Legal Sea Foods - Long Wharf Ratings and Reviews
Very touristy and not a great value. Everything was pretty average. Calamari appetizer was comically small. Scallops were cooked on a skewer rather than their side face and came out under-cooked. Mahi mahi was a bit tough. Clam chowder was average. The Old-Fashioned, mussels, and mashed potatoes were the redeeming parts of the meal but but not enough to call this experience an enjoyable one. The service was totally on top of everything and exceptional, but that didn't really help the food.
It served my want to have seafood for Thanksgiving since I was in the area. The server wasn't great and I did communicate this with management who did wonderful service recovery. I'm not "eager", but due to their response to my concern, I'd be open to trying the location again!
I've been to many Legal Seafood locations and the Long Warf Legal is my favorite. The bar is great and the atmosphere is awesome. Just enough hustle and bustle to let you know you are somewhere special and desirable and not to loud so you can have a conversation. Its on the water so that's a plus and the service was top notch.
It’s all about the gluten free choices
So many from Calamari to warm rolls before dinner to well the menu has little symbols for gluten free and they are all over the menu
My non gf family enjoyed their meals and even shared calamari with me and commented on how good it was
The service was good but the food was not. The cost was high and the value poor. I️ ordered shrimp on a salad (dressing on the side)and a cup of hot tea. My bill was over $25.00. The shrimp were few and very over cooked the dressing on the salad. When the brought back the salad it was with the wrong dressing. I️ will tell people not to go there
The parking validation "deal" was very misleading on the website. I was under the impression that Legal Seafoods would validate my parking if I parked at the Boston Harbour Garage after 4:30 pm...which I did at 8:00pm. When I checked in at the restaurant, I was given a 2nd parking stub which I was told to put in the machine after my initial parking ticket.
When I went to exit the parkade and inserted my initial ticket - the meter showed an initial fee of $33. When I inserted the "validation" ticket, it showed a "discount' of only $8...leaving me with a remaining charge of $25!!. I was there for barely an hour - my meal was $39 and parking was $25. WHAT A RIP-OFF! DON'T FALL FOR THE PARKING DISCOUNT SCAM LISTED ON THE WEBSITE!
First time in Boston, and we decided to try Legal Sea food. Shrimp was over cooked. Clam chowder was ok at best. The fish was nothing to brag about, either. The experience as whole was a disappointment, especially the city is suppose to be known as a sea food town.
The food was MEH! The appetizers were bad. Greasy, limp calamari. Greasy flavorless popcorn shrimp. The oysters were ok. There was a pushy waiter always asking if we wanted to add more, which got annoying. As soon as the last mouthful was off my plate it was cleared, which felt rushed. Not a good experience and it was $600 for 9 of us or $66 each. That is with a glass of wine for 4 of us out of 9 and no cocktails, no dessert, no coffee or tea. Expensive. Disappointed.
This place has gone down the hill!! My wine tasting flight arrived in dirty glasses with food particles stuck on. Yuck! Had to ask for bread rolls as none were brought in. The food was tasty but barely warm. Zero presentation. Waitress carelessly ran into our table, jolting the dishes. Will not be returning!
A co-worked and I were in town for a conference. Legal Sea Food was recommended by a few people so we made a reservation. My co-worker has a gluten sensitivity so our waiter, Rick G, was amazing. He went above and beyond to get gluten free rolls, prepare her stuffed lobster without crackers, recommend a dessert. That was important to her so the service was amazing. The food was just as good...highly recommend.
I've been to Legal Seafoods - Long Wharf several times in the past few years. We always make it a point to eat here at least once when in Boston. We have found that the Bar service is consistently incredible, but the table service and food is hit or miss. We have had great service, terrible service, and in this case, just average service. My reason for the poor review on this particular visit was the meal itself. We both ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese and at $34.00 a plate, I expected it to be worth the price. In fact, it was almost inedible. The pasta was undercooked, the top crust was burnt, and the lobster was so tough that you couldn't chew it. I typically wont complain to a server (and didn't in this case) because honestly, I expect that I shouldn't have to.
I don't want to be unfair and say that this is a "typical" experience, but it has happened enough times now to be a concern. After we left to head home, we both decided that if we return, we will probably just eat at the bar.
Very disappointing. The food was just not on par. Got the lobster bake for $44. Half the mussels were empty. The clams were not good at all. The lobster had no meat. The corn was mushy. We were shocked and so disappointed after traveling all the way from Columbus Ohio to experience this place. Do not recommend.
Our server was very nice, food and drinks were good, but the noise level is very high. When two people with very good hearing struggle to hold a conversation, it is too loud! We requested a quiet table but were given a table in a high-traffic middle area, very busy. I would have requested a change, but my friend arrived first and was already seated. I would choose a different Legal Seafood in the future.
Thursday I dined at the Legal Seafoods at Long Wharf in Boston. I had received an e-card from a co-worker so I decided to go then. While I was there, I had the pleasure of being served by a young lady named Sara. She was friendly, affable and always treated me like an honored guest. If I had a question about the menu or prices, she answered them without hesitation. I don't eat there often but when I do next time, I hope Sara will be my waitress again. Kudos to her and I hope Mr. Berkowitz sees this review.
The reservation was for 8 people. They tried to seat us at a table set for 6 -a booth that would have been very uncomfortable. And we’re very rude and said that was all there was. We asked for a proper table for 8. We were left for quite some time and told that was all they had. Finally a manager came and said he’d see if there was room in the back. They seated us there putting a few tables together. The service was not professional and we were cutoff and several of our party had to ask to order drinks and appetizers as she walked away without ensuring our orders were complete. Appetizer salads arrived with the main courses. The food was good. Not spectacular but good. Overall very disappointing service. We were visiting from Canada and taking friends back to legal seafood after 23 years. Sadly we will not be back nor recommend this restaurant.
Overall wasn't impressed with the ambiance and the way the tables were crammed together. Having been sat in the middle of the room we were in the constant walk through of what seemed to be every server coming out of the kitchen. The noise level was extremely high. The food was decent though my date got extremely ill after, he has scallops but I didn't, they were very gritty. This nay be a good place for a business function or group but for a date night that included a birthday I would not go again.
Ate there 10 years ago on a port day from cruise ship. Loved our stuffed lobster. This was another cruise & we wanted all the people with us to eat together. Making reservations for 14 was very easy. Everyone was accomodating. Waitress was great for such a large number. Food was just as good as we remembered. It was one of the high lights of our cruise.
Maybe it was an off night for them as I have been there in the past and had a much better experience than my latest visit. We had reservations and were meeting friends who arrived early and were already seated. The hostess stand fumbled around and couldn’t find our table while we stood there as they helped other diners. The food was ok but not up to the usual standards in my opinion. The fried entrees were over cooked, the service overly attentive to the point that we felt rushed and finally coffee was served with plastic creamer containers. That just says cheap to me. This is no longer my go to Legal if I’m not going to Harborside
