Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. We’ve received a boatload of accolades including being named “#1 Best Seafood Restaurant” in a nationwide poll by USA Today (2013) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Legal Sea Foods and look forward to dining there again in the near future.
Legal Sea Foods is a great place for fresh and tasty seafood. The raw oysters are some of the best in the region and the fish taco was also very good. The only downside is that it is fairly expensive. You need to budget about $100 per person if you are having a meal with a few drinks.
Great food and service!
Very good food and friendly atmosphere. We have been to every LSF restaurant starting in Boston at Beacon Hill.
I booked this for a client dinner. It was a disappointing experience. The food was average and the service was very mediocre. The venue was very hot and noisy - we asked several times if the heat could be turned down but it remained unbearably hot. Legal Sea Foods is expensive for the overall experience received. I thought it was on par with McCormick and Schmicks but based on this experience there's a big difference between the two.
We hadn't visited Legal Seafoods in a while mainly due to it's location and parking restraints. But we took a chance at a time that worked out great for reservations and parking. The food was excellent and the service superb!
Nice assortment of food choices, and the oysters were fabulous.
We have always enjoyed our meals at Legal. This particular visit used a gift card that was provided by the GM of their Boston location based on a bad experience my wife had around her dietary restrictions. This visit here in D.C. was very pleasant and we were happy with the experience. The only thing I want to mention was how incredibly salty the Seafood Casserole was. I mean wow, it was extremely salty but definitely edible so I didn't mention it. I took the remaining amount home I didn't finish thinking it would taste less salty upon my 2nd meal but no such luck. I recommend taming that salt content AND consider adding calories like many of your competitors have done. If I see calorie count at Chili's, I should DEF see it at Legal, see my point?
They took great care in providing us a gluten-free meal. When you present a food allergen, the manager will be the one to deliver your food from the kitchen. Everything was lovely.
Everything was lovely and the staff was pleasant
We enjoyed the gluten free options. Having a dedicated GF fryer let us order fried calamari. Yum!
Met a friend for lunch and had Legal’s Signature Crab Cake, which comes with a salad. Loved my meal and will order it again. The toasted farro on the salad was just perfect!
Best fried shrimp in the area!
We went for lunch before heading to the airport to catch a flight. I have been to this restaurant a number of times and this experience was similar to others. Overall, not a bad experience, but the service was a bit lacking. We had the fried clams and clam chowder to start both of which were good. When were done and waiting for our entrees, the waitress came to the table a couple of times and failed to clear our bowls and plates. Eventually a manager came by and noticed and cleared the plates. Also, my wife requested a butter plate when the clams were served and the waitress never brought it. I ordered the baked stuffed shrimp and the shrimp were overcooked, dry and tough. The stuffing was a lot of filler and not very tasty. My wife had the seafood platter with a crab cake, scallops, and shrimp which was a better choice. It also took longer than necessary to get the check and the waitress did not leave me a pen, so I had go to the bartender to get one. Not my best visit.
Restaurant needs more room -tables crowded together. Miss the Tysons location.
I will preface by saying that it was Christmas and the restaurant was very busy. Immediately on entering there was a very strong fishy smell, which was not pleasant. Staff were friendly and helpful. However, the food was a big disappointment, with the Clam Chowder being the exception. The seafood was dry and unimaginative, one person's vegetables were too tough to eat, and the calamari was overloaded with peppers and sauce, resulting in a layer of soggy pieces. The food gave us the impression of being taken for granted and the restaurant relying on name recognition to avoid putting any effort into producing sumptuous, palate-pleasing meals.
Appreciated increased size of appetizer. Would have liked a better “turf” selection (more than only one)!
Some of the seafood elements in the choppino were over cooked or obviously previously frozen.
My sister’s birthday!
We love this restaurant. The food is always fabulous and the service is fantastic. You can’t go wrong eating here.
Fantastic service and outstanding fresh food separates Legal Seafood from other restaurants. A must for any occasion.
Amazing food as usual! The staff and management team were very accommodating.
The fried oyster appetizer was really good. The oysters were really fresh, plump, and fried tp perfection. The two crab cakes were delicious as always. It is my favorite dish on the menu.
Great food, atmosphere. Make reservations it’s busy!
Terrific food—staff went above and beyond to accommodate our group of 4 plus a baby. Great evening and would definitely return.
Legal Seafood is one of my favorite restaurants. We frequently dine at the Gallery Place I had the crab cake (that I rarely get) & hubby had the grilled trout. Overall the meal was tasty, well seasoned, with good presentation. Food came out hot. Hubby had a rose’ wine and I tried the jasmine cucumber cocktail which was extremely blasé. (I won’t order it again.). Food was well timed between courses so didn’t feel rushed. Overall a pleasant evening.
The meal was excellent. Great location! I recommend the restaurant invest in a few larger tables for parties of 6 or more. The place setting was a little tight.
The experience was typical for Legal Seafoods wherever we have been to one. A great selection of fresh fish in a variety of preparations. Not a bargain, but reasonable value for what you pay for. If you go to one of them, you will know what you will get and be able to decide if you want to go again. It is a very good and safe choice if you are looking for seafood. Not much on the menu that does not come from the waters.
On business travel and celebrated my birthday with my colleague. Experience we very nice. Everyone was warm and kind. Food was great!
Great food. Fantastic service.
We got there early and they were able to seat us quickly. We loved it and plan to return soon.
Had an issue with the appetizer, and the manager MADE it right at not additional cost as well as offered his apologies. Just the kind of service I like t Legal Seafoods. Server's recommendations were on point. My date and I spit an entre and the kitchen staff prepared it on separate plates. A plus we didn't ask for or expect. Nice touch. Will visit again!
There was a flood a
Food and service were great. But a pipe somewhere had burst, and water started cascading from the ceiling by the lights, making us fearful of an electrical problem. Nobody told the guests what was happening, discounted our checks, or anything else. Accidents happen, and people would have understood, but now we'll always remember sitting there helplessly while the restaurant seemed to be self-destructing.
Best seafood in Crystal City! I try to eat here every time I am in the area.
Great dinner and our server Halima was amazing. The Halibut steak was grilled to perfection.
Great meal awesome service
It was ok. My fish came out raw.
Great seafood with a variety of very fresh offerings. I have had a good experience in each location I have visited.
