Legal Sea Foods - Peabody Ratings and Reviews
The food was very good. The oysters fresh and well shucked. Server was friendly and attentive. Everything was great until......after paying and after leaving more than 20% tip, as we were leaving (our party of 4 was chatting as we left) one of the too many workers hanging around at the check in station must have said something such as have a good night. Only one of us heard it and the one who heard it looked back and said thank you. But at the same time (we didn't reply soon enough I guess or didn't put this person on the pedestal they think they belong on) the person at the check in station gave us a dirty look and muttered something under their breath. So, the talk about our dining turned from good service and good food to a discussion about the rude treatment. Too bad they put bad attitudes at the front to greet and insult customers. On to Turner's instead!
First time I've had a 'fair' meal at a Legal's. I ordered the fish sandwich lunch and selected jasmine rice and broccoli in place of french fries. The rice was cold and hard and the broccoli was undercooked. The bun for the fish was rather stale. Overall, a big disappointment. Also unfortunate that they did not offer swordfish on their menu. I would have preferred this to a fish filet sandwich.
Parking situation is a horrible issue. Because of construction, one cannot park easily and access from the shopping center is nil. One has to go outside in order to enter Legal Seafoods. Even though we had a reservation and there were no people in the restaurant, we were taken to a very undesirable booth. We asked for a larger booth and got seated next to an utility table. The waitress while pleasant seemed a bit disjointed. Having said these comments, the meal was good though I had to ask for my "doggie bag twice.
We had a 9:30 reservation, which was accepted by the restaurant, but we were rushed and treated shabbily by the waitress and host. We definitely felt that they wanted us to leave. If the restaurant didn't want to stay open for later diners than they shouldn't accept reservations at that time.
We have been fairly regular customers for 20 years, enjoying consistently good food. However our last visit will be our last! The food was very poor I ordered a medium rare tuna steak, and was very disappointed as the steak was very fatty and tough. The side dishes were poor also. You pay top dollar at this place and you would expect a lot more.
This Legal location continues to be our favorite. The quality and consistency of the food at this location never fails.
The fish is expertly prepared and supremely fresh.
Wonderful salads, vegis, apps, sides - everything is superb!
Treat yourself to a Rhode Island stuffie - yum!
Drinks need a bit of work...sometimes seem watered down...not sure if that's due to it sitting on ice too long before poured.
I imagine a restaurant of this caliber wouldn't water down a drink.
The wine selection, already expansive, continues to grow.
Guaranteed delicious meal for seafood lovers, but the other non seafood options are delicious as well!
This location has been renovated and is beautiful.
I gave it only 3 stars for ambience this visit because we were seated, again, next to a servers' station, so it's busy and a bit distracting.
Seems this restaurant has specific table for Open Table diners and I'm not sure they are the best.
Also gave only 3 stars for service because, on this night, we had a very confused and distracted server, yet polite.
Service varies from exceptional to average.
The appetizer was great, but the main course needed a lot of work. I had shrimp scampi, because I'm picky with my food but the sauce and pasta itself wasn't edible. the pasta was sticking all together, I had to peel some parts because it was bad! The sauce suppose to be simple, but not like water. If my date wasn't nice, I would've asked for something else. The service was decent, but the main course needed a lot of work.
The food was very good but the service was poor. My fish was under cooked even though I made it very clear that I wanted it well done. I never did receive my salad that I ordered and they brought my daughter the wrong salad. Clearly our waitress was not paying attention
Very convenient to be able to make reservations through open table. We were actually a little early and were gladly accommodated by the hostess. The food was excellent and the service great! Please do not ever remove the Faroe Island salmon and mushroom ravioli from the menu-it is superb!!
We hadn't been to Legal Seafood for quite awhile, and I was surprised by all the changes...new, lovely decor, my favorite salad, polenta dish and profiteroles gone from the menu. I got over it and found lots of yummy food to choose from. We were four adults, and we all were happy with our meals.
Made the reservation for a Saturday evening on line, if the time you want isnt available, just check again and you'll find a time close. We were seated right on time, waiter was very good. As usual, the menu is extensive and all choices are going to be very good. My wife's go to for seafood. Easy parking at the North Shore Mall in Peabody. All in All, a very good choice for a great meal.
The food is fine, not exceptional, noise level good, you can talk across the table and be heard, a bit pricey for what it is but the real complaint for anyone wanting to know what you're eating - you can't get that information from Legal Seafoods! The restaurant provides no nutritional or caloric info - they must have it so the refusal is why?
Have been going to Legal Seafood for a very long time. Was not exceptionally happy this visit. Went for something specifically advertised and found out they didn't have any. The waiter, I'm afraid was new and not very good. Tried to be patient but don't think he's cut out for the job. The new atmosphere leaves something to be desired. Not as cozy as the previous decor and set up. Not sure if we will return....
I have always enjoyed my experience here but this time we saw a mouse in the dining room! The waitress saw it too but denied it. The manager did come over to acknowledge it and let us know it was due to the construction next door but didn't say or do much else. I am sure the mice love the kitchen, so I will not be back.
The service and entrees were excellent - not so much the desserts. It was a very nice experience inside the restaurant, but, hopefully due to construction outside, the sewer smell as we left was absolutely nauseating. If we had smelled it when we entered the restaurant, we would probably have turned away and left even though we had reservations.
The manager, Bill Diamond, is a gem. Don't let him get away - very hospitable gentleman. He accompanied us to our table and spent a reasonable amount of time in conversation - gave us each a pen. He would be one reason that we would go back again.
Always excellent service and attention to detail the food is always at the top of its game .. pleasant bar area to sit have a drink and relax after work on a Friday. There is no rushing you , joyous can take your time and have conversations while enjoying an appetizer take a break watch the ballgame i between that and your dinner. I love the whole package at this legals.
