The patio overlooking Hammond Pond is a great place to be with friends for lunch. As always, the food and service are great!
Cuisine and service was very good and up to Legal Seafood standards.
The mussels were tasty but the broth lacked flavor. Sushi was very good as was the Pinot Grigio by the glass. Sat at a nice high top near the bar!
I was underwhelmed by this experience. It was not the Legal Seafoods of Chestnut Hill (or anywhere else) that I have always known and loved. Not sure what is going on here - there appeared to be way too few wait staff, and an uncharacteristically limited menu. Few varieties of actual fish fillet/steaks to have prepared "any way" -- and a consistent message that they were having trouble getting stock from their suppliers from things even like the napkins for a hot water/lemon experience at the end of a lobster meal. A little sad about that - and I found it odd, since there are so may other Legal's locations??? On the bright side, I loved the new space - it was the first time I had been there - and the open-air seating in the bar area near the windows was terrific. Overall - Meh.
House salad arrived after a 35 minute wait with a very small piece of tuna.
This was reported and another portion was presented. The staff were most
helpful and also provided a free desert.
It seems prices have gone up. We had a shrimp entree and the shrimp were overdone. Did not like the lemon sauce. Next time would order mussels which is a Legal favorite of mine.
Service was very slow.
Lovely dinner on outside patio with great server!!
Great food and service!! Would definitely recommend!
Outstanding service and consistently good food continue to characterize this Legal.
It was a beautiful summer evening... finally! Legal in Chestnut Hill has a wonderful outdoor seating area we were hoping to get into since they do not take reservations for outside. Unfortunately they were full, but we were able to be seated in the bar area tables right next to a huge open window. They were busy, so it did take a while to get our server over to take drink orders and then food. But he was a very good server. We went after an email notification of the limited time special that was wonderful. Friends joining us had their standard Anna's Haddock and Shrimp Scampi which they said were very very good.
Everything was good. Great food and wonderful service. Good wine selection and great ambience.
We were disappointed to find that the menu has been drastically edited. Our server was friendly and professional but the other staff that leaned against the wall/window of our booth with their heads peering into our booths talking loudly ruined the ambiance. At times it was difficult to have a conversation over their conversation and it was really awkward having several heads looking into our booth.
Clifton is a gem at the Bar - Cocktails are outstanding. Legals delivers consistent high quality seafood every time. The lounge area is open and breezy and feels very safe during the COVID time that we live in.
This has always been our go to spot (at least once per week), but the service and food has slowly gone down hill, last night was the worse, not sure we will be back to soon.
Great food and service, but even with reservations were placed at table that was kinda in the corner and not a great location. Other than that everything was great.
New ownership- no tablecloths, paper menus, shortage of help, slow bartender, very expensive even though the food was great as was the service. The greeters need to learn how to curl their lips to smile and say”welcome to Legal Sea Food” rather than stare at a computer screen to see to find the reservation and make no eye contact.
Excellent service very courteous The food was perfectly prepared and plenty for your money based on new prices due to pandemic
When I arrived I was immediately seated when I was seated my waiter had a big band aid hanging from his chin his clothes was dirty shirt wasnt tucked in over all appearance was not pleasant at all so I went to the manager and told her my concerns then the waiter came around I noticed his shirt was tucked in so I knew they said something to him but now he has an attitude so they must of told him it was me who said something so now every time im trying to get his attention he keeps telling me to hold on so now im watching him wait on not one party but two more parties that came in after me so I just ended up leaving I went to Legals in Braintree spent 200 dollars and had excellent service tho but for the money yall charge appearance should mean everything and you need some black waiters not just black people as bus boys I also did not appreciate that at all definitely felt some racism going on
We had a great time. Thank you for accommodating us outdoors and then inside once it started raining.
It's not Legal Seafood anymore.
I have been Going to Legal"s forever- not anymore. I've tried but it's not going to happen.
Food was not hot, menu is completely different.
Good for a drink at the bar and maybe an appetizer, but that's it.
Fast food quality. The fish quality and cooking was suboptimal at best. Legal Seafood used to be an extravagance well-worth it. It was just wasted calories, wasted money, and bad choice for dinner - noticeably underwhelming, as was the menu.
Great time. Waiter forgot sugar for one in our party’s coffee - but was overall great. Also Wheelchair friendly and he even served our brought in bakery bday cake-
Good for someone w mobility restrictions- getting around can be thought and we had dinner and our bday cake in one fell swoop.
TIP- for the money, next time will skip the Seafood Platter w raw clams ($75) and will get several dozen littlenecks instead.
Food was excellent (which is what you come for), as the was the service; just the right amount of anticipating needs, without being intrusive. The ambience in the dining room was solidly pleasant although not particularly luxurious or lavish. The cost of the meal has progressively inched upward, so this is not really a great deal, but one does pay for top-quality seafood.
Good service; fairly quiet so we could have a good business meeting.
What is happening to my legal seafood?
The menu has changed…so many favorites are gone
So many New England staples are missing
Some items are renamed so I don’t know that they are what I usually get.
It’s supposed to be COD not haddock
I was told that corp is adjusting to meet trends
The customers dictate trends this is not fashion
The new ownership is steering the ship “iceberg straight ahead!”
It is always incredible. Clam chowder is still the beat ever. Gold standard.
we ate in bar and enjoyed the service and company. Food was great. Bartender exceptional.
Dependable, delicious seafood. Service was somewhat slow as it was very busy
They were not willing to accommodate us with where we wanted to sit and it was empty and the food was horrible. We ordered stuffed shrimp that was overcooked and rubbery and chicken fingers and french fries that were burned to a crisp and dry and couldn't be eaten. How do you go wrong with chicken fingers and french fries? Won't be back!
Friendly and good service. Clean and spacious.
Outdoor seating available.
Fresh and tasty seafood at a really good price.
Firecracker Sushi roll is great: topped w fresh tuna, salmon and avocado.
Several options for salad. Greek salad very good with feta, olives and chickpeas.
Fried calamari is a nice big portion even appetizer size.
Great spot for lunch.
Food was delicious and speedy service. Our server was kinda bouncing around a lot so wasn’t necessarily present when needed but overall good service
The menu was limited. The fish was well prepared but my Caesar salad had some wilted leaves. The time between the arrival of the meal after appetizers was too long. All in all it’s just not what Legal use to be.
Legal is always delicious and reliable. Clifton our server is always terrific!
Fabulous place for business meetings or family gatherings.
The outdoor patio is lovely!
Valentina and the waitstaff provided the best service we could have asked for!
We brought an out of town guest who wanted to try the lobster roll. They did not disappoint and he enjoyed the lobster roll greatly. If it weren't raining the view of the pond would have been wonderful. You can't win 'em all.
Always excellent. Will always visit Legal on all my Boston trips
