I used to have an office in Boston so I was really looking forward to visiting Legal Seafood in my home town of Chicago. We had two very different experiences. We sat in the bar while they were getting our table on the balcony ready. The happy hour was terrific and our server went out of his way to make sure our needs were met. If our experience ended there it would have earned 5 stars. When we went out to the deck overlooking the river our server gave off a vibe that he couldn’t care less if we were happy or not. He was less than engaging, I had to ask him twice to wipe down our table, he didn’t engage with us about recommendations for finishing our fish entrees, we had put on our reservation that it was our 48th wedding anniversary which he knew nothing about. He was totally disinterested. Unfortunately the poor service experience over shadowed the quality of the food.

Was seated by the hostess and never had a server come by so after 15 minutes we left. During that time many servers had enough time to go stand and talk with the hostess. Just seems like they didn’t want to work. This chain restaurant will need to do better to survive in Chicago. Do yourself a favor and go to RPM Seafood instead.

Poor service. Said they didn’t have any rice so we could not get a sushi roll. Asked twice for our soup. It finally came and then the meal Came about 3 min later.

The place looks nice and the river view was the best part. The drinks were ok. The food was bland and not what I was expecting. Out of all the items we tried, we liked the sushi and the calamari.

The food was good, except my spouse didn't like the flavor on her fish. The ambiance on the patio was almost perfect, however, they hung a large banner from the railing that blocked a lot of the view of the river. If they hung it about 6-12 inches lower, it would have not been an issue. Such an easy fix for a major improvement.

It took about 15 mins for a water to come up and ask for drink order or even water....I asked the Manager to take away a plate please, he said ok, then couple mins later sent some to grab it, most managers would have just grabbed it right away.....def should not be in management!

I would definitely recommend going. The food and drinks were amazing. However, although the restaurant wasn’t crowded, we walked 20 before someone came to service us. This was AFTER I asked for a manager. THEN our waiter acted as of we were bothering him. No smiles and very low energy. I must shout out a waiter that wasn’t our waiter. HE WAS FANTASTIC! All I know is that he has a snake tattooed on his ear. I would definitely go back. I just hope the service is better

The ambiance on the terrace was outstanding; with tables above the Chicago River. We had salmon and the fried seafood platter both were delicious. Our server Yulia did a great job in making our dinner special. The next time we're in Chicago we will dine here again.

The view of the river and people watching is wonderful! The prices are VERY reasonable, coming with 2 sides, but the food was just average. The clam chowder had very little flavor. I had the rainbow trout with blackened seasoning and hot butter. It was dry so I asked for the lemon butter with capers. My sides were the street corn Which was quite tasty. And mashed potatoes which were dry and very thick. Our server, Nash, was new hut personable and made it a fun experience.
