Food is excellent but for the portion size that you get (and I'm not comparing it to the typical, gigantic "American-size" portion), it's completely overpriced. Good occasional splurge but not for regular dining
We have been here before on several occasions. The food and service has always been superb. Food is excellent and friendly staff.
This is our third visit to Legal Sea Foods at Paramus. Good service as usual. And the menus got updated with some interesting Asian options.
We ordered appetizers as usual- raw oysters, clam chowders and house salad. Three things that we tried for the first time were tasty - (1) Kung Pao Fried tofu rice bowl for the first time - it was like Korean Bibibamp despite a little overpriced. (2) cioppino - in a flat plate which I thought might not be the best option; (3) the seasonal dessert, Maple bourbon bread pudding, was amazing!!
Great food, wonderful service!!! The only negative was the booth seating we had was very old and worn.
one dinner was overcooked and had to be sent back, the problem was corrected and after waiting a while, the new dinner was enjoyed.
Overall really good. Love the steamers ! The fried platter was a tiny bit over cooked. My husband had the fish and chips which he loved. Awesome wine specials for $6 glass, you can’t beat that.
Food was as good as always/ The service was mediocre and the flexibility of the chef was disappointing.
Great place for birthday celebration
we went in for a quick meal and ended up staying much longer than expected. Not only was the service poor , but the kitchen could not get meals out. We waited 40 minutes from the time we got our appetizers which was also too long, until the entrees came. Saw the waiter twice who told us the kitchen was slow with no indication when the meal was actually coming. I spoke with the manager, which was a waste of time. Most restaurants will at a minimum , show some good will and offer you something, coffee, dessert etc for the inconvenience. Here you have to ask -which most people wont do . WOnt be going back there anytime soon. No class.
We really enjoyed our time here. "Time" being a key factor. We have a favorite seafood place we go to, but are always rushed when we go there. It's a small place and I guess they have to turn over the tables quickly. At Legal Seafood we were allowed some time to digest and enjoy each other's company in between courses. Our waiter was attentive and yet knew when to 'give us space.' The food was great. We enjoyed the crispy calamari - Rhode island style. and my swordfish steak was cooked to perfection! Would definitely go there again.
We live in the area so we always dine at this legal, but this visit really disappoint us. It's all about the food quality, they are not as good as before. I mean foods are ok but not at that price, and you don't expect it when you are paying more than a normal family restaurant. My wife ordered a pad Thai which is part of their promotion, it was not as good as before; my daughter's cheese ravioli, $7.5 with only 6 pieces of raviolis... even a 3 years old girl does not enough for dinner. I hope that they could maintain their quality as before....
Seated for 15 minutes before being offered water. 10 minutes later water arrived and order given. (Restaurant was less the 80% full) The order was for 1 soda, 1 cocktail, 3 appetizers and 2 entrees. 45 minutes after being seated 2 dinner rolls, the soda, the cocktail and 1 appetizer was brought to the table. Of course the only appetizer that arrived was my wife's order, which she was thoroughly enjoying when I asked our server about the rest of the appetizers. She went thru her order slips and advised me that I had only ordered the one appetizer. SMH....I did not call her a liar or remind her that after each item I ordered, a few of which we had a small convo about, she scribbled "something" in her order pad. I cancelled the rest of the order and asked for the check. This was the second time in roughly 20 years I had been to a Legal Seaford. Sadly both times were quite unenjoyable.
It was a very nice experience. It was quiet for a Saturday night, but then again it was 14º in New Jersey. Although I had a reservation, there was absolutely no wait time! The waitress was very nice and attentive.
Great Saturday evening out. Nice and quiet restaurant. Great for a date or a family night out. Menu had a variety of choices, but it was a bit pricey.
The service was excellent. Our server really took care to make sure everything was perfect. In fact, the service was at a fine dining level
Great please very consistent
Legal seafood never disappoints us. There voiced or are the best and their seafood is excellent and fresh
Waited 30 minutes after salad for entree. No idea what the problem was. No idea when it would be served. Paid for drinks and left. Bizarre as everyone else was getting their food. We felt like chumps sitting there with nothing in front of us.
Our waiter was very solicitous and the food was very good.
The staff is wonderful, very attentive, helpful when asked but not intrusive. And the food is good. Clam chowder is excellent and crab cakes are really crab not filler.
Great food. Good people. Building interior just starting to look old and run down. Won’t really stop me from coming but updating would be a good idea. Make it more worth the crazy pricing.
Enjoyed a relaxing meal the day before Christmas. Service was excellent, food delicious!
Good for a quick lunch. Great Clam Chowder and Crab cakes
I made a dinner reservation to celebrate a very special ocassion, my mother-in-law's 75th milestone birthday. She was visiting from out of state for her birthday but also because her son and I just got engaged last month. Her birthday was noted in my opentable rsv. When we arrived for dinner on Wed 11/22, we were seated promptly. Our server was attentive, friendly and really great. We ordered a lovely bottle of Pinot Noir and enjoyed the Steamers, Salad, King Crab Legs, and Lobster Surf & Turf. The food was delicious. What was incredibly disappointing was when the dessert came out and no one sang happy birthday or even acknowledged my mother-in-law's special moment. As we had the dessert, the table next to us was clearly celebrating a birthday as well... 4-5 servers came out to sing happy birthday to another guest, which made us feel even more horrible. It was just embarassing and too late to fix the mistake. We got the check and although we left a 20% tip for our server since SHE was great, we were disappointed in the restaurant's oversight of my notes in the reservation.
As I walked my mother-in-law out, I mentioned this to the hostess who seated us, who was standing at the hostess stand. The manager was standing next to her. They both looked up my rsv and the hostess said it was her fault that she did not check the notes. The manager simply shrugged and said sorry, as if the night was over and there was nothing they could do at that point. The dining experience leading up to dessert was really amazing, but once I realized that there was no mention of my mother-in-law's birthday, it just ruined the entire celebratory moment. I believe that the manager could have done something more to make us feel valued, but he chose not to. I have been coming to LS for years because of the consistency in the fresh food and impeccably service but I left this last visit really disappointed.
The fish was very good but clams were sandy and Brussels sprouts chewy/ undercooked
Good for seafood- great server and very attentive!
Very good and fair prices.
Nice atmosphere .
Staff is friendly and cordial. Food is just not up to the prices charged. French fries, if not from a frozen bag they appear to be. Cole slaw nothing special. Fried clams were, again just OK. Did not appear to be fresh clams [recently shucked] and just coated for the fryer. I would expect several steps up from a Bonefish Grill based on prices charged, but in reality Legal is a step below Bonefish in my opinion.
We go to Legal Seafood for the lobster and fresh fish also always get the raw clams. Been going more years than I want to admit to always good. Which cannot be said about all restaurants.
There were 6 of us. The food and service were excellent, but there was only one round table, and it was occupied by another party. I had made the reservation 5 days in advance and requested a nice table, but we had a regular table, and it made conversation difficult. Also, we drove up to the valet parking, and they told us they had no room to accommodate us, so we had to drive around, finally finding a space at the far end of the parking lot.
