Pretty sure a friend got good poisoning from the clams
I met a friend who was in Boston for a conference this past Saturday. Because it was St. Patrick's Day I was hesitant to book any restaurant in the city but I felt it would be less crowded if we stayed in the Copley area.
Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She was new to the area and was eager to talk about the local scene. She was somewhat knowledgeable about wine recommendations and she picked out a very nice Calif. chardonnay (which we had 2 bottles)! We had one of the Cod specials with pasta which was delicious & a very generous serving. I must also add that when booking the reservation I requested a table in a quiet area. We were very pleased to be away from the crowds and had a great visit of 4 hours catching up!
There are very few places take groups. This worked out great. We had a semi private room and I did not even request it, what a nice surprise. Food came out quickly. we had a great time.
The food was fresh and well prepared.
Outstanding food and service to match! Very accomodating to food allergies- even allowing my wife to have GF popcorn shrimp - and offering to bring her GF rolls. My wife didn’t feel like she was eating sub-par food.
On top of the food, I was delighted at the level of service given that it’s a chain. We couldn’t have been happier!
The view from this restaurant was amazing this snowy evening. The atmosphere was quiet. Service was rapid and friendly. The menu offers wide opportunities for fish and sead food lovers. Quality is guaranteed. Prices are reasonable.
Ordered fried scallops.... delicious. Martinis were perfect. Excellent service.
As usual, our meals were very good as was the service. The location is very convenient in the Back Bay. The fish is always very tasty and reliable and certain to please most people. I would never hesitate to recommend Legal.
Perfect place for a good meal that is convenient to the Hynes convention center
We had a great time, food was good, service was impeccable! Highly recommended .
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at Legal seafoods Copley. The food and service were both excellent. We even met the manager Kelly who made sure our meal was perfect. We can’t wait to go back!
We sat in a small booth for two which felt a little cramped. If there was a place to hang up our coats, that would have helped. The waitress was attentive and food very good. New England clam chowder is always delicious. The chef’s choice grilled fish assortment was a very generous portion with fresh scallops, salmon, swordfish, tuna and shrimp. It was very good. Great place to go pre theatre as we were finished well within 1 hour.
It was atypical of our Legal Seafood dining experiences. We were celebrating a birthday at 2:30pm - a slow time for the dining room. Our server really wasn’t up to the level we were used to. Long gaps of time between tending to the table, randomly showed up to the table with one piece of cake with a candle and 6 plates and forks. Never asked if anyone wanted additional desserts or coffee. Disappeared. Finally came to process the bill. Just very disconnected. Thank goodness for the company of our guests.
I've never been disappointed by a meal at Legal Sea Foods in over 30 years. And never bored. There are a couple of things retired from the menu that I truly miss, but they continue to introduce new dishes that please the palate. My wife had the rice bowl with tuna "sashimi", and it was outstanding.
I didn’t realize that this restaurant was a part of the mall but the food was worthy of mall food. The food was horrible, salmon was over cooked, steak was order at medium and it came well done plus, and the calamari was over done. To top the night off the service was so slow. I can not recommend this restaurant at all, it is a bad example of seafood in Boston.
Staff was extremely friendly, manager was attentive to all guests. My favorite place for fresh seafood
I went here with colleagues who had had good experiences before. The chowder was nice but the fishcakes were bland and the side salad minimal and oily. Disappointing.
If you have food allergies, this is a great place to go
Delicious meals - crab cake/ grilled fish/ Cajun shrimp- all excellent
Went on a date, wasn’t a huge fan of the ambiance and decor. The service was a bit slow. The food was good, but I expected more from Legal Seafood.
Ordered littlenecks.. took forever to get them and service was okay .. had to ask for bread. Every other legals brings bread right away and never have to wait so long for an appetizer. Not impressed at all.
Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. I especially liked the crab cake and salad entree, which was delicious and full of flavor. Blackened salmon taco and salmon burger were also big hits. The service was excellent; our server was friendly and attentive to our needs.
Food was excellent — as always. The menu changes periodically, but the quality level stays high.
Uninspired seafood with unoriginal side dishes. Not a fine dining experience although paid as much. Boiled lobster well, that's about it.
crispy calamar was not crispy, in fact swimming in oil! grilled salmon was not better than ok. i ll not come again. other legal restaurants i ve tried , are better than this i think
We had been to the Copley Legal several years ago and decided not to go back because it was mediocre. Over the holidays we met relatives there who had particular dietary needs. It was wonderful - the food was terrific (well cooked, hot, adapted to the needs of our family member), service was good, we were seated at our reservation time, etc. So last weekend we decided to go back with friends. It was back to its old mediocre food again (overcooked, oily vegetables, etc)! It was eatable, but not good - certainly not the quality we would expect from Legal Seafood. We were very disappointed, will not go back again and will not recommend it to others.
We were out in Boston for my birthday, and I've always loved legal, but tonight was bad all around. No one came to our table for almost 20 minutes when we first sat down, I don't think any one knew who was supposed to take care of us. So no one brought water, greeted us, etc. we had 3 small, hungry children and normally we go to legal for good food quickly, it didn't feel like that tonight. Also, because of the abnormally warm weather the table/restaurant was uncomfortably warm. My baby was so hot his cheeks were bright red and he was sitting in his tank top onesie. I spent the entire dinner walking him to the front of the restaurant where it was cooler. When we asked someone about the heat, they offered to move us, but we had two kids, three adults and already had our food- that was way too much work. We just wanted to get out at that point. Just a tip for next time- if it's hot in the restaurant turn on the AC even if it is February.
Great food. Service was a little slow though . The food is amazing and the portions are large.
Great service! We had a large group and they were very accommodating.
If you've been to any of Legals newer locations and enjoyed them then I wouldn't suggest going to Copley. Stuck in time -not only the decor but also with their food. Mostly fried and not what I have come to expect at all for Legals. Very disappointing.
I was skeptical of the location of this restaurant as it was i a mall. However, I found the interior to be intimate and relaxed. Our server was extremely helpful and attentive. The food was great! Lobsters were perfectly steamed and the chowder was fantastic.
Excellent food. Tasteful seafood and a comfortable place to enjoy it. A must visit in Boston for real seafood!!
Visiting Boston from AZ, we wanted fresh seafood. The lobster we ordered & received was very rubbery. Advised our server but she was uninterested. Thank clams had a “tail” on them that I had never seen before. Very unappetizing to see.
My husband had broiled Haddock which was dry and tasteless. I had grilled Mah Mahi which was dry and tasteless. We were very disappointed in the whole meal.
Cousin in Boston for work and wanted to experience true Boston seafood. Waitstaff was very accommodating. Great food, service made for great visit.
Very mediocre. Not as good as I Remember it from years ago. I wouldn’t go again. Too many other good places to go.
Excellent food and service, as always. We are never disappointed.
They have moved into a slightly hard-to-find corner of Copley Square Mall from the Prudential Center where they were more central. I have been eating in one of their branches since the original opened in Inman Square. Legal offers reliable, good seafood. Not quite totally cheap and cheerful, but certainly cheerful.
We had a nice meal at Legal Seafoods, service was good and the food was excellent. Only complaint was the decor, very dated and it was very bright in the room. We would go back.
I always enjoy my dining experience at Legal’s Seafood. I appreciate the consistency.
