Legal Sea Foods - Park Square Ratings and Reviews
Joseph is a great asset to restaurant - friendly and knowledgeable. I had an excellent Cajun grilled salmon with mashed potatoes and winter squash with cranberries. Others in party enjoyed their entrees. Would have enjoyed dessert but had to get to theater. Next time.
Took our whole family out to celebrate a birthday. Great food, great service, and the atmosphere is perfect for what we needed. Also *really* appreciate that the restaurant is open until 11 on a weeknight. Waitstaff went out of their way to surprise the birthday 'boy' with an off-menu dessert he loved, and they just did a fabulous job of making everyone feel special (as they always do!) Thank you for a wonderful and memorable night!
We had a wonderful time celebrating my Mother in Laws 70th birthday. Where we were seated there was a terrible glare from the street light. It would have been fine if there was some sort of shade that could have been drawn, however that was not the case. It was extremely busy the night we were there but the staff was very nice, polite and timely.
Our server was one of the best we have had and we eat in restaurants a lot. She was friendly, funny, picked up on our 'witty' banter, and in general took great care of us, including getting us finished so we could make our show at the Wilbur. When we talked to the manager about how great she was, he responded perfectly as well. This is a big restaurant with a lot going on, but we felt like we were the only ones in the place and that they really valued our being there. Top notch dining experience across the board.
Excellent seafood, of course, most notably the crab cakes. Rebecca was a gracious and attentive server and her service enhanced our experience. Somewhat surprised by the high quality of the food given it is a "chain", sort of. Would definitely recommend this to anyone!!
My wife and I are regular customers as we live locally. Legal Sea Food is not cheap or very adventurous in its menu. It is however dependable and kid friendly so we go in with our daughter every couple of months.
On this occasion I went in with my daughter on a Friday night (My first time going on a busy Friday). It was very busy. We booked a table and I requested a booth but did not get any. So despite reserving twenty four hours in advance we ended up being stuck beside the hostess stand and the outside door.
We got no bread rolls and were ignored after receiving our meals. We generally have a pleasant time at this location but as a regular, I would suggest avoiding it on a Friday night. I’m not sure if they didn’t have enough staff but I thought it off from our usual experience over the last seven years.
Legal seafood seems to have lost the ability to correctly prepare seafood. The last 3 times I ordered the steamers (at 3 different restaurants including this one) they have been so overcooked that you cannot remove the clams from the shells in one piece. They pull to bits as you try to remove them and you are left trying to hold lots of shreds in your fingers as you dip in the brine and the butter. It is not pleasant and they have no flavor as they have been steamed for too long.
My main course was baked stuffed shrimp, and that was also very overcooked and dry and unpleasant. Legal used to do great seafood, but now I think they are just trading on their name. If you want nice seafood try a small local restaurant instead.
Great meal! The restaurant is beautiful. Only complaints is that in a pretty empty building (5 pm) they sat us right next to a private dining room that had a very loud bushiness dinner going on (and by bushiness i mean drinking). All in all the staff was great and they were very nice helping us enjoy a family birthday dinner.
OMG! We made a reservation for Saturday evening at 7. When we arrived promptly at 7, I heard the hostess tell the party in line before us that it would be a 1.5 hour wait! Given that we had a reservation, we got seated immediately. My hubby and I shared a bowl of clam chowder, which although full of clams, we thought it was just okay. We also chose to have lobster, which you order by the weight. We chose the largest, almost 2 lbs. because we were sharing it. Cost was around $60. We also ordered it with the seafood topping (scallops & shrimp with seasoned bread crumbs) for an additional $8. They split the lobster and our 2 side dishes (yummy cole slaw and just okay stuffed baked potato) in the kitchen. When it was served, each plate looked enormous! Just in my half there must have been 6 scallops alone! It was delicious - very similar to lobster Thermidor. Just asking, where can you purchase 2 plates like this for $68? We thought it was not only well seasoned but a great deal. Our waitress was also very attentive.
We had a 5:30pm reservation for dinner and arrived promptly at 5:30 and were seated right away. Within 10 minutes, our cheerful server arrived and asked us for cocktails, we ordered them and she said she'd be right back the dining room was less than half full. 15 minutes later she came back and asked about one of the cocktails because one of the bartenders had called her out because she didn't get the information (ice or no ice) when she took the order. She came back 15 minutes later and told us how disgruntled she was at the bartender. She took our order for appetizers and dinner. We waited 20 more minutes, she came back twice to apologize. Appetizers arrived and dinner arrived at the same time. Appetizers were tasty (chowder and buffalo shrimp), the meal was overcooked ( fisherman's platter) dark brown, dry and not warm. We generally eat at a legal's seafood at least once a month and generally enjoy great food and outstanding service. I don't plan on returning to the Park Plaza location again.
We had dinner after taking in a play nearby. While the food and service was ok we found this restaurant to not be anything special. In addition we ordered a bottle of wine and they discovered they were out of our selection. A lesser cost wine was brought to us rather than asking if we wanted a different selection. A bit presumptions on their part. Place is a bit spendy for what you get.
