Legal Sea Foods - Copley Place
We know shopping induces hunger. Our restaurant is located on the upper level of Copley Place, with direct indoor access to both the Westin and Marriott hotels as well as to the Prudential Center. Panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows overlook Boston’s historic South End.
We’ve received a boatload of accolades including “#1 Best Seafood Restaurant” (USA Today, 2013), “Most Popular Boston Restaurant” (Zagat, 2012/2013), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Improper Bostonian, 2010), “Best Chowder” (Boston Magazine, 2010) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.
I like Legal. But this location has the ambiance of a Red Lobster(none). At the high prices you would expect more. Would not come back. If you're paying these prices go to the waterfront location
Food was awesome and service was excellent!
The bathrooms were dirty.
Our server was fabulous!
This was Valentines Day, but we come to this Legal quite often during the year.
The baked stuffed lobster is the best in the city. This is 1 of only 3 Legals in Boston that still uses the original stuffing recipe. Love the smashed potatoes & the special carrots.
Atmosphere is OK; Management staff is outstanding; wait staff is good. Should give a rose/muni-gift to all women on Valentines Day.
The wait staff especially Gina was great. She helped with the lobster /)
We have been Legal patrons for years. This is our first disappointing meal at any of their venues. Living in NE for most of our lives we spent many happy times with family and friends in Burlington and Boston venues. We relocated to the Carolinas 5 years ago. Our travels take us to DC and back to NE a few times a year and we always visit Legal. Today we travelled from Charlotte to Boston. The day began at 5:30 AM. We deferred lunch until 1:30 PM when we could get to Legal, craving the usual high quality delicious food we expect. Unfortunately the host and hostess were more interested in their banter than ensuring our server came over in a timely manner on this quiet Sunday. The server delivered the food and did not check back until we were almost finished. The baked cod was dry and overcooked, no buttery cracker taste. Roasted squash seemed left over from the day before. Crab cakes lacked the usual lump crabmeat. When the server finally returned we conveyed our disappointment. The manager came over and offered something else and some excuses about training. If there is a new cook, their output should be checked until they are trained. The entre was removed from the bill. This did little to resolve our disappointment. In general the staff seemed oblivious to their mission in being there. This is so unlike Legal! Now the dilemma is do we take another chance when we vis
Had the classic jasmine rice dish with brown rice. On the menu for over 20 years this classic has endured. Excellent and generously sized. Highly recommended. Seating and server were great.
My swordfish had the consistency of mush. I should have sent it back
Good, attentive and good meal
We enjoyed our meal here two night’s in a row. Great staff, manager made sure we were happy and everything was good. We will be back.
we are white cardholders.
amazed at the terrible service at this location.
waitress was inept. poured water over my fur coat on another chair... did not spill it in it but accidents do happen. one should be taught not to do this.
never brought bread. husband asked another server for it. water glasses never refilled. my fish was overcooked and dry. cauliflower hard as a rock. and cold. terrible. husbands fish still swimming, very undercooked. sent back. place needs a facelift and some new servers. very disappointed.
Highly recommend the mussels!!
Meager side choice selection, not enough variety of sides for the price one pays. They didn’t even have wild-caught salmon which is very strange for a fish restaurant and in Boston. Would not recommend coming here again. Not healthy food at all.
The food was smelling and absolutely HORRIBLE!!! We have been there plenty of time before but this time it was an absolute waste! The server was very busy doing other things and I had to physically walk up to her in the middle of my meal and ask for things.
Never going back again!!!
We had an exceptional waitress- Stephanie Gray. Couldn't have been nicer answering our questions and accommodating our requests.
Great good & great service.
Disappointing - the drink was not great and the food was not up to Legal's standards.
Consistent and good as it always is. A Boston tradition.
PLEASANT RESTAURANT WITH CONSISTENT HIGH QUALITY SEAFOOD WITH GOOD VALUE.
We were underwhelmed with our experience at Legal Seafood. We have been numerous times and this did not live up to expectations. The waitress confused the menu with her other job, we never received dinner rolls and the food was just subpar.
They had great food at this location but it felt like we were eating at a Denny’s. I’d go to their restaurants again but would try another location.
New year’s eve
Busy place. Ordered the Salmon with lemon&butter. Was not impressed. It lacked flavor. Comes with rice as a side - which wasn’t perfectly cooked - still a bit crunchy. Otherwise the Salmon was definitely fresh and perfectly grilled - just the seasoning issue :(
Very average at best. We were fans of Legal but this is last time we will dine there. While the service was attentive, the fried clams were more fry than clams, the polenta with the arctic char was ice cold, char had no taste, nutty salmon more interesting in name than the actually fish. What happened to you, Legal? We generally felt that the meal was high priced with little thought to the plate appeal or the taste of the items served. Most disappointing for a meal that cost close to $100. We give high marks on the warm rolls.
Best GF experience in a restaurant in 4yrs!
Very nice place for lunch with family from out of town. Reliably delicious food, attentive service and nice relaxing ambiance.
This is a very different
The worst value in seafood dining on the east coast. Decor looks like a hospital cafeteria. Plating presentation could be done better by children. Totally overpriced for the quality. This restaurant chain has jumped the shark!
We go to Legal Seafoods whenever we are in Boston. The new menu is not an improvement, but many of the old standard remain. Was looking forward to the Salmon burger. Didn't want the new tuna burger. Went for the smoke salmon app that was very good. Missed the white sangria too, really loved the white sangria recipe from a couple years ago. Our server was great though.
Good food and environment. A little hard to find in the mall.
Amazing place! Great seafood, great service, great experience
Food was terrible, fish undercooked, butternut squash full of strings, no flavor, no interest in going back. what happened to the legal seafoods I knew? gone
The consistent excellence of this restaurant never ceases to amaze me. We come here frequently, and the food is tops, the service is first rate, and even the view from a table at the window great fun. We have never been disappointed here
Pleasant experience, great service! We appreciate how you managed a party of 10!
Legal Seafoods is not what it used to be! We were so disappointed in the quality of the food. The menu is generic and mostly unhealthy now. Quality on par with a Ruby Tuesdays.
We have been to this restaurant many times, so we were disappointed. The Nutty Salmon was over cooked even though I asked for more medium rare. The lobster casserole was very over cooked. Boston cream pie was great.
This location is in need of a makeover. However, the food is consistent and the service is good.
Located on the second floor of Copley Place it is convenient while shopping.
