It was memorable. The Cajun halibut special was just perfect as was the crab cake combo.
LSF is not cheap but it is an excellent value. It’s doesn’t get better at any price.
I have been going to Legal Sea Foods Short Hills for 10+ years. While the food continues to be good, the service has dramatically deteriorated over the past year especially at reception. They overbook, resulting in increasingly long wait times in crowded settings for those who have reservations. Reception staff is rude and only focused on their computer screens and seem totally out of their league.
Great food and atmosphere
Always reliable and consistent. Our waiter Nader was superb and charming. Excellent seafood.
My husband and I were first-timers to the restaurant and though we made reservations, we enjoyed eating at the bar. We had a very nice barmaid who helped us make our beer and dining choices. We ordered oysters as an after- thought and they were awesome. Highly recommend them and their descriptions in the menu fit them to a T!
We’ve eaten at the Short Hills location before, and I was specific when making the reservation and asked for a booth. We were seated in a booth by the bar, and it was THE worst! Noisy and on a very busy aisle and were told nothing else was available! Nothing worst than having to listen to the bar patrons’ conversation and the more they drank the louder they became! However our server was pleasant and attentive! Won’t return anytime soon!
My husband and I enjoyed a delicious meal at Legal Seafood!!
Enjoyed business lunch as LS is consistently good, not cheap but good food usually is not. Had tri calamari and grilled salmon. Sides were a little cold and replaced. Overall pleasant experience.
We have gone to Legal Seafood for 10 years +. And were quite happy, The food still is good but now the service is becoming terrible: the reception lady was fascinated by her PC screen and did not take care of us, the barman visibly does not like is job as he is permanently unsmiling and looks very upset, the waitresses are not duly trained and the service is very rustic ... but at least they are smiling and nice . Well ? this place is on the hedge.
Had not been there in a couple of years. The food was really tasty but the wait with a reservation was not what I expected.
Consistently excellent food, knowledgeable server, DeShawn. Service was attentive not hovering. Cocktails well crafted. Raw bar well stocked.
Legal never disappoints: fresh, hot, tasty fish; polite and professional service; good seating and ambience - and decently priced!
The food was not tasty. The one at Garden State Plaza mall was better. Waste of money and time.
Few options now at the short hills mall, food was just mediocre. Waiter was great he made the experience.
Not impressed by the food. Think it is overrated.
always a solid brunch choice! We can always rely on good seafood and service!
Oysters are great, fresh, much of the time shucked correctly. Service is mixed. This time, the wait person was rushing us a bit, which takes away from the meal.
We had lunch at Legal Seafood. The service and food was great . The orders are made up to your liking
The food was absolutely delicious and the waitress was more than wonderful to us.
Always good! Food is very consistent.
Food is always good here. The hostesses were a bit lost when it came to seating us. We had reservations, they told us that it got busy so they can't seat us eventhough there were plenty of tables available. A minute later, the manager asked why we were waiting and immediately sat us down at a table. The server provided great service so the issue was with the two clueless hostesses.
Our waitress was so helpful and sweet. I have celiac disease and she was knowledgeable on the items and knew about cross contamination issues, which were not a problem here. Overall, good experience. Thanks!
Excellent food - loved it every.single.time. Fish is fresh, service is on point. I would go here more often if it was closed to where I lived.
Food was good and would definitely go back again, only thing was it was quite expensive.
The freshest fish choices with great accompaniments. Always great service.
Great food. Just expensive. We had the baked stuffed lobster to treat my mother. I am happy to spend money on her, but this was over $50 for 1.5 pond lobster. However, she had a great time and our server was super nice.
Birthday dinner for my 15 year old daughter. Food was fantastic. Would have been nice if they put a candle on a desert, but probably the hostesses never told the server or they didn’t look at the note on the open table reservation.
Food was very good. We had the scallops and shrimp. The waiter provided good service. When we arrived, the restaurant was very busy and loud. We were not able to sit and relax. The food came out quickly. While some times this may be good, we were looking for a more relaxing evening.
I can't recommend this restaurant.
We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation. Were told by host that our table wasn't ready. That is perfectly fine because we were early. We decided to get a drink at the bar while we waited. An adequate offering of wines were available. The bar service was pleasant. Three minutes after sitting at the bar. The host begins shouting our name to indicate that the table was ready. Why not tell us a few minutes prior that the table wasn't ready, but would be in mere minute, when we mentioned that we were grabbing a drink while waiting. But within seconds of calling our name, the host nearly gave away our table.... all the while- still before our reservation time. So, the host was a bit rude.
But the bigger complaint is the value-
The food quality does NOT warrant the price charged. Its pretty decent, but it came out cold and the portion was too small.
Summary : rude host makes a bad first impression, only average food quality and $$ prices means that I won't return.
Terrible service. We were brought the wrong dinners; so bad the manager had to comp our entrees.
Great service by our waiter. Food was great too. Only glitch was our request for a booth supposedly wasn’t able to be fulfilled yet we noticed that they say another couple in the open booth we mentioned when they had sat us elsewhere. So much for requesting a booth in the reservation.
Fine for dinner but wouldn’t recommend for special occasion. They said they were seating us at booth and then put us at a table in noisy area. Although I noted it was an anniversary, no one asked if we were celebrating anything special nor was anything special done. Food and service was good.
I have always been a fan, but recently I am Gluten Free, and this place rocked it. First good GF meal I've have in a month. Loved the gluten free rolls!
Wr met a friend for lunch. My wife and I shared a spectacular tuna burger. Really outstanding! ! Our friend had the crab cake sandwich. He thought it was terrific but so big he couldn't finish the whole sandwich.
Great night out
The quality of the food does not see to be what it was. Had an off meal at the last visit and figured I would try it again. Same meal and same experience. For the cost, I would have expected better.
Lunch before 2pm is busy time on the weekend. But a reservation is always a good idea. We were seated right away. When LSF is not as busy the reservation gets you the best booth or table.
The wait was a little longer but not terrible. The food was excellent. The Mrs. and I had a good time.
The Malbec is the best. The wines are well vetted. LSF reminds us in many ways of visit to CIA in Hyde Park, NY.
Our evening was perfect. Dashawn was our server, and both food and service were excellent as usual.
Friendly service, but not worth the $. Garden State Plaza location much nicer
Food was excellent as always. My Fiance had Cantonese style Lobster. It was delicious.
