Raised our lunch from a meal to a special occasion!
We sat at the bar and the bartender was amazing (unfortunately, I cannot remember her name) Very personable and her service was excellent. The food came out hot, fresh and delicious. I highly recommend the Shrimp Scampi - The linguini was fresh, not out of the box and the shrimp were extra jumbo and cooked perfectly.
Food was delicious. Servers were pleasant, in fact holding up well. The restaurant was very busy.
I noticed that a bartender was wearing his mask on his lower face, and so many diners were not wearing their masks when they were being seated or waiting to use the restrooms. These are challenging times. Perhaps the restaurant could have more signage regarding Boston’s mask rules, and certainly all of their staff should abide by the rules.
The service and ambience were great! They even seated our reservation early so we would make our show. The food though was just ok. We got the sesame crusted tuna, baked haddock, Legal seafood combo, and grilled shrimp. Honestly, all of the meals were just ok…they really lacked good strong flavor.
This was our first time at the Downtown Crossing location. Nice spot. We had a circular table near the bar area - well lit and away from the noise and bustle of a busy restaurant. The service was fantastic our waiter very professional. Food was great as always.
Lobster roll was okay. Didn't sparkle. Bland. But good and friendly waiter!
Service was outstanding, very attentive. Clam chowder was amazing with lots of clams. Seared scallops delicious.
Great food and great service. Will come back soon.
I had a lovely anniversary dinner, everything from the food to the service and more was wonderful!! A great dressy date spot!
Everything was wonderful. My only problem was that the sign on the outside of the restaurant did not say Legal Seafood Downton Crossing so we walked by it twice before realizing what it was.
Really good meal. I enjoyed eating here very much. It is definitely pricey but you get a lot of food for your money. Would recommend.
The location and ambiance were very good. Wait staff very kind but overworked perhaps, was hard to get crackers, water, etc. The Wellfleet oysters were very good as were the accompanying sauces. The clam chowder was fair while the mixed plate of crab cake, shrimp and scallops were OK, the crab cake was excellent and the sauce, however the shrimp and scallops were dry and flavorless.
The host was friendly and helpful. He went to clear a table for my reservation.
Dinner consisted of a perfectly-cooked Sole Lemon Caper with sliced, roasted potatoes and green beans. Meagan C, my server, checked on me regular and was overall stellar -- kind, friendly, professional, and knowing when my drink glasses needed refills. Legal Crossing is one of my favorite restaurants in the United States, not just Boston.
Everyone enjoyed the meal. Service was good.
It was great to get back to the Theater district and see a play and have dinner. The menu was larger than before and the service and food was really good.
Delicious scallops and cioppino.
Surprisingly disappointing. We’ve eaten at Legal’s for years, although because of the pandemic, not recently. This wasn’t the restaurant we remembered.
I’m never disappointed when I dine at this location.
Great service and a perfect place for dinner after a show.
So excited to be back and going to the theater again. Great location and our server was excellent! Attentive to time constraints for theater goers and knowledgeable of the menu. Super friendly and made our visit so pleasant!!
I was a bit disappointed that the unique Asian style small plate options were mostly gone. Rhode Island calamari good but I was not expecting that the banana peppers would be breaded and fried as they hadn’t been in past Legals visits. Also a bit disappointed that the lobster roll, while large and filled with lobster, was all claws with no knuckle or tail meat. Bonbons were as good as I remembered!
Legal Sea Foods has changed ownership during the Pandemic but the quality of their seafood has not changed one bit. Still the great dishes we return to when we can. This visit was pre theater and many of the diners were doing that, also. Perfect fit.
Our waiter was the best ever. Very solicitous and took special pains to be sure my dining was wheat free. Food was delicious. And decaf cappuccino was best I ever had
In town for a show at the Opera House. Restaurant was very busy but the service was impeccable and the apps and dinners were great as usual! Two different pie dessert choices were mediocre, but the rest of the experience was great!
It was lovely to be back 'out in the world.' We were very well taken care of but it was clear that the pre-theater crowd was a bit challenging. We look forward to going back.
Early dinner pre-theater, just right.
We have been in hiding b/c of covid but ventured back to one of our neighborhood places after full immunizations to discover it has turned into another bridge and tunnel crowd restaurant for those going to see musicals at the opera house. Roger Berkowitz’ hand on the kitchen product is sorely missed. It had been designed with aspirations to serve higher end different seafood compared with the other Legals and missed that mark although the food wasn’t too bad in the orecovid past. This time, excellent service couldn’t make up for overcooked previously frozen fairly tasteless grey sole and fried clams that didn’t taste much like clams scattered on soggy French fries. A clam shack serving that order would close quickly. The clam chowder still holds up but the oysters Rockefeller ruined good oysters with a small dab of bad “Rockefeller”- wouldn’t make it in the Big Easy. No returns for us- we can walk another block or so for much better food. Sigh.
We are so sad that Roger Berkowitz sold the local Legal chain of restaurants. The new buyers destroyed what was a consistent and delicious food option for seafood. Our food was inedible. Fish was not fresh, kale was all stems, baked stuffed shrimp was hospital quality, and a salad with salmon bacon, instead provided pieces of old smoked salmon. At a price of $275 including tip, dinner for four was a complete waste of money. We will not go back to any Legal ever again. Again, what a loss for our Boston community.
We had a very nice time at legal seafood before the play
Service was great as usual and food delicious - this was first time my niece ate here and enjoyed also
Great place for lunch before a show at the Opera House.
Our experience at Legal Seafood (Legal Crossing) was great. The food, service, and atmosphere are all excellent.
Excellent food and service
Ate here prior to going to the theater. Great location, our booth was super quiet. The Bang Bang cauliflower was terrific as usual, as were our entrees. Service was timed perfectly and and our waiter was delightful.
Excellent food, excellent service!
We had a wonderful pre-theatre dinner at Legal. Everything was great: service, food (especially oysters), wine and of course bon-bons. It’s always very busy on theatre nights so plan to be there early. It’s our go to place before Broadway in Boston.
Expectations fully met. Fresh delicious seafood. Reservation was right on time. Server was great.
We miss the park location but this location isn't too far away! Love coming here for lunch with my son. The staff always takes great care of us.
