Best seafood I’ve ever had. Would absolutely attend again
I wasn’t super impressed with the lobster roll I received. Literally tiny cold pieces of lobster in a hoagie bun. Really no kid options and that’s okay because I realize it’s more geared towards adults there. The food was good, but not excellent. Not for over $100 and us being out of town. I have eaten at a lot of seafood restaurants along the coast and this wasn’t in my top 5 for sure, but the service was polite and as fast as they could have been. Recommendation is first time incentives for more expensive meals. Paying $60+ for a surf n turf is ridiculous. Maybe better combo options would allow for a smaller more affordable meal or even a family style portion for the entire table. More gluten free options as well considering it is a tourist area. It was good for the overall though. Just giving you my personal insight on the entire experience.
Reservations at legal
Thru open table. When we arrived and checked in we were told in no nice way that we were at the wrong restaurant. The receptionist couldn’t have been more rude. We were told that they were very busy and there was nothing they could do. No can I call the other location and hold the reservation. Just NO. Since Strega took
Over Legal they took on the Strega/east Boston rudeness. They tout themselves as a high end rest when they are just a mediocre chain living
On their past reputation! Your money is spent better almost anywhere in the n end Boston.
The food was not impressive to my opinion given the high rating for this restaurant! I had fish and chips.
Wonderful seafood and atmosphere! Sat outside and it was perfect!
Had a lovely dinner for my moms 60th. Hadn’t been to Legals in a long time and the food was delicious, our waiter Nick was fantastic, and the wine he recommended delicious
It was very nice and the restaurant was busy. Great location. Food was very good.
Food prep is of a high standard, but the menu is much reduced from previous times, perhaps one of those Covid menu reductions... reduced to rather tourist staples, even the "Test Kitchen" items: I tried the seared tuna steak in a coconut broth sauce with Thai salad, on a short Test list with other hot entrees, but this came room temperature. Asked to have it heated up, but came back same. Accosted mgr. to report and he informed that it was intended to be a salad dish. Apparently, the Thai salad, slim juliennes of some vegetables that were garnished on top, made it a salad. They graciously took it back and brought me the salmon plate, much better. They comp'd us some bon bons for dessert....
...which leads to the very short, old school, somewhat heavy dessert list: NY cheesecake, Keylime pie, Boston Cream Pie, chocolate bon bons (3 of filling choice).
For the rich bon bons, I ordered a Drambuie, classic liquer. They didn't have it. Ok, the suggested Hennessey cognac. When it finally arrived, an apology was made for the delay as a bottle had to be fetched from downstairs.
Servers and host were very congenial, gracious and apologetic accordingly.
It's fairly loud acoustically inside, especially with the young adult party in the open back room. We had looked forward to the wharf outdoor seating, but weather/temp was not in favor of that.
We are not inclined to return.
Great service and very fine food.

Great seafood prepared perfectly . Service was excellent
I came here while on vacation. The food was good, but it was a little expensive for what it was. The servers were nice and attentive, but the atmosphere was a bit off.
I was skeptical that a restaurant in a major tourist area would be good- it’s not like they need repeat customers when so many people pass by daily. I was totally wrong! It’s not a sticky menu tourist trap. It’s a great restaurant! Our server really good, very personable and professional. I can’t eat anything with gluten in it, and my usual options are pretty limited. At Legal Seafoods, I had tons of safe gluten free options, including fried food prepared in a designated fryer. I was thrilled to be able to eat crispy fried calamari, French fries, etc. I had the Fisherman’s Platter and it was delicious! Huge, but so good! My husbands’s lobster mac and cheese (not gluten free) was served in the split lobster shell and he said it was really good. I’d 100% eat there again!
Just arrived in town and walked over from hotel. Our menu choices were great - exceeded expectations.
Our waitress however was beyond excellent!
We were a group of 7. Overall a Really good evening with food and friends. Swordfish was a bit overdone, and one person did not receive their order of clam chowder. I have a shellfish allergy and all of your servers went out of there way to make sure I was kept safe. The only real downer was the host, who was not willing to accommodate us with outside seating. I know it is first come first serve but we were a party of 7 and I requested it in the notes of my reservation. We spent almost $500 on our dinner. Just expect a bit more in the way of accommodation.
Would I recommend Long Wharf to a friend…yes but with a number of caveats.
Food was delicious however the service was extremely lacking. Waitress was rude and seemed uninterested in answering our questions. She never came back and checked on us. Overall, the restaurant would do well to screen or retrain their staff. We were celebrating a birthday and it wasn't acknowledged at all.
The staff was very accomodating, the food was well done. This location seems to continue the consistancy that Legal was built on.
Slow service.. clams where average at best
We are visiting from Dallas and wanted to enjoy a nice meal. We were so surprised by the lack of service on the patio. We were eating an early dinner so there weren’t many people in the restaurant and only one other couple on the patio. My husband had to flag down a waiter. But the main disappointment was the food. We have better, fresher tasting seafood in Dallas with better presentation and not overcooked. With cocktails the dinner was well over $100. I think this place is over rated. Go somewhere else.
Very attentive waitstaff. Nice surroundings. Appetizers and meal were delicious, as usual.
Delicious seafood, salads and the best strawberry shortcake in the world!
Best legal seafoods hands down
Great food and service! Members or our party have dietary restrictions (gluten&dairy). They took such good care of us.
Rita was super helpful and so friendly and nice. Joe (one of the chefs) came out to double check to make sure they got everything right and even offered to cook special meals for us.
Everything was fantastic and we really appreciated how they made the extra effort to make sure we were accommodated.
Did not get requested outdoor seating. Service was slow at first then very good, friendly waiter and timely meals. The food was ok, not great.
The seafood here is great and there are always healthy options. The service is friendly and attentive.
It is not the Legal Seafood of the 1960s (very low key, great fish and not terribly expensive) But it still serves great seafood in an upscale atmosphere. The New England Clam Chowder is still awesome.
Great dinner for our first anniversary. Would recommend!
Great place for a family crowd, welcoming staff, and awesome food
Overall good experience.
Lobster roll was delicious. Not a place for crafted cocktails. They were okay.
We reserved the table almost 2 months before and were greeted by a rude hostess who put us at a table top in the bar. When we asked for a better table, she darted away, leaving us in the dust, brought us into a main dining area filled with noisy patrons. We were never offered an outside table. Overall, very poor service. We left.
Service was very good. Food was good, but lobster rolls weee outrageous
Great food, excellent menu & Value.
Limited draft beer options.
Awesome place! Use open table for reservation so no wait
It’s roughly the same price as many other seafood places in Boston but they certainly give you huge portions of seafood for the price! Most dishes could definitely be split. I think my husbands scallop plate had 12 giant scallops; my tuna Takaki appetizer was enough for a main course-glad we ordered it for the four of us to share! The swordfish steak was delicious. Was going to avoid it bc it’s a ‘chain’ but so glad we went!
Service was outstanding. Meals were very good. Wish they had a broader selection. Miss he onion rings available from former owner.
Outstanding service, food and drinks! I would highly recommend!!
Enjoyed the food server and great atmosphere. Nice table by the window!
Very nice restaurant. Food was excellent! Our go to restaurant when we are on the area!
