Legal Sea Foods - Long Wharf Ratings and Reviews
Went here as a group for New Years Eve with a plan to catch the fireworks outside after dinner. This was a double celebration as my sister is also moving across the country, so this was NYE dinner as well as a goodbye dinner. Our reservations were at 9:45 and we were told we can “take our time” once seated. 10 minutes later, our waitress arrived and said “I need you guys to order within the next 10 minutes or else the kitchen is closed.” On New Year’s Eve, at 10:00, really?? We ordered 2 bottles of Prosecco, and when we went to order a third, we were told we can not because the “bar closed.” The whole experienced was so rushed/unenjoyable. We spent $300 (not including tip) and were treated as if we were bothersome. They couldn’t get us out fast enough. For that kind of money I certainly expect better ! DO NOT plan on celebrating NYE here or your plans will get ruined. We were, however, able to get excellent drinks and service at the Marriott across the street afterwards.
We've been to LSF many times, but maybe as it was new years eve, the staff were having an off day. Lobsters were OK, but a lot of water was on plate as if they'd not been drained. The constant checking of what I assume were table optimisation people was incredible, and off putting, so we won't rush back.
My husband and I took out three children to Boston to celebrate the holidays and winter vacation. We all agreed, the food was fantastic, we have been a few times, but what really stood out and made our evening was the amazing service! Our waiter, Rick, was outstanding! He had perfect recommendations that were spot on! A+ service!!! We will be back and will be sure it a day he is working ( he is off Sunday and Monday).
Service was a little bit rushed. Nice waitress but we didn’t even finish our starters when the main course was served. Same with the dessert as the check came before we were done. But food was overall good. Typical American sea food with deep fried choices and big portions.
The grilled tuna, at $30, was unseasoned and not rare as requested. It sat unadorned with two despondent sides on a thick, white plate better suited to a coffee shop. The waiter, Matt, was helpful and speedy, a welcome change from the reception desk. Our reservation was for 6 PM (we were heading for an evening event at the aquarium, whose proximity is the ONLY reason to dine at this branch of Legal Seafood). We arrived with two young children at 5:45, and were told that we had to wait, standing at the door, until 6. At 6:10, we were led to a table that had been empty since our arrival. (It was visible from the entry, although the only way it could have been further back would have been to seat us in the restrooms. Altogether a fairly bleak experience, which we will not repeat.
Holiday dinner before dropping our daughter off at Logan Airport and Legal was a great spot, as always. It was Christmas Day and it was busy, even at 5:00 PM. Our waiter was excellent and the food delicious. They even had my favorite wine available by the glass. We have dined at Legal many times and in many places - they have never failed us.
Made reservation for Christmas Eve. Staff was friendly enough and we were seated immediately. We were seated at a window booth/table, and it was noticeably drafty and cold. The manager, at a nearby patron's complaint, adjusted the heat, stating it would take 15 minutes to get warmer. We ordered our food, grilled scallops w/ & rice, and surf & turf, which, when they came out, were both room temperature. Ether they had sat out or the extreme draft cooled them right away. The food was too cool to enjoy (butter would not melt on the broccoli) , so we asked the waiter to send it back. The manager (who was dealing with the aforementioned complaining patron) was there too, and apologized. They said they would reheat it (to our satisfaction) and give us new sides. When it came back, it the entrees were warmer, but the sides were still pretty cool. The manager also seemed very annoyed, whether at the situation or with us was uncertain, but it showed. The meal was therefore, wholly dissatisfying. In addition, the prices were rather high relative to the food and presentation - a higher priced Red Lobster. We had dined at the company's Legal Crossing (a boutique version of Legal Seafood) the night before and were very happy. Also could not help notice that when the bill arrived, the server left a 8.5x11 mission statement (what Legal Seafood promises to its customers). I didn't notice anyone else got one. Weird.
Yes, it was Christmas Eve, but that doesn't excuse cold food and high prices.
Have been to a few other Legal Seafood Restaurants (RI, Chestnut Hill, and the other Boston location), all have been excellent, however we were very disappointed at the Long Wharf Location. The service was very good, but two of our four dinners had to be sent back TWICE!! Once for being over done and the other for being ice cold....unbelievable!! Finally third time was a charm. This was a special occasion for us since our son was coming home for the holidays from Germany. He requested a nice seafood restaurant! Never again, thank you but no thanks!! Add to this the restaurant was not even busy! We did not even all enjoy a meal together!
I always love coming here. For birthdays, ladies night out, out of town guests—it’s pricey but worth it. The only downside this time was a woman who started ‘cleaning’ our table ten minutes before close, without saying a word to us. Removing our place mats, taking our glasses. We were finished and about to leave, and there were still others around us in the middle of their dinners. Our visit ended on a bit of a down note; her behavior was strange and offputting.
But other than that, our server Casey was outstanding, the food divine, the wine lovely and the bananas foster to die for. One of my favorite spots!
The greeters were cordial, friendly and efficient. The waiter was prompt, well spoken, efficient, friendly, and fast, but without being pushy. The dinner was fantastic, with good portions, and served hot. I was pleased with the whole operation. It made the evening run smoothly. Very well done!
Usually love it here, but my plaice fish (a special) was cold, thin and not very tasty and the potatoes were cold as well as the Brussels sprouts. Everyone else seemed to enjoy there meals though. Service was excellent. Also first batch of mussels came out smelling horribly and texture was like mush, but they replaced them with a great batch.
Great environment and service. Would recommend the lobster and the dessert. However, what was supposed to be one person's meal was undoubtedly too much for girls. Other than having left-overs, everything else was wonderful. Hint: you can request seats with great views. We were seated near the window and had a direct view of the harbor.
My daughter future mother -law and her best friend meet up with my wife for the initial first meet, my wife picked the place and I was very impressed with the staff and the amazing food. I the atmosphere was perfect, and the service was even better. Each of us ordered different dinners and shared, WOW, every bite was so delicious. We can’t wait to get together again and I would definitely keep Legal Seafoods on my short list as a really wonderful experience. Thank you Legal Seafood for making this first time for the moms to get to know each other such a special occasion. Kudos !!!!!!
The staff at this restaurant is very friendly and professional. The food was delicious and the drinks were very good. The atmosphere was very nice, not too noisy and we were able to enjoy our quiet conversation. The waitress was very attentive without being a nuisance.
