New England Clam Chowder
Half Pound Maine Lobster Roll
warm butter-poached or traditional with lemon mayo, french fries & coleslaw
We were sat right in front of the doors with a 5:00 pm reservation. Because people were coming in it was freezing and we immediately asked to be moved. The manager said he would move us…. The waiter came and said might as well order a drink while we wait. The manager never came back and we finally asked our waiter to ask him if he found something . He just blew us off. Very rude. He never apologized or returned at all. I Would never go back. Treated like you don’t matter is unforgivable.
The service was unreliable at best. Waiter didn’t know the market price of an item. Change over as we were eating our meal. New waiter never brought the dessert that we ordered and never brought our bill. We left money on the table.
Very good, but my crab roll was a bit dry with just crab and a roll, no dressing. All good, but not quite as wonderful as I'd remembered from 60 years ago!!
Great food and friendly service. Unfortunately, a fire alarm, apparently connected to an adjacent building, went off early in our meal and lasted for several minutes until turned off by firefighters arriving at the other building. Since we were sitting right next to one of the alarms, we were not able to have any conversation over that noise for several minutes. The manager stopped by twice to apologize and I am not sure there is anything else they could have done
One note on the menu. The crab cake starter for $12 and the crab cake sampler for $39 were virtually identical except the sampler had a few grilled shrimp and scallops plus a small bowl of rice. In the future, I would get just the crab cake starter as a much better value, and if needed, add some small side to that
Our table was really dark due to lightbulb burned out overhead. Fire alarm went off and took awhile to turn off. Food was ok, nothing great. Dessert menu was weak.
Rick was just the best waiter. My husband had lobster Mac and Cheese and I had stuffed lobster and both wereoutstanding. Loved the clam chowder as well.
Awesome place, great food, and service. Highly recommend
Great place to get some fresh seafood - service was good, although server was a bit chatty. Overall, my wife and I liked the experience.
Great seafood options. Good service. Located on Long wharf. We ate here three times. Great lobster roll, clam chowder and fresh fish.
Waitress was awesome!
The Maine lobster was so good and the swordfish steak was delicious
Great place for lunch or dinner and the food is outstanding. The only problem we had (party of 4) was our waitress. Very poor on follow-up with drinks and even brought check before asking about dessert. We ordered 4 cups of coffee and dessert. When asked for refill of coffee, never came back.
We visiting Legal Seafood expecting it to be outstanding due to our viewers recommending it. I ordered the Lobster and it was overcooked. The scallops were good in the stuffing. The shrimp was overcooked in the stuffing as well. I was dissapointed. My husband got a crab cake that he loved but his shrimp was overcooked too. We visited for lunch on a Friday. We do not plan on going back.
We were crammed into a tiny table in the window which would have been great except the couple behind us were on top of us. She played with her hair and it ended up in my glass. 🤮 our waiter was having an off night I guess. He was a mess. Took forever just to get water. We never saw him. Had to flag down to place an order. I heard the chowder was good so I tried and my husband ordered chicken as he doesn’t like sea food. The chowder was about as good as a can of Campbell’s. My husbands chicken tasted AWFUL! It had hints of fish taste to it, so I’m guessing the surface cooked on had fish previously. I love fish and this chicken grossed me out. He was starving and ate it. The restaurant is in need of an overhaul. I think at one point it probably looked nice but the carpet is barely holding on, and could use fresh paint and deep cleaning. We wouldn’t come back even if it was free.
No view here, but it's centrally located. The chowder is great and the Cioppino is loaded with shellfish and lobster! Buttered potatoes are not good but the broccoli was great.
Not as good as it used to be…lobster was overcooked and mac and cheese was dry on top. Clam chowder was great as usual.
We booked an Open Table reservation on my 50th birthday based on a recommendation from a Boston friend. We were very excited to go and looked forward to it as the ending of our weekend vacation. The food was excellent, but our service was mediocre at best. We were also seated in the bar area which was noisy and lacked the ambiance expected for such a nice meal. It was fine, but definitely didn’t live up to what we had expected.
Fantastic Chowder of course and excellent preparation/ flavors on the main dishes.
overpriced. The baked lobster with Macaroni has no meat. We ordered large lobster but came one was so small. Very disappointed!
Delicious seafood dishes. We had a super nice and attentive waiter. Love the location. Parking nearby is expensive but the restaurant does validate.
We dined outside in the patio area at 4:30pm and it was very quiet and relaxing. There was only 1 other couple dining after a family with kids left soon after we arrived. It was a bit chilly but felt very safe as we ate. Raw and fried clams were delicious! Caesar salad was ok nothing special. Chowder was good! Women’s bathroom was a bit in disarray as paper towels had run out and roll of toilet paper was set on sink top along with a roll of paper towels. We enjoyed our shared appetizers and would consider returning in the future
Friend visiting from out of town
Great server. Food was underwhelming and expensive for the quality. Tourist trap. Loud.
Really good! This was our first trip to Legal Seafood and we weren't disappointed. The cocktails were delicious and the food was great! Bread came quickly to the table and our oysters and clam chowder came in a timely manner. We ordered fried shrimp (so good!) a combo platter of crab cakes & scallops and a scallop dish. Everything was delicious.
Loved the food and ambiance 👏🏼
I was so looking forward to having delicious seafood here, and wasn't disappointed. I always go for dishes with multiple types of seafood because I like variety. I also ordered the calamari which was absolutely delicious. We were seated right away and the service couldn't have been better! Can't wait for my next visit.
Mediocre food. My past experiences with Legal were great - not this time. The worst oysters Rockefeller I've ever had - overdone and dry. Indifferent service. Table lighting was terrible, needed flashlight to see food!
Last visit to this chain.
Seated before reservation time. Nice table. Waiter did excellent job. Great lobster rolls and raw tuna. Lobster Mac n Cheese missed the mark and the fish tacos were not the best.
We kept hearing about this restaurant and wished we had gone earlier. We ordered Steak tips on a Ceasar Salad, meat tender and such good flavor, I had the Colossal Shrimp scampi and had 2 generous meals from it. Service excellent and never intrusive. A 5 star evening
Visiting Boston for a break from dullness of COVID
Food was average at best. Service was ok young bartender was a bit of a wise a**. Manager was very nice but It no longer lives up to the old reputation
Host told us only table available was near a large party that would be arriving within an hour of us. Asked if there was another option and he said no. He told server he was seating us and she said no, they were setting up for party. Suddenly, another table became immediately available. Food was amazing. Service was mediocre.a server kept walking by us who was very descheveled and terrible body odor. Very unpleasant while trying to enjoy a nice dinner. Lights were "automatically" turned down (per management) to a level that made it hard to see dining companions. Not a big deal if candles/lamps were provided, but it was just dark, and I am used to fine dining.
Such great food and service. We loved it!
We were disappointed that there was not a lobster option where the lobster was served without having to shell it ourselves.
Service was less than average. We saw our waitress twice. Once to take our order and once to give us our bill.
There is much better seafood and better options almost anywhere in Boston. Selection is way too small and staff unfriendly. What we got was okay but not exceptional.
Menu had a good selection and our server did an excellent job.
Our server, Gerson, was absolutely fantastic!!! The lbster was amazing!
Celebrated a couple's 50th anniversary. Delicious food and fun evening.
Nice location. Great service. Both dishes were very well done and presented well.
Gf menu is limited. Guys please have some gf sauce for your tuna, how hard can that be. No gf rolls in 2021? Cmon.
