This was a bon voyage intimate family meal before our daughter headed back to London where she is living. Quality seafood, excellent service and good choices. Many thanks. . .
First trip to Boston. Great place. Best crab cakes anywhere and I mean anywhere.
Very pleasant experience. We ordered something not on the menu and our waitress was able to accommodate our request. You did not have the seafood platter on the menu which my boss really likes. The food was delicious as always.
Good place for a casual business lunch. 4 stars not 5
because the bar had no Worcester sauce!
The seafood is wonderful one of the best in MA. The service is wonderful and have an "anything is possible" frame of mind. Highly recommend for lunch, drinks and snacks ,and dinner.
The Kendall Square Legal continues to perform beautifully despite the corporate nature of the chain. The fish is reliably wonderful, and there are enough creative twists that it never gets boring. Service is intelligent and attentive. Only gripe is that the last decor update left the main dining area looking bland and "generic seafood place." Continues to be a best bet for business or family meals.
Everything was delicious! Our server Dot was wonderful! She was kind and efficient!
After not so good service, we gave 15% tip and the waitress was asking for more money.
The food was ok but we had bad service. First, it took ages for our server to take our order and another server came to take his place after we called out. Then wet for denied beer despite the fact that both of us were 35 years old. The service just went down hill from then on.
Great food and ambiance. Fish was fresh and well cooked.
Excellent seafood, though a bit pricey for what you get.
Excellent and fresh seafood. Great ambiance. A good place to meet my cousin visiting town who I haven't seen in several years
As always the food was excellent as well as the service. We were not rushed and the server was there for us but never felt intrusive. A sign of the times the Bluefish is not always available. If there is any complaint Legal Seafoods has shrunk the menu too far. I remember when they had a dozen different Salmon choices. Still an excellent restaurant with quality food and great service.
Above average seafood restaurant. Had shrimp cocktail, chowder and mixed grill which were fine and fish with mixed grill were moist, cooked perfectly.
Legal is always a good, solid and consistent choice for business meals, especially with visitors from areas where seafood is not as abundant. We had a great experience, as always.
Food was great, service (both wait staff and hosts) were meh. So I'd go back but hopefully the people I encounter have a little more pep in their step!
We came to Legal Sea Food by recommendation and we ate fresh oysters, clam chowder, crab cake and Cioppino and I have to say that the food, especially the Cioppino was excellent and absolutely worth its price. But.....the service was really poor (and we come from Europe so we are used to some delays) Starting with not interested attitude of staff at the reception to confirm my reserved table and ending with having their backs turned to us when we left (before they looked at the meager tip we left). It took 10 minutes before taking first drinks order, cold water only arrived after that and 5 minutes after asking and we had to continue asking for re-fils. Bread was put on the table with butter but we didn't have silverware or napkins yet that was not remarked by the waiter so we had to ask. The bottle of wine didn't come automatically after apperetives had finished and also not with the starter and when I asked for it, it finally arrived 15 min later when we had finished our starter already... Main course came again 20 min later and there was no spoon with my Cioppino (fish soup). The waiters seem to be drugged while the apparent owner who was waiting tables with a nice dress (other than waitstaff) was desperately trying to make up for their lack of attention and speed. The upside was bonding with other patrons about who would get his water order first and wishing each other good luck on the next course.
Really the worst service we have ever experienced and the quality of the food could not make up for it.
This has been an extremely pleasant place - but perhaps not on a Friday - service too slow!!
Good place for high quality seafood, both local and from farther afield. Basic preparations (baking, grilling and frying) are well done and the wine list has plenty of scope for accompanying the food.
the food is good as usual, but the expense is starting to get prohibitive, especially for dinner.
The space is beautiful and the location convenient. The food was disappointing, however. For example, the Lobster Bisque does not fit the description provided and was clumpy with too much thickener and/or cream. It was also relatively cold. A total disappointment.
It was great!
Table was dirty and host did not provide a good service. Compare with Burlington restaurant, it is far behind.
Good food, good waiter. The fish was great and the mousse was pretty good as well.
Always a pleasant experience. Repeat every time I'm in Cambridge.
Love their fish chowder. Very few locations carry fish chowder. I was in town so had to have a bowl. Only other was I can get it otherwise is mail order.
It was a wonderful place to have lunch. Food and service were fantastic
Legal is so helpful to people with food allergies. I feel so lucky that I can trust Legal for quality food that is delicious and that works with my dietary restrictions. Thank you!
We enjoyed our meal and were able to talk comfortably without much noise or disruption. However, I was disappointed in the food. It was good, but not up to the standards I remember from the Legal Seafood of days gone by. Fish (Ana's cod) was fresh and good, but the rest was very ordinary.
We told the waiter that we were celebrating a birthday, and they brought a slice of chocolate cake with our after-dinner coffee. Service was great and food is always tasty!
Raw Clam was not fresh, service was poor
I've never had a bad experience at any Legal Seafood and Kendall Square was no exception. Our waiter was superb, just the right amount of helpful. You wont regret ordering their baked stuffed lobster.
Went to dinner relatively late, around 8:30. I imagine this location is packed during the week, but pretty empty on a summer weekend night.
Quiet booth, shrimp wantans (steamed, not fried). Fantastic way to start dinner with a glass of chardonnay. Opted for the seafood casserole, a little bit of everything including lobster and scallops.
Great service, very attentive.
I would rate this very high. No waiting, perfect seafood, great experience.
Fresh seafood, they deserve a good rating with strong history in seafood business!
Delicious food, service seriously lacking.
After a long wait, one person's drink came, but not the other's.
Then appetizers came, still no second drink.
The fizz of first person's sparkling wine starts to fade. Two different stories about why second person's drink is not forthcoming.
Finally after much waiting, the second drink comes and the toast can finally be made.
And immediately the main courses are delivered despite the appetizers not being finished yet.
The wine and beer which have been ordered to come with the meal do not arrive. Then the wine arrives along with news that the beer is not in stock. Surely this could have been mentioned when it was ordered? Or at any other point in the intervening 30-40 minutes?
At the end of the meal, another drinks mishap---the server starts to remove a half-finished glass of wine (ordered by the glass, not bottle) along with the empty plates. Which you just don't do unless the person requests that the wine be removed.
The seafood is consistently excellent, the wine list good and the atmosphere relaxing. But 2 out of the 3 times I have dined here, it has seemed like the servers' first night on the job.
As expected a great dining experience.
Way below the LSF standard. An early Friday evening dinner for 4; three of the entrees were unacceptable- baked cod was mushy and inedible (sent back and replaced satisfactorily); menu failed to mention that the "tuna sashimi" on the rice bowl was blackened. Chef and manager both came by to express regrets but neglected to offer any accommodation.
Excellent food. Always a great experience, and they insist that you have correctly prepared orders. Otherwise, they make sure you are happy.
Dot was great
The hot-buttered-roll option for lobster rolls is very successful. Glad to see it offered. Dinner rolls, as always, very fresh and tasty. Cole slaw well prepared too.
