Legal Sea Foods - Chestnut Hill
First time at this location. Receptionist was very friendly. My baked potato was hard, fist was very good.
waitress never came back to the table to see if we needed anything else. Overall I liked the lay out of the
Best fish around. Mediocre atmosphere and service.
Have occasionally had them 'overcook'.
The muscles were anything but plump. Small, shriveled and overcooked. The arctic char was dry and tasteless. The sour cream was watery. What's happened to the quality? I'll still go for a delicious lunch salad with grilled shrimp but the ambience at dinner is tired and uninspiring and the food is trending down.
We love the renovated Chestnut Hill Legals. Contemporary decor, a fresh new look! The food is delicious and the seafood is always fresh! Portions are substantial and the menu is varied. Great place to meet friends or celebrate special occasions.
have eaten many times at Legal and Legal C Bar. Got seated right away. Appetizer came quickly - have had at other legals and was not as good but ok. Took a while for main to come and then I had ordered the sashimi tuna meal and it looked like an appetizer portion and it didn't have the rice so i asked and she brought it but it looked sad and the seaweed salad tasted disgusting. For $17+ it was not worth it. I talked to manager to explain how I thought was overpriced for what is served and how I think it's poorly presented and thought they might comp us something - even the coffee we ordered at end of meal, but nothing. Other people have said how overrated it's become and I won't be back.
Food is always consistent- fresh and delicious!! My favorites are Grilled Salmon, Grilled shrimp, Garlic and shrimp and King Crab 👍
Honor reservations always and do not have to wait long to be seated.
Wonderfully fresh seafood just as we always know it will be. The lemon sole is one of my favorites and my husband’s craving for fried clams were totally satisfied.
Everything is very good but noisy and crouded space.
Outstanding service was provided, with helpful suggestions. We enjoy the ascension to this "new" Legal.
Hard to believe but true: the food quality and flavors have improved! The new location has better decor and seats at the window have a view of the lake.
I can only encourage the restaurant to increase the number of hours of training for their servers who are friendly but could be more professional.
Nevertheless, an enjoyable experience for the freshest seafood. Very highly recommended!
Great baked oysters!!
Except when the staff is ready to go home you should be too. We would’ve liked another drink and they clearly wanted to give us the check since we weren’t ordering dessert. Great otherwise
I was very disappointed with my experience this day at this location of legal Sea Food. I’ve been going to legal Sea foods for many years and the consistency of the cut of swordfish that I get is always the same. I had brought a friend with me that was not too high on Legal’s because of some of her experiences in the past. I waved to her it must’ve been a one time thing because I’ve never had an issue with the quality of food at legal Sea foods. This trip the swordfish was thin and not thick. A thinner piece of swordfish tends to be dry when cooked and not as moist as a thicker piece. I had ordered the oyster legals and the oysters were so small you didn’t feel like there was an oyster in it. It felt like you were eating just breadcrumbs and cheese. I was very disappointed with Legal Seafoods this day.
Excellent dinner out with family (birthday celebration). Bill was our server, and he could not have been better!
Staff were quite attentive from the moment we arrived. Our waitress was friendly and made sure we were happy with our dining experience at Legal’s. Two of us had ordered grilled swordfish for our luncheon entree as we had in past visits. We were shocked at how small the portion has become. When the bill arrived we soon learned that what we received was their lunch portion (this is new...as we were only offered the dinner portion at lunch in previous visits). Swordfish was delightful but the calamari was not. Overall we were pleased with our outing to Legal’s in Chestnut Hill
We used to go here all the time. The renovation is beautiful, out waiter was excellent. Unfortunately we weren’t very impressed with our food.
Great Saturday night dinner in a moderately energetic environment (bar area).
great lunch at Legal C Hill. Clam roll the best and shrimp plate also
I went to Legal Seafood with friends. We all enjoyed our entrees. In particular, the Everything Tuna entree was outstanding, perfectly cooked. If you want fresh tuna, Legal Seafoods should be on your radar!
As always, Legal Sea Foods is the reliable choice!
Our server was e. Excellent. She appeared to love what she does. Super friendly, patient, knowledgeable. The kale salad was good but not great. The add-on salmon was cooked perfectly. However my issue were the apples and cheese which were practically non existent.
Service and food were great!
Once again great
Outdoor dining with a water view! Just beautiful! Delicious food!
Still best to request to dine in the quieter private rear dining room. We were disappointed that some of the favorites are no longer available. The seaweed salad had a very unattractive appearance and is no longer the fermented green we have ordered and enjoyed for many years. In addition, the smoked salmon appetizer now is only served with avocado, which though very trendy, is not something we eat, and no alternative could be offered. Other entrees were well received.
My wife and I had a gift card, knowing we'd be close by that night, made a reservation. The waiter was very receptive to us during our stay, the two-star rating is not reflective of him. My wife's small plate arrived at the same time as my entree. When we were done eating - that is, my entree and her small plate - her entree arrived, long after it should have (her plate by the way, was sufficient to be a meal, so it didn't occur to us while we were eating and talking). We were puzzled by this - we had not seen the waiter and thought it wasn't going to arrive, and were fine with it. The waiter came by and explained that she should get the food that she ordered. When he left we debated what to do. She was going to send it back but I guessed they would throw it out. When the waiter came back we asked for an explanation, and he said there was a mixup, which resulted in her not getting her entree when she should have. He offered to wrap it to go, which we gave the thumbs up to (instead of throwing out food).
The check arrived, and for this mixup, we were charged full price for everything, and never heard an apology. We paid the check and my wife was going to take it up with the manager. My wife headed for the front desk on the way out, while I went to the restroom. I met her by the front door. She said the two women at the front desk never paid any attention to her as she approached.
So we were okay with our experience, however, 1) an entree was delivered 15-20 minutes late, 2) we were not given a heads up about this, at which point we surely would have politely declined, 3) this was surely a mistake, and everybody's human, but there was no apology, and nothing was discounted on our check, 4) my wife felt she was ignored when she was trying to get someone's attention (I remembered when I walked by, too, a few minutes after she did - one woman wished me a good night and the other was looking at her phone). We expected better from Legal Seafoods.
Someone should work on designing better salads. Their a bit boring and chopped salads need other items in them like peppers, cukes, tomatoes, walnuts, stuff like that.
Even a simple lunch on a Saturday afternoon is special at Legal! Crab cakes & beer - made for a simple but fun afternoon!
Legal Seafood's always does a really good job on their food, and when we go out to eat, we often go here. My only (minor) complaint is that the menu has not changed in years.... though that has not stopped their brisk business. Perhaps a few more daily " specials" that can show off the chef's creativity? That would be nice! But we will go back nonetheless, as Legal's is an old stand-by.
Nice new space. Food was still good. The problem was we went there for an 80th Birthday dinner and they did nothing to acknowledge other than say happy birthday as we walked in. The waitress did nothing to make my mother feel special on her special day. I eat out a lot and am not used to restaurants not trying at all on a special day.
As usual, Legal never disappoints!
Far superior to Framingham location, food, ambience, presentation and particularly Staff including servers
who do NOT harass you purchase extra food items which we would have ordered if we had wanted them. Have Framingham location take a lesson from chestnut hill
Consistent quality and outstanding fish keeps me coming back
Quality of food has declined.
Birthday for wife. Gave us a dessert. All aang
Enjoyed our luncheon; food was good, service efficient.
Lobster bisque was excellent.
This place is sooooo overrated. Second time there in 3 months. Each time, the service was inattentive, poorly informed ( no knowledge of wines, for instance), and room temperature out of whack. Barely cool on a really hot summer night, then too cool on a cool summer night. Menu is only vaguely interesting. I’d suggest spending one’s money elsewhere.
