Legal Sea Foods - Paramus
For all those who love seafood in Paramus, the world really can be your oyster. Come for the seafood and stay to shop. We are conveniently located within the Garden State Plaza.
Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker.
We’ve received a boatload of accolades including being named “#1 Best Seafood Restaurant” in a nationwide poll by USA Today (2013) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.
Lovely place been going there for years
Very enjoyable all around. We found out that this location is closing in 3 weeks building didn’t renew their lease... but. Another restaurant is coming. Too bad was a good go to at the mall. Good luck to all the employees there.
Noticed new menu and just was not very wowed by it. Service was not the best.
Nice place for seafood. From the hostess’ greeting upon arrival to the friendly and appreciative goodbye, this was an all around good experience that I’d recommend. Servlces was excellent and food was right on target. We had the Caesar salad l, crab cakes and mussels along with a delicious NJ Pilsner. All of the food met expectations and then some. The warm rolls are a nice touch. Our water glasses were refilled regularly keeping us satisfied and well taken care of by our friendly and very capable waitress.
Expensive and just average food. Do not recommend.
We had been there many times previously, but this time was the worst. My wife explained her allergies to the manager, who checked specifically whether her desired choices were safe to eat. The manager recommended how they would alter the desired main course to stay safe, and my wife agreed to. There apparently was mis-communication between manager and wait staff, and items were missing. My requested soup (NE Clam Chowder) was never delivered. My baked stuffed shrimp was good, as it has been on previous visits.
Legal has always been a reliable place to get great fish. This meal didn’t disappoint other than the server started his presentation with “let me tell you about all the things we’ve run out of”. Not e way to start a meal! Having said that, the food we did have was excellent.
It was a quiet night and we had our favorite booth. As always the service and food was great.
Food was incredible and great gluten free options that actually tastes too.
Did not like my meal this time..normally everything is delicious. This time I ordered cioppino with pasta. It was not good. The fish was fine but the pasta was all stuck together. I guess the chef forgot to put a little oil in the water while making it! Everything else was fine and this won’t stop be from coming to your restaurant. Just was disappointed.
Always best seafood restaurant. We were introducing New England food to family from abroad. The NE clam chowda was awesome and they truly enjoyed the lobster and steamers.
We made a table reservation but ended up sitting at the bar to watch the YANKEES! The bartender was named Walker and he was excellent, attentive, personable. The food was excellent. And they treated us to dessert for our anniversary. We had a wonderful time.
I ordered steamed mussels and asked to have it prepared without the hot pepper flakes. When it was served it HAD hot pepper flakes in it and i sent it back. By the time it was served again my husband had already finished eating. It was not a nice dining experience. I’m not sure whether the server didn’t put the order in properly or the kitchen didn’t pay attention. Either way it was lousy service!!!!!
We always have a wonderful meal . This time was out already anniversary and it was great as usual
The steamers are the reason why i always fine with you. As always they were delicious ! But what stood out the most on this occasion was the service. Our waitress was exceptional. She really catered to our needs and was an absolute delight.
Went for lunch the lobster Bisque was very good along with the grilled shrimp with the garlic butter sauce!
New menu is disappointing
Legal Seafood is located at the Garden State Plaza. We had made arrangements to see Dowington Abbey and made reservation to eat there after the show. It has a very large menu for fish. It was a excellent choice. The seafood was excellent. Will go back.
First time we went for dinner. Have had numerous lunches at this location. I have to say that for some reason it is much better for lunch than dinner. Maybe because of the price I expect a little more upscale decor? This location is getting old. The staff keeps the carpet sweepers lined up along the wall next to where people are eating. I don't think this is acceptable. Our waiter was OK. Not very friendly. Brought my husband's appetizer but had to be reminded to bring my lobster bisque. That caused my dinner to arrive before I finished my soup. I find this completely unprofessional for a restaurant at this price point. They should know when appetizers are finished and never bring main course prior. Ordered the combo which was good (not great) and definitely a small portion. I think there are better options at this price point for dinner although I will return for lunch.
Hour we attended premises was empty in the dining area. Server failed to ask if we were leaving interested in refreshing our drinks.
Great food, and service. Unfortunately, the restaurant is in dire need of an upgrade/reno. Very dated interior detracts from a premium food experience.
How can Legal Sea Food be out of king crab legs? It’s a big reason why people go there.
If they do run out, how can you NOT tell the patrons before they are seated? Unbelievable.
So we ate our appetizers which we ordered before we found out they didn’t have king crab legs, and went to Red Lobster to get them.
Call ahead if you want crab legs folks.
Better get it together Legal!
Hubby and I shared the chocolate pudding cake and it was amazing 😉 however the Calamari was not crispy😫
Amazing and friendly service. For a Saturday night it wasn't hectic or too busy where the server was overwhelmed. Appetizers (popcorn shrimp, cranage and calamari) came out quickly and was delicious. Entrees (tuba steak, filet mignon and a couple of lobster rolls) were delicious and came out at the right time. Finally desserts were very good though nothing crazy. Overall an excellent experience. You definitely won't feel like you're at a franchise with a generic menu but a seafood restaurant that will exceed your typical expectations.
Service and food very good, convenient location, price reasonable. As compared to my last visit to Legal Sea Foods in Boston, it did not seem like the menu was as broad. Limited menu is my only small criticism
Ordered a crab cake combo. Only the crab cake was hot; the scallops were lukewarm and the grilled shrimp barely above room temperature. The mustard sauce was barely evident underneath the crab cake, nothing to dip into. The crab cake itself was of good quality. My dining companion had grilled tuna, which was cooked more than requested and needed seasoning. The windows look out on the mall parking lot and on a busy Saturday night the wooden window blinds allowed an annoying amount of headlight glare to hit us as cars cruised the parking lot. Overall, not one of our better Legal experiences.
Made my retirement dinner special! Love you guys
It was good but several menu items were not available.
The food is outstanding! The place is lovely, cozy and beautiful.
Lovely food, kind waiters. The food was a little bit pricey.
Food was delicious - oysters were fresh and service was great!
The staff was very attentive. I do not eat shell fish and the waitress was kind enough to tell me that the tuna burger I ordered was made with shell fish stock; which enabled me to get something else. The food was good. The prices are what they are for this kind of restaurant. It had been a while since I had been there; but I will probably go back again some day. I just try to stay away from the chains.
Always a pleasant experience at a legal aseafood. The service is great.
This Legal Seafood didn’t have (as opposed to “ran out of”) Crab Cakes, the ONLY Non Alcoholic Beer that they carry, Cheesecake not very helpful or attentive.
Dorion J provided great service. The atmosphere was quiet so it was nice to be able to hold a conversation. The oysters were amazing!
We have dined here before but this last time was probably the last and worst food we have ever had there.
We ordered the tai calamari and it was soggy, the calamari wasn’t even breaded- literally messy and soggy.
My husband ordered the popcorn shrimp and the dipping sauce was all blue cheese and no sauce at all.
I ordered filet mignon and the baked potato wasn’t even formed it was a mushed mess and the sour cream tasted rancid.
The children’s pizza was awful - the cheese also tasted terrible. The waiter was very nice and our mistake was not telling her how awful the food was but this was such a disappointing visit.
It felt like an overpriced Red Lobster. I would not recommend this place.
I've been a legal fan for years... always has been our goto easy mall/seafood in the area but I think after the last expiernce we may just stop going. Thier are reliable things such as steamers - always great. The staff is ALWAYS friendly... the problem is really the food being very hit and miss. for a long time it was just way oversalted... oversalted did I mention ... which seems to have gotten better but it alwasy something off about the taste even for simple things... this time it was the sauteed spinach which was just sour... (not sure why)... This time just amazingly long for service ... I'm done... I part with some sadness.
We were disappointed that even after our server promised that the chef would be definitely willing to honor our request to modify one of the menu choices that 3 of our party ordered, she returned to tell us he refused. She then proceeded to do a very poor job in explaining alternative options. And then I don’t think she ever asked us how things were. Overall a disappointing dining experience from a restaurant that we frequently go to as a place to meet friends and family that live a long way away from us ( a 2 hour drive for us)
It is consistently great food and a pleasant environment!
