Legal Sea Foods - Short Hills Ratings and Reviews
I ordered the Shrimp Casserole with the Jasmine Rice. The rice was sticky, the casserole was over cooked, stuck to the pan, and extremely dry. I was at the Short Hills location with my husband for date night, had been wanting to there for a while...wanted some real seafood, not the Red Lobster stuff.
Unfortunately, my food was horrible, I actually missed the Red Lobster stuff, and had at $90+ bill to pay for terrible food. I will NEVER go there again! I guess I will have to go to the shore to get good seafood.
Another bad lunch, this will be my final meal here. It has become such poor quality. I always get the Crispy Fish Sandwich. The fish was not crispy and cold. They remade it for me which was better but this seems to always happen. I even had to stop getting fries because they tasted like cardboard. I will never patronize this establishment again!
A little break from the exhausting routine...lunch was great. We had fun. The Mrs had tuna burger...was really good but portion a bit much for her (but she rose to the occasion). The spiced crusted tuna is an option for rare grilled tuna on the lunch menu...perfect! Service quite excellent today. Recommend.
You know what you get when you come to LSF. No matter what LFS you take food is always good and quality same. I have found that service varies in places. Here it is always somehow slow even waitresses running all the time. About the food, lobsters are always good choice and you cannot choose wrong from catch from the day list.
Restaurant is beginning to look a little old and dark. Steamers were wonderful. Reduced fat chowder was stocked with fish and potaotoes but could use alittle more favor. Sangria was very good. Lunch was very nice but honestly the value was not there. I go out all the time for lunch oftern in the city at great restaurants. This restaurant in a mall was overpriced. Had soup, shared steamers, small wedge salad and a glass of sangrai and came out to over $50. I go out almost everyday, that is too much for what we had.
I am sure I will be back because it is a convenient location . I think they should consider a lunch price fix like $36 .
The only thing good was our waitress. Too bad she had to serve such poor food. The hostess in charge was rude. She ignored our reservation and seated others with reservation times after ours. One of the waiters had a Rastafarian hair do down to the middle of his back. New Years Eve was very disappointing.
This is our, "Go to" restaurant when we are in the mood for great seafood. Great atmosphere, great service, great food! Fantastic bar drinks and specialty cocktails. Like their watermelon martini! Awesome oysters and there is normally a choice of several varieties. They are perfectly shucked and delicious and fresh. Served on ice with cocktail sauce and horseradish. I can easily suck down a dozen before my meal. For that I always go for the 1.5 lb steamed lobster. For my two sides I usually get the mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. Rarely have room for dessert so I usually end things with a fresh cup of espresso. Perfection from start to finish!
LSF is pretty consistent. Grill menu is always a sure thing. The Mrs had the seafood puttanesca special ... homemade pasta was excellent. I had grilled halibut (as usual). It takes know-how to prepare it so well. I looked at fresh halibut in the grocery store and concluded the LSF price is reasonable.
We agree that LSF reminds us of visit to CIA in Hyde Park last year.
I have been visiting Legal ever since I moved to the US way back in 2004. Had many meals in the restaurant at Cambridge that were always great. Then, moved to NJ and have been frequenting the Short Hills location often. Now, I live in Philly and my friend (who lives in Jersey) felt it may be a good time to go back.
I was REALLY disappointed. Three things. One- the service took a while. Two- my double stuffed baked shrimp was way over-done and totally dry. I somehow kept washing in down with water. Three- there was no sense of personal attention that I am used at Legal Seafood.
I might need to think twice about going there again.
Came on Christmas Day and had 2 large lobsters and a Guinness! It was really tasty and filling. Warm rolls were good and service was great aside from having to wait for our table despite having a reservation but it was packed on Christmas Day and 5:30 seemed to be rush hour...
I've dined here many times. One of my all time favorites! Never had a bad experience. The oysters are some of the freshest I've ever had and the poached butter lobster roll is to die for. The best! The service is always so prompt and friendly too. Highly recommend!
Had a really nice dinner seated at the bar. Rest of restaurant was crowded and very loud but seating at bar was great. Light chowder was very flavorful and grilled shrimp entree was delicious. Enjoyed sitting at bar interacting with staff. Very pleasant evening.
