Server and staff were really attentive and professional. The food was average, to say the least. Prices are too high for average food.
Probably won’t go back to another Legal Sea Foods.
Great food as always!
Probably the worst $400 dining experience I’ve ever had.
Still great after all these years. Wonderful chowder, excellent oysters, terrific service.
EXCELLENT , FRIENDLY SERVICE . Food excellent. Decor is tired.
Celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary at Legal Seafoods last night. Dissapointed that I noted it was a special occasion (via the OpenTable) app and nothing was ever mentioned by our waiter or other staff. First waiter stopped by to drop off water and bread then never came back to take our order, after 10 minutes we were able to catch the eye of another waiter who promptly took care of us. My wife ordered the scallops which were very flavorful, however the yellowfin tuna I ordered was just ok, not a ton of flavor which was disappointing. Second waiter was wonderful and gave great service. This was the 2nd time we have eaten at Legal Seafoods so was hoping for a great experience and it was just ok.
Visiting Boston from Oklahoma for a conference. Made our reservation in a flash on Open Table! We arrived earlier than expected and they were able to seat us right away. Good food and great service by Lukas!
Our waiter left to get us some bread and we didn't see him again until after our entrees had been served. The ambiance would have been much better if there had not been a diner who was coughing, sneezing and loudly blowing his nose throughout our dinner.
Had a great experience at the Legal Seafoods Harborside the week prior. Overall I was disappointed by the Copley Place location.
Service and food were excellent! I’m from California and I was looking forward to eating here for the second time. Crab cakes did not disappoint. I will definitely be returning the next time I’m in Boston.
Very disappointed in my meal here this time . Got the crab cake seafood combo. Shrimp and scallops were cold and rubbery, clearly over cooked. Crab cake was good. My friend got swordfish which was good. Overall I won't be back. Too many better options in Boston.
Had the Seared scallops with chorizo & sweet corn succotash. I liked this side much better than the typical herbed rice pilaf. It complimented the scallop better.
Overall, the food was great, and so was our server, Morgan. She represented you well!
We’ll definitely be back
Great fresh seafood. Authentic New England recipes. Excellent service.
Great service. Food was fabulous. Enormous Shrimp Cocktail. Delicious swordfish
We've been to different Legal Seafood Restaurants in the past, but this was our first time at Copley Square. We love the chain, so we went out of our way to go there. We were seated but nobody came to our table for our drink order until almost 15 minutes later. It was another 15 minutes before my wife got her wine, and only after reminding the waiter. It took 30 minutes to get our bread. Other guests that were seated after us were getting served before us. My son got the filet mignon, which I had a piece of. It was very dry, and surpisingly had little flavor. The waiter later asked my wife if she wanted more wine, which she did. He never brought it to her, but added it to the bill, which I had to have him remove. I had the swordfish, and my wife had the crab combo. Both of our meals were good, and comparable to what we've experienced in the past. I understand the restaurant business is suffering right now with a lack of workers. We expect that service is going to be slower, and are fine with that. However, it's been a long time since we've had service this bad, and a waiter that was so indifferent to an obviously poor experience. We threw away $200, and left wishing we had just gotten some fenway franks at the Red Sox game.
The service overall great and enjoyable. However, the food really need to improve in someway, it’s understandable it’s stuffing and large in size, but the favor itself is totally off, steak was over cooked, the Bake Lobster was not tasting like lobster(too much cheese and overcooked) end up tasting like a fast food restaurant.
Dinner for 4, seated quickly with reservations. Service was attentive and friendly. Food came out quickly with appetizers. Overall, experience was very good and I would go back for a casual seafood dinner or lunch.
Fabulous meal! We had two allergies and staff did a great job! Gluten free calamari and lobster roll we both amazing! My son had gluten free chicken tenders which he loved. Thank you! Job well done!
If you're in the mall, not a bad place. Clam chowder was great. Fish and chips were disappointing - fish was dry and fries were chunky and soft in the center.
Food was absolutely delicious, restaurant ambiance was just okay, looks a little dated, and could use a facelift overall. Our waiter was a great young man, and was provided 5 star service.
Legal Seafood never fails to deliver an excellent dining experience. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was fresh and delicious!
We have been regulars at Legal's for decades. All remains good except the clam chowder the last few times has not been as good as in the past. It is just not the same. Service was excellent.
The food (NE clam chowder, fried scallops, fried clams...) excellent. Very attentive service. However the ambiance, furniture... more appropriate for a highway restaurant.
We were very disappointed in the food. The shrimp was tough and the crab cakes were mostly breading. Our dish didn’t have everything listed on the menu when we were served. Over $100 for my husband and I and it was not good at all.
Lobster roll super dry, cold and expensive! Clam chowder was really good though at least. Would not recommend this location.
The food at Legal Seafoods is alway top notch. However, the service was poor. Our server really didn’t seem to care that we had empty glasses of water and that when my meal came and I asked for another beer he didn’t feel it was necessary to bring me the beer until after I ate my entire meal, which was about 20 minutes after I had made the request. Great food but poor service.
Service was atrocious, fish was over cooked, waited over an hour for food. “Illegal Seafood” is more appropriate
Food was over priced not very tasteful and service was super slow
Food was excellent. Wait staff seemed distracted and I had to remind them several times about drink orders.
Tasty food, we had a wonderful server. Hope to be back soon!
Nice place nice service great food
We had a 615 reservation- we arrived early and asked if we could be seated. The host said “ well we are expecting you at 615 I have to see if I have staff to take care of you” the restaurant was VERY QUIET AND MULTIPLE TABLES OPEN. Then the host carried some of our food out- asked who had the lobster mac and cheese my brother and I both said himself and my daughter- he then rolled his eyes s and said “well if I had more hands I could of brought them both out- geez have patience” SO RUDE
WILL NEVER RETURN. I understand you are short staffed but everyone still needs to be nice. Especially when paying a $400 tab. Our waiter was great. I would fire the host
This is our umpteenth time eating at Legal Seafoods. But our first since covid outbreak ! We were over the moon to be back and as per usual both the food & service were A++. We ate at the Copley place location - would have preferred Seaport or Harborside but couldn’t get a reservation at either. This the ONLY downside of LS....that those 2 locations are next to impossible to get a reservation same day....we are only ever in Boston to travel, and as a family we find it hard to plan too far ahead so that we can have some spontaneity in our vacation. But at least we could easily get a reso at Copley place. We LOVE the tuna tataki and crab cakes. Those are our staples but we love it all !!
A bit dingy and dark, very tourist-oriented. Service was poor but expected given July 2021 labor market and it was sunday. Food was decent.
Reunion yay yay yay
Our waiter was terrible. We watched him be attentive to other patrons while we were left waiting and having to flag him down when we needed him. The food runner was excellent! If it weren't for him our food would've gotten cold because we needed new plates and our waiter did not check in on us. It's bad when you wish another table's server was your server.
The dinner was terrible! I’ve been to multiple Legal Seafoods pre-pandemic and they were good. The crab cakes tasted like they got dropped out of a freezer and burned in a fryer. All of the seafood was frozen and dry. The waitress we had was super nice but service overall was slow and sloppy. It’s like an exorbitantly expensive Applebee’s. Don’t go.
We dined at Legal Seafood 2 evenings in a row.....from the receptionist through to dessert everything was deliciously lovely. Great Tattinger Brut and IPA Harpoon on draft, yummy clam chowder....the best haddock anywhere, loved the yukon smashed and grilled asparagus as well.....topped it off with the ice cream bon bons.....only regret that we've left the area and can't go back tonight ! Can't forget the rolls....crusty round scrumptiousness. Professional staff, superlative service with a smile.....Can't wait to go back.
Excellent gluten free options!!! Our waiter was fantastic.
We wanted to sample the city's best seafood but most of the Legal Sea Food outlets were sold out all weekend. Then we found this one in the Copley Place shopping mall that had some openings. It's tucked upstairs between the Coach handbags and the J.Crew sweaters, which could be a little off-putting to serious foodies. But the food is great, and the view is wonderful. But instead of paying the hefty parking fees in the mall or circling the blocks searching for spaces open to non-residents, seriously think about walking here or taking the T to Back Bay.
