The restaurant was very nice service was great even the managers came out to greet us.
Great food, service and ambient. Very friendly and professional staff.
The tale of two courses. The appetizer of calamari was poor - it was obviously frozen from a package. Not what you expect from a seafood restaurant. On the other hand, the main course - crab cake combo including grilled shrimp and scallops - was excellent as was the accompanying salad. A small but excellent and well-priced wine list. Our fault for not asking beforehand if the calamari was fresh of frozen.
This place does what it does well. The wife had crab cakes, lots of fresh crab, and I had lobster, tender and a good price. Our waiter was attentive, the drinks were good. And so on. Happy to come back.
Good food, great service from Caesar! If only it wasn't so loud....
Great service and excellent food. Always an awesome experience.
I made a reservation for the 2 for $29 lobster special on Feb 29th but they ran out of lobster!! Very disappointing. Won't go back.
We were invited to dine on the 29th for two at $29 total for a lobster and sides offering because of the leap year. I have two comments about Legal Seafood, which is one our "go to" restaurants for seafood. (1) they should reinstitute the use of pagers so that customers know that they are in line for a table based on their number in line. It's very annoying to see people being sat and you never know if and when you'll be called. I have had this happen before at LS where they sat people who came in after me and they didn't even have a reservation. I know because I was standing by the host and I heard the conversations. (2) the floor manager was very good about taking care of us after we were notified that they only had one lobster remaining. He offered us the one lobster and other top end items to choose for the second entree. In this case, I chose king crab legs and they were quite good. He also said we could return for the $29 special at a later date which was icing on the cake. We never expected that nor would we have asked for it. When they brough me the bill, the waiter charged us for two specials, or $58. When I asked him about it, he couldn't even understand that it was an error and resisted. I didn't budge at the idiocy of it and he finally asked if I'd like to speak with the manager, which I did. The manager not only brought over a corrected bill but apologized. Frankly, I'd rather just go to a restaurant and enjoy the evening rather than have to deal will all of the dramatics that this evening entailed but it's life. I hold no hard feelings but it's hard to understand how they couldn't use simple math to buy enough lobsters for this special. 100 reservations times x amount of people times number of lobsters. Is this so difficult?
They ran out of lobster but made up for it by offering the deal on another day! Great service and the GM rocks!
The restaurant was overwhelmed with LEAP DAY SPECIALS. We were seated at about 820 for our 730 reservation only to find out a few minutes before we were seated all the lobsters were gone.
The manager was quick to think what to do so gave us his card and told us to email him when we would want to come back and he would still honor the "special deal".
I was happy to go back and take my wife and friends this time and we will return again once we are back in the Crystal City area.
All the servers and employees did the best they could with the crowds so hats off to management for training them well and finding great people to work with them.
Went for a promo for $29 lobsters. Waited 40 minutes past our reservation time only to be seated and then told they ran out.
The wait was too long and the greeter didn’t project her voice loud enough to be heard. Like the reservation names.
Made a reservation for 6pm on Leap Day 2020 for my partner and I. There was a long line at the entrance, but the hostess checked us in when we finally made it to the front. We were seated within 8 minutes. Everyone was ordering the special, so food came out prompt and hot!
Food and service was good. We got there 15 min early for a 6PM reservation, and couldn't get to the hostess stand until after 6PM because it was so crowded. We didn't get seated until 6:50, they kept breaking up tables to accommodate smaller parties. So two top tables with reservations at 6:30 and 6:45 were getting seated before us because they broke up tables of 4 to tables of 2. We had 4 in our party.
Service was terrific especially for the crowded conditions at this location. Lobsters were unforgivably overcooked as were the brussel sprouts. Price was reasonable as a special was in place on lobster dinners. Normal prices are steep and cooking skills have been spotty, often lacking with previous visits. Wanted to give LS another chance to see if they had improved. Sadly, even the special offer didn't make up for the tough and chewy meat. This will likely be our last visit there.
Legal Seafood never disappointed me. This time I went with a friend after seeing a play at the Synetic theater. We had reservation for 5:15 and were seated immediately. Menus and water came in minutes but drink orders were not taken until we were half-way through dinner. No complaints because the place was crowded. The Management had a brilliant idea of offering 2, yes two, lobsters for $29.00! Seemed like the entire population of Northern Virginia showed up which created a friendly, festive atmosphere. The two-lobster plates were flying out of the kitchen.
However, we didn't feel like "working" for our dinner and ordered off the regular menu. My friend had the almond crusted salmon with spinach and I had the mixed grill of crab cake, shrimp, scallops and a wonderful vinegary salad. Everything was delicious and filling in a healthy way. We shared a little key-lime pie and drank the wine that finally reached our table. The check fairly represented the value and quality of a wonderful dinner. Hats off to Management for handling a huge crowd courteously and efficiently.

We went on Saturday for the lobster special with 2 sides. The food was terrific. Lobsters were cracked and the side of roasted butternut squash and sautéed spinach plentiful. We enjoyed the overall atmosphere even though it was crowded.
Very nice experience! We went for the Leap Year lobster special (by the way - if you go and assuming they do this again in four years, go early - our friends, who had evening reservations, waited over 30 minutes past their reservation time only to be told "no more lobstahs!!). Everything was cooked well - table was cramped but we managed. Service was outstanding. Since the Tysons location closed a while back we hadn’t been to another location but will be back. Also plenty of free parking in attached garage.
The two for the price of one lobster special was fantastic. Of course the restaurant was filled to capacity. Our seats were poor (right by the kitchen) which was very noisy and busy (distracting).
The February 29th deal was great. The place was packed while I was there. I miss living in Massachusetts and the food so this is the best if you’re not in New England. If it’s Legal it’s for me!!!
Very nice meal with attentive service. Seafood prepared well and not overcooked.
A must to visit if you’re in DC. We ordered fresh oysters, chowder, and desert.
Fish tasted like ammonia , lobster was over cooked, shrimp overcooked.
Server wasn’t that great!
The service was impeccable. The food was passable, the room was a bit warm. It is a run-of-the-mill chain restaurant in the business area. I believe we got what we paid for, but I do have to commend them on the service.
Delicious food and drinks. The service was outstanding. I will definitely go back if I am in the area again.
My husband and I went in for a cioppino; our favorite! Delicious!
Was a little disappointed with Bloody Mary though? Not up to muster!
Food was great. Enjoyed the experience!
My wife is a vegetarian but I am not. So we only go to place that offer some amount adaptation for non meat options. This legal sea food did not. I asked what options could be adapted and the waitress just pointed to the one option on the menu and say the sides (not listed on menu) were also available. Not the level of service or options I expect at this price point. Places like this make it had for a couple with mixed dinning preferences to enjoy dinner. Very dissatisfied.
Happy Hour is excellent and starts at 3pm. The food is great, and the service.
Outstanding service and food.
Parking a possible problem
Seafood is excellent. Price is not inexpensive but probably consistent with quality seafood. Service was prompt but not at all rushing; i.e., we were not rushed during our meal, but different courses were brought within a reasonable time.
We had some of the outstanding crab cakes and dessert options available at Legal Seafoods!
Better in Boston on the Wharf. Food was very bland and even the famous Clam chowder was below par.
Awesome experience! I would certainly visit again.
It was an all around great experience the food was great. I had the Crab cake combo
Delicious food. The customer service was outstanding!
This is the smallest Legal Seafoods I've been in and it was crowded and loud. Despite having an Open Table reservation, we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. The seating was cramped due to the small size of the property. Lemon Martini was made inconsistently and had to be sent back. The replacement drink was a little better but not as good as the first. Dining experience was not worth the cost of the meal.
St. Valentines: very good service, excellent food, a bit pricey but, hey, it’s only once a year
