Legal Sea Foods - Kendall Square
It’s a scientific fact that seafood is the healthiest protein, so it’s no wonder that Legal Sea Foods located nearby MIT and a whole catch of biotech office buildings in Kendall Square would be such a popular lure. Our restaurant, steps from the Marriott Hotel and convenient to Cambridgeside Galleria shopping and the Museum of Science, reels in residents and tourists alike.
We’ve received a boatload of accolades including “#1 Best Seafood Restaurant” (USA Today, 2013), “Most Popular Boston Restaurant” (Zagat, 2012/2013), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Improper Bostonian, 2010), “Best Chowder” (Boston Magazine, 2010) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.
It was a wonderful meal with exceptional service!
Legal is a great place for a nice lunch in Kendall Square. Food is always excellent. Can be a bit noisy. Suggest that you make a reservation.
always great. get the Mediterranean Salmon.
Legals is always a great choice in Kendall. Enjoyed their special shrimp tacos this time!
Host was very attentive, sat quickly with good service and good food. Great place for a business lunch in Cambridge.
I am not sure if that is because of super bowl or not, the waiter doesn't seem to pay attention at all. That was one of the worst legal seafood experience for me.
Muy buena comida, ambiente y atencion adecuados.
One of my all time favorite places - always consistent.
Outstanding food and drink. Expert friendly waiter. We had oysters, shellfish wine flight, grilled scallops, no sugar added chocolate mousse and age port wine flight. Expensive but worth it. Ambiance could be a bit more “hip” We’ve been coming for 25 years.
I will never tire of Legal’s crab cakes!
Oyster stew was VERY OVERPRICED and bland. Nothing exciting about the food.
Pleasant décor and good service.
Weren't impressed with the food -- doesn't seem worth the high price. I came here a few years ago, and it seems the quality has dropped since then.
All personell were helpful pertaining to parking. The menu for adults was good. I wish that the children's menu were extended to more fish dishes (e.g. salmon burgers etc) Mac and cheese and pizza do not hit home for me to order for a child at Legal S.
As is usually the case, we were seated promptly, service was excellent and the food was great. Good attention to our gluten allergies; a fun and relaxing evening in a warm and friendly environment. Great for a cold, raw, winter evening.
All great except a friend felt his fish was not medium rare as he had ordered.
Nice place , good service 👍🏻
Our server gave us "excellent" service. The food was tasty and the atmosphere was very cozy and classy!
Great ambiance with lots of positive energy. Went their for a family dinner on Xmas eve. Great time!!!
Great for group
Server had good food knowledge
Fresh and well prepared
I love Legal in Kendall. We got s great table, and the service was great. I still think $18.00 is a lot to pay for haddock at lunch! But I love it there and will go back. What I like is it is consistently great, great service food, clean. So I will be back. The waitress was excellent too.
I booked this for Company Holiday dinner. Our servers had everything in hand and were super attentive. We had such a grand time and look forward to eating there again in the future. All the food was just completely delicious!!!!!
Generous portions and tasted very good
There is no better clam chowder anywhere. Added to the perfect lobster roll it was a bite of heaven on a rainy Cambridge night.
Very bad service.
They brought me bread that looked and tasted like being a couple of days old
I am so disappointed in the Legal Sea Food Fried Seafood plate. There was way too much calamari, way too little scallops and clams and none of the pieces were cooked right: they were all overcooked and dry. You would think that Legal's in Cambridge, where they started, would be the best. It seems as though they have forgotten how to fry fish that is appealing to the eye and to the taste. Shame on Legal's for not producing the best product in the region.
good service as usual. but, ordered salmon well done and half of it was very rare. the well done part was fabulous (cajun flavor), the other inedible for me. was having too pleasant a lunch otherwise to take time to complain.
Vast improvement on my last visit here In terms of both the food and the service.
The food is still not the same standard I remember from a couple of years ago.
I love Legal’s in Kendall Square, one of my favorite locations.
The fish is always delicious and I like the atmosphere of the restaurant and surrounding area.
As usual, the food and service were good, albeit not outstanding. However, we were disappointed that the polenta is now fried in the same fryer as the shrimp, which meant that my wife (who is allergic to shrimp) can no longer eat the delicious cheddar jalapeño polenta.
We ate here with another couple for my husband's birthday and had a great time. We were an interracial group and felt comfortable with the mix of patrons. The atmosphere was lively and upbeat but not loud. The food was delicious--I had arctic char with with jalapeno polenta and kale salad; my husband had the seafood casserole. I forget what the other couple had, but the four of us shared an order of fried clams as a starter. We got one of the cheaper bottles of wine and really enjoyed ourselves. The decor is low-key and appealing. The service was very good.
The ambiance is just so so. The tables are close together so there is not much privacy. The food is also very experience for what you get.
Everything was great!
Service was great. Went for a smaller post thanksgiving meal with an appetizer and salad. Tuna tartar was downing in a salty soy sauce that overpowered the beatific cut of seared tuna. Caesar salad was overly salted too. One beer an 4 glasses of water to wash the salt away.
They were very accommodating when one of our party was late for reservation. Nice service. Food was good but not wow. Prices are fair for the locale.
We were promptly seated for lunch by a very friendly greeter. After being seated in a relatively quiet area, we served immediately by a very friendly server. She was personable and provided some great options for my colleague and I to consider. The food was delicious and on par with what I consider a really nice restaurant.
Food was lukewarm but expensive. Terrible value. I had fish and chips. Service was good.
Prompt service and good food
Their prices have gone up for the chowder but other prices are fairly reasonable. The food is consistent quality with good service.
The waitress was wonderful, and everyone enjoyed their meal.
Always reliable. I think Kendall is our favorite location. Very helpful waitstaff who were accommodating of the kids in our group of 8. Outstanding oysters (November is a good month!).
