Legal Sea Foods - Chestnut Hill
A Birthday lunch between old friends! The food was great and we had a good time.
Meh. Legal has lost its touch. It’s too bad. I was once a big fan. It’s gone corporate and nothing is special about it anymore. Just mediocre commercial food.
Very good food, a bit overpriced, but a special place anyway. Super service! Very friendly and timely.
Over all, a satisfying experience. Plusses include excellent steamers and well-prepared Ana-Cod. Excellent rainbow trout (although a bit salty). Service was a bit choppy, with uneven spacing between courses. On the other hand, dinner for 2, with only one glass of Merlot for my companion came to $115 (excluding tip).
Highly recommended if you're part of the '1%' or on Expense Account.
You can always count on Legal Sea Foods to provide quality meals. The blackened swordfish is usually my go to meal and I have never been disappointed. The clam chowder to me is the best chowder in the country, it is the benchmark for all other clam chowders where ever I travel. The Chestnut Hill location is a very spacious, comfortable location, the staff was friendly and upbeat.
We had a nice time celebrating grandma 74th Bday..
This place is perfection for fine seafood restaurant in the Boston area. The menu is creative, fluid and mindful of the needs of all diners. Love, love this place.
Great food, great staff, management is visible on the floor and engaging with guests. Keep up the great work!
it was superb! food is always excellent...service attentive without hovering...I recommend this place for any occasion.
Scheduled a reunion with friends at the restaurant. Reservation was on time. Also we never felt rushed and enjoyed a couple of hours of conversation. Service was excellent
We’ve made it a point to eat at Legal Sea Foods whenever we visit Boston. The restaurant at Chestnut Hill has become our favorite since first dining there last year.
The food and service at all Legal Sea Foods is always superb; professional...and we’ve dined at many of them.
We just happen to like Chestnut Hill eatery the best now because of its location and layout.
The dining experience is always superb. One can expect the same at any and all Legal Sea Foods.
People are very charming and comprehensive although my booking when for thursday 13 instead of my request was really for the 14 the wait was just a couple minutes
Artic Char is the best I ever had at Legal
fried haddock was just delicious, as was the garden salad. And our server was excellent, too. Somehow he knew that it was my birthday and brought us two ice cream puffs with a candle. Lovely1. (Old Fashioned was good, too10
Very disappointing. Waited well past the time for our reservation. The staff at the hostess were more interested in talking with each other than working. Once seated waited a very long time for service. The place is very over rated
Legal represents the best and sea food in the Boston area
The waitress was very friendly and listened to the particular way we wanted food done. Very happy!
The restaurant was packed, felt overcrowded but our waiter was very sweet and attentive.
Hostess staff, waitress and ambience all very good. Food was very disappointing. Shrimp and crab quiche had no crab and was tasteless and over cooked. Gumbo had no flavor and tasted like it had been cooked a week earlier. Clam chowder very good as always. Thai spiced calamari were ok as Was the cauliflower appetizer.
Excellent food . Excellent server . Best Cippino ever . Had not been to Legal , Chestnut Hill for several years . Can’t wait to return .
I'll put the negative first, because overall it's a great place.
We sat in a booth in the Lounge/Bar section of the restaurant. Our booth was right near the entrance and, as the evening wore on, people waiting for seats at the bar began to congregate right next to our table. They were also talking loudly and seriously degraded the dining experience. By this time, we were finishing our meal so we decided to bring this to the attention of the Manager on our way out.
Her name was Ashley, and she in effect said she couldn't---or wouldn't---do a thing about it, such as having people wait outside the entrance to that section. A pretty helpless or hapless manager.
Otherwise, the food was great. And of course the wine list the best around, and the most value anywhere. The service was great. Don't not go because of this review; the situation described above is an anomaly at Legal. I have never encountered it in 30 years of going to at least 5 Legal restaurants throughout Greater Boston.
The food at Legals is always fresh and delicious. The new setting is relaxing and really nice.
Broccoli badly undercooked - needed a steak knife to cut it.
On the other hand, baked stuff shrimp was overcooked, tough, and the topping was almost burned. Don't know if it sat under the heat lamp too long.
Swordfish was fine but for the price there was not much of it.
You should expand your bar options. And allow Parton martinis
Although this place has been our family restaurant go-to, the service this time was so much worse than usual. The server forgot both special requests and was very slow. In addition, the fish and chips, usually so fantastic, was made out of thin, tough fish. It was literally hard to cut and chew. What a disappointment.
We had a party of six, and I forgot to request a table in the back. Instead, we got a table in the bar, which can be frenetic. But the noise level was not bad, and I got to reconnect with a waiter from the Natick Legal's. He was great, the food was great, and the drinks were great. What can I say, other than Legal's is one of the most dependable, consistently delicious, and well staffed restaurant chains in Boston. If you're a scallop fan, order the scallops grilled with Cajun spices. And we always get the Thai style calamari appetizer. One appetizer is enough for four people. Two of our party ordered the Caesar salad with shrimp, and raved about the dish. Legal's in Chestnut Hill also have a decent wine list, with very nice Chardonnays by the glass. Normally, I don't write restaurant reviews, but Legal's has been so good for so long that I felt an obligation to compliment them. They've been a dining mainstay for 30 years.
It was our son’s 24th Birthday. I didn’t realize the waitress must of overheard us wish him a Happy Birthday, because after we finished eating she brought over 6 Chocolate covered icecream balls with a candle. It was so unexpected that it made the evening perfect.
We met old friends as we do occasionally and had a wonderful time
Legal always satisfies!
I was surprised how good the sushi was. Definitely get it again! Thanks
The food and service were excellent, as usual. The music was a bit too loud and energetic and we found it harder to talk quietly. This is the only reason my review is not a 5 star!
We found the food to be very disappointing especially for the price. Won't go back.
A fire alarm went off so we could not finish our meal.
Appetizers were the best part of the meal. We had cauliflower which was excellent. The mixec drinks all tasted the same. We sent back the Old Fashioned and opted for two others which tasted almost exactly the same. All had an artificial taste so we opted for a beer. All iif the meakks were good. I had the Fisherman's Platter. Thus also was fine. Service was very good .
The only real annoyance was from the black flies that continued to fly around
Great experience, good place to host clients
Legal Seafood never fails for perfect evening with family. It offers choices for the whole family. We do miss the "old" Legal Seafood but the new layout is slowly growing on us.
My wife and I had the shrimp Pad thai which is a winter special - fabulous!!! In fact, we wound up recommending it the table next to us - great dinner!
Why no open table points? It’s a factor in restaurant selection.
Legal is just a never-disappoints restaurant. Top shelf! Thank you!!
Great table great food
