We can always count on Legal for delicious, fresh fish. Service was not particularly gracious.
Never disappointed with the food. The service is always good too.
The atmosphere was good. the food was very good as well. It was prepared well. The staff was very nice and welcoming. The restaurant was very accommodating, because I could confirm how many people were going to show up for the dinner. They still seated us with extra chairs just in case.
More and more expensive each time, but food still excellent !
The server was outstanding! The food was excellent! Legal is consistent in their excellent preparation you can always count on them. The menu has a wide variety of seafood and fish dishes which they specialize in.
We've been customers a long time. We note that in general the prices are going up and the quality is diminishing , sadly. The servicche (12.99) wasn't tasty although it was pretty. The salad was mostly lettuce, although the salmon topper was well prepared and good. (to worth 20.00 lunch price) The baked potato looked like last week's product. The waitstaff was dour and reminded us of the Durgin Park's ambience. For four, lunch was 176..the ambiance/quality was disappointing. Sorry not to be more enthusiastic, but you asked. The last Legal we went to forgot to brin on e of the four meals. It was good finally when the manager brought it to our guest, but he ate alone as we'd already long finished. On the positive side, the chowder was excellent . It pains me to write this as we've always counted on excellence at Legals and often give gift cards for occasions . Sorry..last two times were disappointing.
Food is generally reliable and high quality, although my broccoli was close to raw and served in a ridiculously large quantity
Service was especially poor- maitre d told me that my friend had not arrived and told her the same so we waited for each other 15 minutes, server slung the food at us, slopped the coffee etc. Not a fine dining experience but OK for a place to meet and have lunch
We went for my adult daughter's birthday. It was later in the evening in the middle of the week. The restaurant seemed "tired" and service/atmosphere was lacking. The food was good, not great although serving sizes were larger than typical fish servings. All in all, nothing special and the atmosphere was rather depressing.
Our server Valentina was excellent - friendly, personable and attentive
We had a lovely luncheon at Legal Seafood in Chestnut Hill celebrating a Special Occasion. I had requested a particular table and my table request was honored and being set up as we arrived. The staff were all gracious and accommodating - the food was delicious and the atmosphere pleasant. Our waitress was perfect -efficient and attentive but not intrusive. This not the first time we have chosen Legal in Chestnut Hill to celebrate family occasions. We have never been disappointed. I was completely delighted with our luncheon experience and would highly recommend Legal Seafood in Chestnut Hill.
We waited for a long time to get our waitress’ attention to put our order in, and then a long time to get salad and soup for the grandparents. When inquired about the status of our order, the waitress was very impatient and condescending, while being very nice and patient with the table next to us. It’s truly a disappointing experience, as we have had both family and business gatherings at the restaurant very frequently.
Legal Seafood in Chestnut Hill has always been a solid choice for me for dining with special people. The food is always good and the service is generally quite good as well.
Our waiter, Will, couldn't have been better. We had a special needs child with us as part of our party of 8, and he was most accommodating. The service was outstanding and everyone felt that way. He even made recommendations for my out of town guests that they followed and enjoyed. The food is standard Legal -- nothing too creative but always fresh and reliable, particularly for those who like fish. No complaints.
Bar service was awesome. We ended up staying at the bar because they where so attentive. Food was excellent . Great job...
No butter or sauce came with the grilled assortment, no dipping sauce came with the spicy calamari, the martini was just ok and we were brought the wrong (non alcoholic) drinks twice. I spent over $200 and 3 of us were disappointed with our food.
We were having dinner on a Tuesday nite. It wasn’t too busy. The Anna baked cod was dry. They didn’t have the bottle of wine we wanted to order. Only had half bottle. This legals seemed to have gone down in quality. I️ think they are focusing more on the other new locations that are opening and maybe not focusing on the existing locations. I️ was disappointed. The manager did come by to the table to ask how everything was, but I️ didn’t want to say anything as he may think we were complaining to get a free meal. Which was not the case.
Ah-MAZ-ing! Thank you Legals for offering delicious gluten free good! I don’t remember the last time I was able to eat every course at a yummy restaurant. The food was top notch and the service knowledgeable and sweet. Thank you!
Consistently good quality.
It's Legal so it's nice. The place could stand to be 'freshened' up - furniture and fixtures (in particular the bathroom) needs to be updated
The food has become tired as well as staff. Food was returned many times due to it being burnt or completely mush. Husbands food I think was lobster but all you could taste was the sherri it was bathed in. Truly abysmal
Wonderful Saturday night dinner; great food (nice specials) and excellent service.
Food is passable but not exciting. Seafood is fresh but routinely came out of kitchen lukewarm.
Kids menu can use a refresh - half-cooked hot dog for one kid and Kraft Mac and cheese for another.
Dining room also ripe for a redo.
Overpriced for what it is.
Reservation not honored, host not polite. Decided to leave and eat dinner next door.
I ordered Kung pao shrimp and veg. It's really good, even better than those in Chinese restaurant. The portion was huge. Highly recommended!!
my favorite restaurant. food was great from beginning to end. and the drinks were legitimate. we always go there for special occasions
Service was slow. Appetizers did not come at the same time. One person in our party got her appetizer when the others had already finished. Also, 2 if the meals were not up to standard. The seafood casserole was too much bread crumbs and not enough seafood. The rice bowl with shrimp/broccoli/cheese had a ton of rice and 4 shrimp.
Wonderful Saturday night get together with great food and excellent service.
Food is always excellent. I ate at Chestnut and and Harborside this week. Can't wait for the new restaurant to open--tired of the old blue lights.
Consistent and quality always. Service was good. Nice restaurant lay out gives table enough room so you are not on top of another.
Amazing food amazing time with my precious girlfriend! I got to have my friend/college classmate Gina Hopkins as my server, one of the respected amazing humans on earth. She’s a gem wicked smart very talented and unique human, it goes with out saying, she’s one of the best assets.
Never disappoints, but never “wows” me either. Servers at times give the impression that they’re simply going through the motions. Our server was attentive, but not overly personable. Food came out quickly. Food was fine. To me, people frequent Legal Sea Foods because it’s a Boston legacy. I think there are better options out there (not necessarily around Chestnut Hill), but I’ve never left Legal’s unhappy with the meal / service.
Legal Seafoods is one of our favorite lunch spots, starting with the fresh baked rolls. The fish is always fresh and delicious.
Great tasting and fresh seafood! Plus, great customer service!
Food excellent as always, service slightly lacking
It was my birthday and my husband wanted to take me to Harborside but I didn't feel going all the way to the Seaport district. Then we decided to go Legal seafood in chestnut hill at the street. It was an excellent dinner including the atmosphere, the food. I have enjoyed every bit of it. The food was delicious. Our server which I don't remember his name was excellent and he was very friendly, courteous, kind and he did a marvelous job
Went for grandpa's 80th birthday because Legal Seafood has always been his favorite. Their seafood is reliably good, nicely prepared. They are a Boston tradition for a reason. Service was excellent.
I put on the Open Table reservation that we were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and my husband's birthday. They seated us at a quiet table by the window. Our server was incredible making sure that we had everything we needed to enjoy the evening. The food was delicious as always and served piping hot. Everyone checked on us to see if we needed anything. When it came time for dessert, we ordered the chocolate layer cake which was brought out drizzled with chocolate syrup and two candles. Our server even offered to take our photo. Five stars and two thumbs up!
