Service was slow. Appetizers did not come at the same time. One person in our party got her appetizer when the others had already finished. Also, 2 if the meals were not up to standard. The seafood casserole was too much bread crumbs and not enough seafood. The rice bowl with shrimp/broccoli/cheese had a ton of rice and 4 shrimp.
Wonderful Saturday night get together with great food and excellent service.
Food is always excellent. I ate at Chestnut and and Harborside this week. Can't wait for the new restaurant to open--tired of the old blue lights.
Consistent and quality always. Service was good. Nice restaurant lay out gives table enough room so you are not on top of another.
Amazing food amazing time with my precious girlfriend! I got to have my friend/college classmate Gina Hopkins as my server, one of the respected amazing humans on earth. She’s a gem wicked smart very talented and unique human, it goes with out saying, she’s one of the best assets.
Never disappoints, but never “wows” me either. Servers at times give the impression that they’re simply going through the motions. Our server was attentive, but not overly personable. Food came out quickly. Food was fine. To me, people frequent Legal Sea Foods because it’s a Boston legacy. I think there are better options out there (not necessarily around Chestnut Hill), but I’ve never left Legal’s unhappy with the meal / service.
Legal Seafoods is one of our favorite lunch spots, starting with the fresh baked rolls. The fish is always fresh and delicious.
Great tasting and fresh seafood! Plus, great customer service!
Food excellent as always, service slightly lacking
It was my birthday and my husband wanted to take me to Harborside but I didn't feel going all the way to the Seaport district. Then we decided to go Legal seafood in chestnut hill at the street. It was an excellent dinner including the atmosphere, the food. I have enjoyed every bit of it. The food was delicious. Our server which I don't remember his name was excellent and he was very friendly, courteous, kind and he did a marvelous job
Went for grandpa's 80th birthday because Legal Seafood has always been his favorite. Their seafood is reliably good, nicely prepared. They are a Boston tradition for a reason. Service was excellent.
I put on the Open Table reservation that we were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and my husband's birthday. They seated us at a quiet table by the window. Our server was incredible making sure that we had everything we needed to enjoy the evening. The food was delicious as always and served piping hot. Everyone checked on us to see if we needed anything. When it came time for dessert, we ordered the chocolate layer cake which was brought out drizzled with chocolate syrup and two candles. Our server even offered to take our photo. Five stars and two thumbs up!
A great restaurant with consistently excellent food.
Our server did a great job of bringing our kid’s food out quickly. They also have a great kids menu.
Very solid food. Not exciting but reliably good. Excellent roasted mushrooms.
Consistently good American cuisine !Nothing fancy or elaborate but good food always!
Service is outstanding, friendly, prompt, responsive, and attentive.
Took my elderly parents and a couple of friends and had a pleasurable experience.
Accessible to physically challenged.
Waiter was poor, and in attentive
Seafood is always fresh and excellent. Pricey, but has some seafood that's hard to find elsewhere.
My husband and I had 2 excellent meals as usual. Legal Seafood at Chestnut Hill is my favorite Legal The food is always perfect and the service is superb. Yum! From a gluten free celiac
I have never had a bad meal at Legal’s. A++++ the food and the service is fantastic.
We've been going to Legal Seafoods for years. This time we both felt the food was okay. The noise level is always a little high. Service was fine. I recently ate at the Burlington Legal and felt my lunch was just okay there too. So, I don't know if it's me or Legal.
Food is great as usual fish excellent.
Make a reservation and they give you small table booth that it is difficult putting feet under if tall.
When you ask for other table and restaurant is just about empty you have to say you will leave before they give you a little bigger table. when restaurant is empty do not understand that attitude. when I left they still had plenty of empty tables on a weekday
Decent food, not the best and a little pricey for what we got.
Our server Katherine L. was excellent - personable, efficient and attentive
Worst calamari ever. Went on Saturday night. The calamari came out in "clusters"...like tentacles all stuck together. Only four "rings" (Usually, one gets mostly rings and only a couple of tentacles). They were over battered and over fried. Had to send them back. Steamed broccoli is barely steamed (had to ask for it to be cooked longer). Server was great but clearly overworked. This location is going through a transition but needs to get its act together. It's living off past glory and the rest of the world has caught up with better food, better service, and more creative menus.
Always great food and service- exceptionally impressive on a busy Saturday night.
Perfect dinner for a Saturday night before another snow storm. The Bang Bang Cauliflower and Cajun-grilled swordfish were just what we needed to warm us up.
We always have a great time at Legals. Great service and delicious food! I think next year we will think twice about coming to legals on Valentine’s Day night though. Of course they were extreme busy (so we made a reservation weeks before) but we were placed at a very small round table between two large tables which made it difficult for servers to get by. We had to constantly move our seats for people to squeeze by, which was pretty annoying. Although we were just a table of two, we usually splurge and enjoy the larger entrees and apps at legals. This time we ordered more then a dozen of oysters and a baked stuffed lobster so the table was not nearly as large as it usually is which made it difficult to enjoy everything. All and all, we did have a great time and the service was excellent. We will come back just not on Valentine’s day.
I️ have been eating at this legal seafood for over 30 years
Have always been satisfied but this time my tuna steak had a large sinew and the waiter never came to check if things were ok
A little disappointed
Disappointed this visit have been to this restaurant at least 50 timesin my life.
Service was slow calamari greasy and not well prepRed
However steamers were quite good as were the Shumai
Very disappointed in the lobster thermidor dry not very tasty and small based on price and side dish of spinach soaked in butter
Only good for raw food
Consistent in quality and good service. The restaurant would be even better if it were to freshen its decor and ventilation system. They sate family friendly which is wonderful.
I've been eating at Legal Seafood since the original one in Inman Square. You can't beat Legal for great seafood and delicious rolls. Old favorites like clam chowder and crab cakes are the best around. Even unexpected dishes like shrimp pad thai are delicious if not authentic.
The servers are always friendly and efficient. The Chestnut Hill Legal Seafood is worth a drive.
Food is excellent good fresh fish. Tables are to small have problem placing feet under table
As usual they never disappoint a ver enjoyable
Wonderful food (especially the tempura shrimp special) and great service, even on a busy Saturday night.
Our server Katherine L. was excellent - personable, efficient and attentive
Great food and awesome service. The manager came around to check that everything was going well, which was appreciated. My 94 year old father could not have enjoyed himself any more than he did.
I normally like Legals, but this was a huge disappointment. To be somewhat fair, it was a Saturday evening and it was busy. Had a 7:30 reservation and wasn't seated until almost 8pm. From there on we were rushed by the wait staff and manager. Had salads and entree. We were only half way done with the salads when the food came out - fried fisherman's platter for me, Salmon for my wife. The manager brought the fried food out way too early. I moved my salad to the side to make room and the waiter tried to take the salad, sticking his thumb in my dish in the process. Offered to "keep my food warm" while I finished my salad. Everyone knows fried food needs to be eaten right away. I took it right then, but , alas, it was already soggy. Clams were mush and inedible;calamari was soggy; white fish and scallops were good. When my wife's salmon came out the waiter took just took her salad without asking, even though she was not finished. Her salmon was good as was the rest of her dish. While noisy, that is to be expected on a Saturday evening, but the poor service( and planning) and treatment is not.
Great food and service for a Winter night. Bang Bang Cauliflower especially warmed things up.
