Unfortunately we had a waiter who was completely checked out. He never said his name, offered us water or checked in with us. I ordered a glass of wine & he returned 5 minutes later with no wine saying that he forgot what I wanted. I expect more from Legal, especially when a glass of wine goes for $17. He never came back to check on us and once we were done, we waited for 15 minutes for someone to come to the table. Eventually a colleague took pity and said she would find him. He didn't ask if we wanted a box, nor dessert nor another glass of wine. Unpleasant experience and extremely disappointing when you're paying $22 for a bowl of soup and $39 for an entree. BTW, the restaurant was 15% full if that.
Legal never disappoints. The food and cocktails were delicious, and the server was attentive and friendly. The North Shore Mall is fortunate to have this restaurant on the premises!
Nice place, excellent service, one of favorites.
Waitress Marybeth was amazing
We thoroughly enjoyed our night out. I ordered the pistachio encrusted salmon which was cooked perfectly snd my husband the fisherman’s plater. A bit small for the portion but overall good.
The waiter was a little strange and he hovered around the table too much. He didn't listen and did not have much personality. I remember the fisherman's platter for $36 having a larger portion. Quality is always good but my expectations with Legal Seafoods is very high.
rude host unprepared staff
Ever since new owners took over eating at Legal's seems to be hit or miss. At one time, before Roger sold his restaurants, you could always depend on high quality food. Now, you just never know what you will get. The service is always great, so no complains there. But the quality of the food is another story. My husband's Cioppino was half of what it used to be several years ago. My grilled scallops were overcooked and grilled too much on one side and bare on the other side. The salad was good, but very underdressed. The rolls looked and tasted like they had been heated once, and then reheated again. They were hard and dry. We asked for new rolls and we got the same kind as the first time so we gave up. We didn't say anything to our server about the food issues because we were with my brother and his wife and they were paying for the meal so we didn't want to make them uncomfortable by making an issue of things. We just pretended we were enjoying our meals. But when we left and on the drive home, my husband and I agreed that we will never return to Legals for a meal going forward. With these new owners, they clearly will not be able to live up to the former standards of excellent quality food.
Food was terrific and service even better, thanks, MaryBeth!
Legal Seafoods is consistently good.
Great service! Great server and great food! I came here to celebrate my dads birthday and we had a blast. Thank you so much!
The "Test Kitchen" salmon with pistachio crust is Delicious! Warm hospitality from greeting to goodbye and attentive service (by Julie) -- all made for a delightful visit.
Great food and atmosphere. Very attentive service as well.
Good food made even better by excellent service. I love it when the two collide!
Had better experience with them in the past, kitchen was slow and my wife's broccoli was brown and cold. Server was new, attentive and friendly, clearly not his fault
It took us over 45 mins for the dinner to arrive. I ordered the seafood platter and was surprised that for $36 I got half a plate of fries, 2 shrimps, 5 small calamari rings and a small piece of overpriced fish. Do not plan on visiting again.
Had an Old Fashion, wasn't made properly. No orange peel, tons of ice. Oysters Rockefeller was ok...fair. Limited lobster menu which was disappointing. Boiled/Baked or Lobster Mac, that's about it. Surf & Turf, but no lobster or lobster tail option. Got the colossal stuffed shrimp that wasn't so colossal. Steak temp done properly but little flavor. House Cab was of poor quality. Hell, Kendall Jackson would have been better. The whole meal was like something you would get at a 3 star hotel. And it was $101 + tip for 1 person. Wouldn't mind the price if the quality was there. Next time I travel here I'll stick to Turner's Seafood in Salem.
The quality of food has declined. Menu offerings are not what they were while the prices have increased substantially. Our waiter took a long time to bring us our drinks and brought appetizers and main course at the same time. Clams were dry and overcooked. Oysters Rockefeller were drowned in butter while the far superior Ousters Legal are no longer available. Lobster bisque was below par.
Disappointed at this once great establishment.
Restaurant was scheduled to close and my reservation was at 9:30. It was a complete disaster and horrible experience. EVERYONE was rushing us, employees were cleaning the dining room around us being very disruptive, vacuuming etc. No napkins or utensils on the table until we asked for them and the drinks from the bar were COMPLETELY different from what we ordered. And the food was cold and didn't seem fresh. Never again!
This was our first "post Covid" visit. We were disappointed that the new owners eliminated the gluten-free clam chowder. We were relieved when the waitress said that gluten-free bread crumbs were still available. All the food was the same high quality that we were used to.
Good food, great drinks , atmosphere was just what we were looking for. Our server Adam made the night!! He was very helpful, funny and quick to get whatever we needed.
We had an excellent meal. Sat at the bar, Katie served us. Very professional and personable.
My steak tips were tough and tasteless and my husband's haddock was bone dry
We had a very nice dinner outside with warmth from a heater. The food was excellent and the evening was delightful.
When Bill is the manager, everything is managed in a perfect manner. He is the face of NS mall Legal Seafoods.
Great time. Outstanding food and service. Quiet and easy for conversation
Revised versions of old Legal classics are okay, but not as good as their predecessors. Fried calamari, lobster rolls, shrimp scampi, and cioppino are all adequate but used to be oh so much better.
birthday dinner was great!
Food is just OK. Menu is limited. Everyone ate fish (of course) but some was cooked better than others. The outdoor patio is nicely arranged but the service was pretty bad. Waitstaff were very friendly but everything took forever even though it was never terribly busy. We ended up leaving after dinner and getting dessert at a local ice cream place because we just couldn't deal with the agonizing slow service any more.
Great service, great food, just wish they had steamers.
Excellent food and superb service from Marybeth
Food was delicious and the service was great!
My sisters birthday. Everything was great. I wish they had candles but that was okay. Good food, good service. I wish they would bring back the Jasmine Shrimp. I drove all the way from CT to have it.
We were seated promptly, but it ended there. Took forever to get drinks ordered, then chiller for wine arrived with two of the drinks, but not the wine for the two ladies. Bottle of wine came later, but no glasses from drink order to everything at table was 20-25 minutes. Food was ordered and a delay before first course came. Then, main course was served before we started the first. The excuse was the kitchen was swamped. A manager was helping serve and basically told us again kitchen was swamped and we had to take it as is. We started on fried clams right away and, while they were just out of the swamped kitchen, were barely lukewarm. I left a tip, but not what I usually do, because it was one of the worst experience I ever had when spending $400 for four people.
I understand worker shortages and training problems, but a manager speaking that way to diners is inexcusable. I remember better times at the first location old tables with newspapers for tablecloth on waterfront.
Very disappointed. Legal seafoods has changed from what it once was. Food was terrible and over priced. Food was definitely left out sitting under hot lamp and tasted burnt. Felt bad for the waitstaff who were understaffed. Would definitely not recommend.
We sat outside and the garbage truck came to pick up the dumpster right next to us, and then came back and dropped a new dumpster. During prime dinner hours on a Thursday night???
They forgot one of our dinners, but they comped us for that dinner.
Very friendly and would go back, just seemed like an off night
Great customer service by all employees observed. Manager was attentive and asked for our input. Waiter, Adam was especially cheerful with an uplifting attitude. Food was well prepared from a pretty much LS standard menu. This Legal stands far above the LegalCBar of Lynnfield in all aspects.
Our waiter, the young man in college, was exceptional. Can't recall his name but he deserves a lot of credit. Very attentive and worked hard to make our dining experience as enjoyable as possible. thank you!
Legal Sea Foods was a lovely break from the fast pace of the day. The wait person was very efficient and nice and the food delicious.
Excellent food. Good service. A bit pricey. Difficult parking and location.
