Legal Sea Foods - Copley Place Ratings and Reviews
My friend and I had a lovely meal at this restaurant. Our server, Karen, was very attentive and friendly! She showed a great knowledge of the menu and helped us pick cocktails and main courses. We were also impressed at the amount of staff that helped us beyond our main server! The manager and at least two servers stopped by to ask how we were doing and ask if we needed anything else. The view from our window seat was gorgeous and the host stand had no problem seating us, even though we showed up an hour before our reservation. We got an appetizer, two entrees, and two desserts, and each tasted and looked spectacular. My favorite dish was the coffee and chocolate Bon bons!
We chose Legal because of their fantastic allergy awareness. We have a list of anaphylactic allergies that we need to be able to trust the restaurant to provide a safe meal. It is why we return again and again when we are in Boston. We have been to 3 different ones in the city and all have handled our needs exceptionally.
As an occasional visitor to Boston I've been trying to make it to Legal for about 15 years, and finally succeeded this trip. In a city known for its seafood, Legal is the archetype, with a fabulous range of chowders, white fish, lobsters and more. Portions are generous and the fish is beautifully cooked. We especially enjoyed the grey sold and the seafood casserole.
My wife's fish was raw. Waitress never brought items such as lemon for fish or rolls and butter when requested. We go to Legal quite frequently in Dedham with much better results. This trip in town to visit a college friend who was staying for a convention was quite disappointing. Asked for a booth. Received one in a walkway near the kitchen. I have been going to Legal for nearly forty years, and cannot believe how bad this experience was at Copley. Did the Berkowitz family sell the company or did Roger put his brother back in charge? There must be a logical explanation other than a tough night for my waitress because other people at the convention who went to the restaurant last night were also surprised at the food quality when we got together for drinks afterwards at the hotel.
Nice atmosphere for catching up with old friends for a birthday. Service was good and unobtrusive. Special attention was given to the birthday girl. She got a free dessert and a free chowder to take home. The food was delicious and came to the table hot. We will definitely celebrate the next birthday there.
Food was beautifully presented. I had the salmon over spinach with mushroom ravioli. Very, very good. My husband had the chipinio. He loved it! Said it was the best meal he's had while in Boston. The only bothersome thing was I felt like the waitress was trying to rush us. We were in no hurry, wanted to enjoy a cocktail before ordering. Otherwise, truly enjoyed our meals and would highly recommend eating here.
Because of a conference downtown, I ate at this restaurant three times in three days and I loved each meal. The service is excellent, the food is fresh and delicious, the atmosphere is very pleasant for either getting together with friends or, as in my case, a business meal. I would happily eat their daily!
