sizes for the cost. Our server brought us complimentary bowls of clam chowder “just because,” which was a welcome and appreciated surprise!
From the ease of online reservation, to the friendly and knowledgeable of her job and menu waitress, to the playful, delicious and fresh cocktails and food, I’d recommend this restaurant with my eyes closed! The only thing I’d like to see improved would be the host or hostess’ appearance. The hostess was in a too-sporty, more-diner-or bar-like gym attire which clashed too loudly with the casual-to-formal ambiance of LTK. Other than that, this is a place I’d like to go back to!
Service was sub par. Our waiter greeted us by asking Do you want anything to drink besides water? Never bothered to introduce himself or greet us. We thought his aim might be to use the minimum number of words while interacting with us throughout the night
The food was average. We ordered grilled swordfish kabobs and grilled salmon. It took quite a while for the waiter to return to our table to clear the dishes and bring our check.
Went for Valentine's Day. Food and cocktails were excellent. Seating not great for 2, a bit cramped with a small table. Service also hurried us thru the meal, and brought me a second salad with my entree instead of asking if I'd like another side. No issues at all with the cuisine however, was delicious!
Service was great, menu selection mediocre, weeknight so noise level was perfect and wine selection was decent.
Shrimp over cooked. Food was salty. Expensive in terms of the food quality.
You'll just never get anything but a great meal at Legal's, especially if you are a seafood lover. We have frequented many Legal's and were hoping to find a menu here at the Test Kitchen that had a bit of the unusual fare, but the menu was ordinary. Excellent, but ordinary. Service was just terrific, and the staff were pleasant and friendly.
Great Lobsta roll
The only lacking part of this dining experience was the service. After 10 minutes of having been seated, I had to get up and go find a server to get menus and water. Unacceptable at a restaurant like this. Other than that, the food and atmosphere were good.
Rude waiter and poor service
Were put at a small table by bar
Place was crowded
Service was very good. They forgot one dessert but they got it out fairly quickly when they discovered their mistake and then waiter insisted on taking the charge for our clam chowders off the bill.
Our entrees were both delicious/ I had goat cheese crusted cod and my husband a special with crab cake, shrimp and scallops
Everything was as it should be
This is a great spot, especially if you are staying at the Marriott. Great food, good service.
Food was good. Disappointing that LTK still doesn’t offer ice cream bonbons for dessert.
Very good! I got the mixed grill, the swordfish was amazing! The steak was a little chewy but flavor good. Bread was tasty as well!
Overall, very good. But we had one service issue. One of us ordered soup and one an appetizer. The soup never came.
I don’t usually leave reviews, but the food and experience was just bad. One person in our party had a shellfish allergy and the staff tried to be as accommodating as they could, but there weren’t many options that would work for her. Do not order the paella.
The food was very good as was the service. The problem was the loud thumping music and screaming children ruined the meal for us.
The food was ok, but I didn’t feel like it was anything new or exciting.
We (three of us) went to LTK for Christmas Eve supper after attending Christmas Eve Mass. It ws perfect -- loved the atmosphere and the food. It reminded us that we don't come to LTK often enough. Perhaps that will changed in 2018.
Very disappointing. The scallops were over cooked and rubbery, nothing like the fresh scallops that we expected. Even though swordfish kabobs are a regular menu item, they could not be added to a salad since they were not one of the “allowed” add-ins. The waiter had to be asked several times to bring the bread and was unfriendly until he brought the check and then was Mr. Congeniality hoping for a good tip. We have been there several times before and it was much better both food and service wise so that made this trip even more disappointing. Do not plan to return.
It was loud and dirty. Could not understand waitress, noise level was loud. Food was okay but would not recommend to anyone. Very disappointed.
We arrived and the host was sitting at the bar. I asked aloud if we just seat ourselves and then he came over to seat us, which seemed to annoy him. The restaurant was relatively empty for a Saturday night. Only 2 other tables were full.
There were 4 of us in our party. We asked the waiter a few questions about the drink menu and he was visibly annoyed and told us they couldn't make anything that wasn't exactly as it was on the menu. Continued to ask the waiter more questions about the menu and he walked away from the table.
Once he finally returned, we ordered cocktails and appetizers. The pretzel and lettuce wraps were good- one person at our table has a shellfish allergy and we were told she couldn't eat any of those.
I ordered the Wok Seared XO Lobster & Shrimp. The waiter said it was spicy. It was not. Generally it lacked flavor and was more like greasy Chinese food. The waiter came around to ask if we wanted another round of drinks. I said yes and grabbed the menu to make sure I used the appropriate name, but by the time I looked up, he had already walked away. He came back 5 minutes later and I ordered my second drink, 'Tito in a Speedo'. The ice was overflowing out of the glass and there was barely any drink. When I mentioned this to the waiter, he said, 'I'll go get my manager' and walked away. The manager arrived and informed me that's how the drinks are made and there was nothing he could do about it. Then he walked away. No apology, no discussion, complete dismissal of my opinion. I would think the manager of an empty restaurant would want to ensure that his customers were happy and enjoying their food and beverages in his restaurant. Instead, this manager didn't care that his customers weren't happy. He didn't care that we were customers period. I dine out a lot and have never had an experience quite like this. Will not be returning.
Very good food for a reasonable price. As good and comparable as it's older sister, Legal Seafoods.
Only the best food for high school classmates I haven't seen in 25 years. Unfortunately, I don't know why restaurants prefer to have the music loud enough we need to raise our voices in order to hear each other.
Food was good over all. My paella was more of a seefood dish than a paella. The service was very good and the experience was good.
We were received and seated right away. All staff were friendly. And best of all... the food was fantastic!
We had to use our phone flashlights to read the menus! It was so dark! The waitress was hitting on my friend which was Awkward!
Excellent food, very good service, yet we were surprised that the lunch prices were as high as they were. A few of the items could drop their price by only a dollar to be a more attractive lunch alternative.
Busy, lively and great ambience! Neighbouring tables are a little close but the food more than makes up for it - swordfish kabob was delicious.
Loved visiting LTK! The mac and cheese was amazing and the clam chowder was spot on. I would definitely be back for happy hour and to try other things on the menu. It was slightly loud but to me, that's a sign of folks having a great time, which we definitely did.
Good food, creative menu. Has a decent vibe, but service was a bit slow.
My wife and I had a great meal here.It was in the middle of the busy Seaport area. It is very close to the Seaport Hotel near the convention center. Our favorite part of the meal was the desert. You cannot bypass the Keylime pie.
Wonderful surprise! Didn't realize the Test kitchen Legal Seafood had a different menu from a regular Legal Seafood but after arriving we decided to stay and try it out. Very happy we did! So much more creative and different than eating from the regular menu we are used to at Legal Seafood. We ate on the outside enclosed patio - so much quieter than the main room which we liked. Started with the calamari with hot peppers which was lightly breaded and very tender. My Tuna Tempura was delicious and my husband's seafood platter was just a as good. Had a pear sangria cocktail that was also refreshingly different. And best of all our server Althea was a delight and spot on with service. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area and we look forward to going back.
Family from out of town enjoyed wide range of menu selections and it was a relaxed and unhurried evening.
Great service. Excellent food. Friendly and pleasant environment.
Our server didn't know we were seated untl we were there for 20 minutes so that was inconvenient. Other than that the food and drinks were fantastic. It's very dark and you sit in close proximity to others
