Legal Sea Foods - Crystal City
For all those who love seafood in Crystal City, the world really can be your oyster. Choose from among the 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish we serve simply prepared, 365 days a year.
In season, our patio seating is a lure for those who choose the fresh seafood and fresh air combo.
Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. We’ve received a boatload of accolades including being named “#1 Best Seafood Restaurant” in a nationwide poll by USA Today (2013) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.
Had an issue with the appetizer, and the manager MADE it right at not additional cost as well as offered his apologies. Just the kind of service I like t Legal Seafoods. Server's recommendations were on point. My date and I spit an entre and the kitchen staff prepared it on separate plates. A plus we didn't ask for or expect. Nice touch. Will visit again!
There was a flood a
Food and service were great. But a pipe somewhere had burst, and water started cascading from the ceiling by the lights, making us fearful of an electrical problem. Nobody told the guests what was happening, discounted our checks, or anything else. Accidents happen, and people would have understood, but now we'll always remember sitting there helplessly while the restaurant seemed to be self-destructing.
Best seafood in Crystal City! I try to eat here every time I am in the area.
Great dinner and our server Halima was amazing. The Halibut steak was grilled to perfection.
Great meal awesome service
It was ok. My fish came out raw.
Great seafood with a variety of very fresh offerings. I have had a good experience in each location I have visited.
Have issues with my entree and manager took care of it
Sad to say, food was cold and greasy. Service was indifferent
Allow love the Chowder and Crab cakes.. they've changed up the menu a bit, so there aren't a lot of healthy options, but I love the food.
Easy to find location. Slightly crowded, but food was excellent! Had a wonderful time! Very accommodating. Unfortunately, I think we were the loud crowd. They maybe should not have sat us in the exact middle of the restaurant. Sorry. Would definitely come back!
Good and service was great!
Everything we had was wonderful. Great food, great service. Will definitely go back again.
A bit disappointing compared to prior visits. My tuna filet wasn't cooked as ordered and lacked somewhat in taste and overall appeal. I didn't enjoy brussel sprouts as a side dish. The wine list is very reasonably priced as always. Ambiance is very casual and more noisy than usual. Certainly not expensive, but this is casual dining.
It was noisier than I thought it would be for a midday meeting. The food has been better. Not bad, just not as tasty as I remember. Wait staff was exactly that. We waited more than we should've but I noticed he had several tables to cover. He came back to us repeatedly to correct or remember what he was suppose to do, because he had too many customers to serve.
Pricey. Lunch prices are not much different from dinner if at all.
Yes, I will return just to see if it was a fluke. I've been coming here at dinner for years and never had such inconsistent service.
Extremely disappointing. Service was subpar. Ordered the lobster bake. Food came out cold and then was served one item at a time when recooked. For the money it basically was a disaster. I will not be dining at Legal Seafood again.
Crab cakes are great. Always enjoy a variety of oysters on the half shell with a tasting flight of white wines. Always have a reservation. It is a little too noisy but what do you expect at such a popular place. Service is very good. Always eat there when I am in Crystal City.
Outstanding service from hostess to server- the manager was hands on and went out of his way to check on everyone in the restaurant as well as those waiting outside to be seated.
Will definitely return!!
My husband and I went to Legal Sea Foods for dinner prior to seeing a performance at Synetic Theater. I had the crab cake with shrimp and scallops; my husband had the cod. Both of the dishes were prepared perfectly and were delicious. We also each enjoyed a glass of the sangria, which was very good. The server was courteous and efficient. He made sure we were able to finish our meal in ample time to get to the theater. We will dine there again.
Consistently good food, but hard to hear. Oysters were great as were the crab cakes
Wait staff was stressed but coped well with the demands the crowd placed upon them. The oyster fest menu was outstanding and well prepared.
Absolutely amazing , seafood selection was above and beyond, too many choices actually. And I am a seafood lover.place was rather full which told me I'd made the correct decision to go to legal seafood. I actually could ear everything so I finished my fish portions but could finish the ample fresh fries , sigh. Everyone had a desert selection and we left feeling very full and quite. Satisfied.
Your wait staff was very knowledgeable, friendly very helpful and quite professional, nice to see. We will be back.
Staff and Service always great, was a little too load, we had to go outside, where it was quite..
Love their clam chowder. Crab cakes r great. Not slot of filler. Even like their fries which are not soggy but actually a little crispy. chioppino was also excellent. Always stop here for at least one meal when in DC. This trip I made it for dinner and lunch.
Excellent service and food just a bit overpriced.
I had dinner with three friends. The server was amazing and suggested exactly the perfect meal. The clam chowder was to die for. It was a good night and I would highly recommend this place.
Food was great as always! Service was top notch, Al's, as always. The noise was a bit much. Not sure anything can be done about that, but an overall very pleasant dining experience.
We love our cioppino!!!
Service was excellent. Mixed drink was delicious. Had 2 crab cakes - meal. Meal was delicious except a bit salty. Otherwise great experience.
Food and drink was awesome! I’m from down south and this was a nice change
A big zero on the baked oysters. Tried all of them and they must have used the smallest oysters they could find and what was lacking in oyster was filled with fillers.
Filet mignon was a good piece of meat but flavorless.
Brócoli was hard. Mini potatoes were good. Food served cool to warm temperature.
Waitress was very pleasant and attentive. Quite noisy restaurant.
Made a reservation yet they continued to sit people before us.
We were in town for the weekend, Legal Sea Foods is a place we usually go to while in Crystal City, and chose dinner with our children here. Kids menu's were packaged perfectly in a red net - good thinking! Our server was not friendly, didn't wow us, and was rarely seen. We had to ask her what her name was then proceeded with an excuse of why she didn't tell us her name, we needed to ask for specials, my husband sent back his unsweetened ice tea because it was something but not unsweetened tea, yet she gave us space to eat by ourselves. Not sure if that was intentional or not.
The kids meals - fried shrimp (lots of shrimp), fish and chips, were huge portions for our 9 and 5 year olds but they brought leftovers to the resort.
Fried Calimari with the peppers were delicious - our kiddos enjoyed them as well.
Husband ordered the crabcake platter - it had crabcake, scallops, shrimp and a salad, he enjoyed it along with my daughter who kept stealing his scallops.
I ordered a bowl of the cream of crab soup - super rich, delicious. Our little one was eating as much of it as she could.
So of course the food was great, the service should have been better. The point of being in DC is not all about the food, it's a nice accompaniment to the Memorials honoring Hero's in our Great Nation!
I had eaten at Legal Sea Foods in Boston years ago, and so was excited to see one in Crystal City. I had my favorite, Boston Cod, and it was delicious. Restaurant was gracious enough to swap the roasted tomatoes with broccoli because of a food allergy. I ate outside, and it was pleasant.
Variety of food was good, I had fried oysters some were ok some were not, waitress originally gave us a dinner menu at lunch and when I asked about lunch she said we are serving dinner but if you want a lunch menu I will bring it....otherwise all was very nice
Amazing! Enjoyed dinner for two at Legal’s Crystal City location on 8/30/19. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated by a very friendly hostess. We were greeted immediately by our server, Halima. She was the best! She helped us order exactly what we were looking for. She knew the menu like the back of her hand! We ordered the Baked Stuffed Lobster (buttery shellfish goodness) and the Steamed Crab Legs (sweet and succulent). Halima helped us order an off-menu item, Oysters Rockefeller, and they were MEAN. Hats off to the cooks! We finished off with the Cheesecake and an Espresso Martini. You can tell the bartender knows his stuff simply by the taste of the drink! The manager even came by to make sure our experience was wonderful (which it was)! We will be back soon!!
It's all about the service (Halima is the best!) and the food!
Food, drinks, and service were good. However, the AC wasn't working. The ceiling fans didn't really help.
