New England Clam Chowder
Half Pound Maine Lobster Roll**
warm butter-poached or traditional with lemon mayo, french fries & coleslaw
Baked Lobster Mac & Cheese
one whole Gulf of Maine lobster, Vermont cheddar, buttered crumbs
Amazing food with great company! I had 11 people with me and each person loved their dish but portions are big! Lobster, lobster Mac and cheese, grilled salmon, baked haddock amd shrimp scampi were all amazing! Only downside was it’s so popular that some food was finished so couldn’t get swordfish and even the red wine finished!
Food was great with great service!
I was charged for the New England clam chowder but never received it. I only realized it after leaving the restaurant.
Great place for fresh seafood. We’ve been to Legal Seafood a few times and have enjoyed every meal there.
Lobster roll was great!
The tuna was bland and needed some rice or something else. The plate was not worth $35. The server was nice and the wine was a good value.
Have always eaten at Legal every time we’re in Boston. The food has always been great - but not anymore. The food was over cooked (two of us had steamed lobster and the other couple we were with had the shrimp and the haddock). The vegetables and rice were under seasoned and as a result tasteless as well. The service and staff were very good- but sadly I can’t say the same about the food. You can have much better seafood elsewhere.
Brought a client here because the seaport district location was booked. Filled with tourists, which I kind of expected. Bathroom was gross. Trash was overflowing. Dirty masks and used paper towels all over the floor. Not a great impression to make to an international customer. Frankly I was embarrassed that the bathroom was so unclean. Our server was great. Food was par to above average depending on what you ordered. Parking at the Aquarium was $40...maybe I was there 2 hours.
Great lunch experience! Hopped off the Duck Boat and went right to Legal Seafood!
Menu was great, food was good and service was terrific.
Overall good time!
Great service and excellent chowder and lobster rolls and fires and coleslaw.
Unfortunately our waiter was not familiar with your wines and unable to offer alternatives to your menu. Also, no bread offered with dinner unless asked and no refill on water. Overall, the food was good, however, the experience suffered as a result of the poor service.
We had been many times before it was sold. Now, it’s terrible. We will never go back…too many other great restaurants around here. I have been eating here since 1968 when their first restaurant opened in Inman Sq. It’s a shame.
We were seated right away at 2:00 on a Sunday. Service was great. Food was exceptional
The service was the only thing I’d really question. It took quite a while to get some FaceTime with our waitress on multiple occasions.
We had a great time. The staff was attentive and the service was quick but they didn’t rush us.
We had a great time1 food was very good. our waiter was nice, prompt and funny.
Great food always consistent and waiter was very pleasant.
Lobster roll was excellent and my guests were able to share the entree fish and chips which was a huge portion . Staff very friendly and attentive and the sangrias very refreshing Saturday afternoon drink !
Food and service was excellent
Great atmosphere! Seafood was very good. French fries were Very greasy. Prices are not cheap but your in Boston. We always go there when we are in the area.
Overall the food was amazing and the service was great. But the staff did not discourage another patron to turn down her speakerphone on her cell phone while she was talking. So the person on the phone was very loud and it was disruptive to the other people eating in the area. But normally it is a wonderful experience.
What happened to your vegan menu?
It was great! Our server, Jose, was super sweet. The food was fantastic!!
Server would not accommodate a simple request to not get pasta in a pasta dish and said the kitchen could not do that! Huh!
The service was incredible, swift friendly and knowledgeable. The lobster was not as tasty as expected.
Bread was warm but a little old.
Waited for a table although we had a reservation. One tiny bread plate for 2 people to share.
Friendly servers, not much to see from the outside deck but we enjoyed our meal.
The food was very good. We had the lobster roll with butter, not lobster salad. It was delicious.
We also ordered a Greek Salad with grilled Salmon and Crab Cake Combo. The smashed potatoes that were ordered on the side of the crab cake combo were a little under seasoned otherwise everything was very good.
This restaurant like many is severely understaffed. Our waiter had 7 tables in the outdoor eating area and unfortunately the service we received reflected that - He was very polite, it we waited a long time for drink refills and for our order to be taken. We still gave him a very generous tip, but be prepared to sit a while.
Took my two college ages sons for dinner. Much louder than the other downtown Legal. Food quality was the same, but ambiance very different.
Absolutely loved all four of our meals. Excellent service great atmosphere.
I brought family from abroad on their last night in the city. I had been making it a big deal as “the place for traditional seafood” in Boston. Start of service took forever (even though our server was great!) We had an 8pm reservation and got last call from the bar at 9pm!!!!
Seriously?! Is not like they are selling me $1 beers!
I know Monday night is a slow night but we don’t get a discount for it being a Monday night!
Poor service, food was average at best. Was surprised at the lack of creative dishes
We were very disappointed with our recent visit to Legal Sea Foods. My husband went to grad school in Boston in the late 70's -early 80's and often ate at the original restaurant in Inman Square. We have eaten at Legal Sea Foods in DC, Philadelphia and whenever we are in Boston visiting our daughter, we make it a point to eat at Legal Sea Foods.
Unfortunately this will be our last visit. We immediately noticed that something was different. Our favorites (Fish Chowder, Fish & Rice & Cheese, Blue fish) were no longer on the menu. When we asked the waitress about this, she said that the company had been sold. Atleast in our opinion, their changes are not for the better.
Finally for a fish restaurant in Boston, the choices of fresh fish were minimal. Recently we ate at Big Fish Restaurant in Wilmington, Delaware. The fresh fish selection was double that of Legal Sea Foods.
Nice location. Consistent menu and tasty.
Service is outstanding and the food never disappoints - menu selections are awesome!
The food was nothing exceptional and the service was subpar. I don’t plan to return when I am back in Boston.
My salmon was very fishy tasting
The restaurant is in a heavy tourist area. The waiter seemed inexperienced and he appeared unfamiliar with the menu (both drink and food). He seemed uncertain the entire evening. We ordered appetizers first and the wait staff was standing by our table with our entrees before we even had a chance to finish our starter. We got the impression they were interested in "turning the table" as quickly as possible. The quality of the food was good but not as good as other Legal Seafood locations we have visited. The environment is a hectic and overall it was a disappointing dining experience.
Enjoyed lobster roll very much
