Legal Sea Foods’ flagship location in Boston’s Theater District is surrounded by hotels and nearby Newbury Street, Copley Square and Boston Common. Just inside you’ll see a two-story cascading fountain, the center-piece of the restaurant.
With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker.

The oysters were great. The cioppino was good. The seafood casserole was a bit to dry but definitely edible. The chowder was on point. The Caesar salad was delicious. The interior decor was tacky but bright and clean. Bar service was fast and reasonable.
The food was good. And the service was spectacular! Tristan was a consummate server, pleasant efficient and never intrusive. I’d go back as a patron to any restaurant he were to work at. A true asset for Legal Seafood!
We were looking forward to a Boston tradition but the food quality was very poor. Party of 6 with different entrees. We were seated promptly but it took over 1/2 hour to get drinks. We were comped dessert because of the drink wait - thanks the dessert was good! But the food - all choices but the tofu - were either bland or overcooked - shrimp and scollops. Very disappointing.
Julio, our server was extremely friendly and accommodating. We had eaten with Julio several times previously, and he took care of my wife's food allergies with several suggestions and spoke withthe chef who also came up with excellent suggestion. Overall the staff is welcoming and friendly. The food, as always is fresh and tasty. Although we live in Connecticut, we make sure to visit the many timeswe are inBoston, and bring clients with us.
Seafood is always fresh. Never had a bad meal here
Living on the ocean we are probably spoiled when it comes to fresh fish; but, my dining companion was disappointed in the cod. It was dry and not "day boat" fresh as expected. The salmon was excellent.
I celebrated my 65th birthday with a 2 pound baked stuffed lobster. My server did an incredible job to make sure I enjoyed the evening.
Wonderful waiter. Made great suggestions. Happy!!!
We had the best stuffed lobster!! Loved the Moscato pairing with strawberry shortcake.👍🏻
Good food and staff is excellent. You won’t be hungry when you leave, the portions are big.
Food was quite expensive for the quality. The lobster was much smaller than advertised, in fact, our daughter got the 1lb. lobster from the children's menu, and it was larger that the "large size" lobster that we ordered from the regular dinner menu. This really seemed like an overpriced Red Lobster, and was a complete waste of $300.
Loved the food, service and the staff was top notch. We were there to celebrate a birthday, just the two of us and it was the best time ever. We will deffinately be back again.
Our food was amazing and we had a waiter by the name of Daniel and he was amazing to my friend and I.
Food just fair
Excellent service. Very courteous!
Best tasting seafood I have ever had.
Very simply, can’t wait to go back. But since we live in Orlando, it will be a while. We especially enjoy the clam chowder.
Always have a great meal with excellent service. We met friends from out -of -town and they enjoyed it , as well! Thanks !!
We were a group including older kids. Hard to hear each other . My biggest complaint is that the bathroom is downstairs which includes a winding staircase. Not easy for the older set. Food is very expensive and solidly good but not really worth the expense. We had theater tickets and this was close otherwise, no.
The food was good but it is pricey. I was expecting to be wow-ed, but it wasn't that great. The server was fine - nothing special. The ambiance was a little strange - some guys were in athletic shorts, ball caps and sleeveless t-shirts (yuck) which didn't seem to fit the place.
I like Legal Seafood because food and service is always consistent...Their steamed lobster dinners are great...They're simple but perfectly cooked and come with 2 sides. I got seaweed salad and brown rice which were a nice complement to the lobster. The waiter was attentive and the bottle of Pinot Noir was a very nice value....All in all, a lovely night out.
Ordered seafood casserole which was partially burnt and way over cooked. This was replaced by the baked scrod which was only partially edible. Side dish of brócoli for my date was raw. Service was poor, except they kept apologozing. Paid over $100 for dinner for two (no drinks). A total waist. I used to live in Boston and was returning to Legal Seafood as I had such fond memories, which are now ruined
Food is ok but not as good as the price deserves
Waiter was excellent and food was very good. Sat near large group and the noise level was high.
Always a local favorite
We ate here two weeks previous and wanted our friends to experience this restaurant. Food was good but the clam chowder wax not as good as at our first visit. We were also in a larger dining room with a party of 12 next to us so the noise level was extreme. Still would recommend this restaurant for any first time Boston visitors
Treated my sister for her birthday. We started with gazpacho on water's advice, then Lobster rolls and finished with strawberry shortcake thanks to Walter's suggestion. Everything was delicious. Service was excellent.
Outstanding oysters and very fresh wood grilled fish
The food was good but the service was extremely slow. The server was also not attentive and we had to ask for water refills and rolls and the restaurant was not that busy. We were underwhelmed.
Absolutely delicious seafood! We loved the assorted grilled with 3 types of fish, scallops and prawns!
Very attentive server
Fresh seafood. Ok steamers a little over done
Pleasant visit for Swedish guest. Very good scallops for him
Not up to Legal standard. Food was bland. Service from waiter was painful and slow. Really a disappointment. Would not go back. Other locations much better. All in all, expensive with pretty bad food and some of the worst table service I’ve experienced.
The service was exceptional. Our waiter was friendly, professional, and attentive. The quality of the food was very good. Everything was delicious.
This was are first trip to a Legal Seafood. The waitress was very pleasant and answered all questions. We enjoyed the experience and it was close to are hotel.
My experience was not as great as companions. Their food was very good, mine was less than the usual excellence I expect from legal. Service though was phenomenal!!!! Never had a waiter as good as this one. He will go places.
Long time Legal diners - first time at the Park Square location. In a word, awesome! It was our 43rd anniversary and service was spectacular. Legal clam chowder is top of the list in New England. Wellfleet oysters are the best in the world. Grilled swordfish killed it. To end the dinner, our server presented us with a slice of decadent anniversary chocolate cake which was summarily devoured against our intentions.
Started off having to show the host that I did, in fact, have a reservation thru Open Table after being told twice that I must be in the wrong location. No apologies, no nothing followed after I showed the reservation to him on my phone. Server was nice, food was okay. But getting hassled as I enter a restaurant that I was looking forward to eating at just put me off the entire experience, to be honest. That and the introduction of "premium sides" to the menu. Basically, any starch that you'd like is included, but anything that is green and healthy has a surcharge. WTF?
Just wasn’t like it used to be. Everything was o we cooked and on the greasy side.
Great place overall
The food was amazing and very healthy. The bar-tender was nice and made great drinks. We will be back!
