Always reliably good food. We like the raw bar appetizer, the crab cakes, and the ice cream bon bons for dessert. One of our favorite spots!
Perfect as usual but the wine is getting too pricey.
Lump crab cake with seasonal salad was terrific (as appetizer)!
Reliably wonderful food here - in an environment conducive to good conversation. Helpful and knowledgeable waiters. It's why I'm a regular!
A bit noisy until the restaurant cleared out.
We have been visiting Legals at many of its locations for decades and we have never had a bad experience. This visit was no exception.
We were cordially greeted and sat at a booth near the front of the restaurant. The ambiance and noise level were what we expected for a Saturday night. That said, Legals is not cozy, nor is it necessarily conducive to quiet conversation.
Our server was great - professional, friendly and attentive. She took our orders promptly and met all of our demands cheerfully. Staff bussing food to the tables could have been better - we received our calamari appetizer without plates or a serving utensil. We also had wanted warmed marinara, which was nowhere to be found. Our server rectified the issue.
The food was great - my son and I had filets, which were perfectly prepared and some of the best meat we have ever had. My wife's haddock was spicy and delicious. Sides were copious and tasty.
The wine list has some very nice selections available and the cocktails were fantastic. Prices were average, not excessive.
We had to forgo dessert because the main courses were so filling.
Overall, our experience was very good. I think had it been a little quieter and had the food been bussed better, our experience would have been excellent.
Went to celebrate a birthday and had a great meal! Our waiter (Roger) had perfect timing!
Very reliable. Hard to imagine better crab cakes anywhere. The tuna sashimi app was delicious as always.
Marissa gave us friendly, thorough service without hovering. Dinner was well cooked and we weren't rushed out when we wanted to linger over our drinks. A nice upscale/casual dining spot.
Why did they take away the baked potato as a side?? Please bring it back ASAP.
I have appreciated LSF for over 50 years but I was VERY disappointed this last time for it has AGAIN removed the baked potato from the menu of sides. PLEASE put it back on.
I've been a patron of Legal Sea Foods for years, and it rarely disappoints! I was celebrating a 15 year work anniversary and wanted to celebrate (and spend my bonus) on your amazing oysters and lobster roll. It was exactly what I wanted. Also, the tuna entree that my husband ordered was phenomenal and the cocktail we ordered was perfect. We also had an exceptional server. All around a perfect dining experience.
The grilled Haddock was extraordinary. As always the seafood was topnotch
Everything was great. Food excellent.
Our server Hannah was excellent-upbeat, helpful, efficient and she knew the menu very well.
Wait staff, Simon, was as fun as ever. He waited on the same group of women last July and charmed everyone. We were looking forward to being served by him again. Kudos.
My halibut steak was cooked to perfection. Salad was quite good.
Legal Sea Foods consistently features the highest-quality fresh sea food, deliciously prepared, with generous portion sizes and excellent side dishes. A long-time New Yorker, since all New York State restaurants were closed, I will go out of my way to get to a Legal Sea Foods whenever I can! Hands-down, superior to NYC fish specialty restaurants ...
The food is fine. Too salty for me, and too much butter for my medical diet (you can ask them to leave it out but they use it in odd ways, like for cooking fish, which I didn't think to ask the chef to avoid), but the fish is never overcooked and there are several vegetable and salad side dishes. Also the noise level is good--a rare blessing. I go out to eat with people in large part so we can talk, and few places are left where that's easily possible.
We had a pre-theater meal at Legal, the night before the cyclone bomb hit Boston. Our fish dinners were delicious. We told our server that our 50th wedding anniversary was coming soon. We were surprised by a delicious dessert, photo below.
Nice experience at the bar with Dan.
I think this is my favorite Legals. Food is always great, and the atmosphere is more pleasing than many other Legals.
Legal is a consistent, superb restaurant group, high marks in all categories, all locations. The food is consistently superb. Legal Seafood in Charles Square is an excellent value also because of the discounted parking.
Food here very disappointing, same dishes last year were better. would not reutrn
Legal is our go-to restaurant when we go to Revels. We can count on good menu choices, quick service and well-prepared food.
Christmas Day dinner was outstanding. Food and service were fantastic. We will definitely be back!
Legal Seafood at the Charles Hotel in Cambridge is our favorite Legal location. It is intimate and a good spot for people watching. We enjoyed going here on Christmas Day. Busy enough, but not too busy. Always good quality, pleasant atmosphere and service. Pricey enough for us to be a special occasion restaurant.
Xmas Eve dinner for my wife and me, at this very familiar favorite restaurant. All very nice -- very good wines by the glass; very good entrees; good service, if slightly slow; decent value. The only slight problem was that our food wasn't as hot as it should have been. My fish filet and most of my wife's combo plate were decently warm, while the shrimp on her plate was hot. Apparently the plates waited for the last component to cook. The place was very busy when we arrived, maybe that had something to do with it.
Very nice people. We had to change our reservation twice. No problem.
We've dined at Legals for many years but I have to report the quality has dropped, we were disappointed with both the food and the service. Servers were very polite but some of our orders were missed and took a long time to come. More problematically, the food wasn't at the level that we've been accustomed to. One of our party simply had to send their food back and no one reported anything better than OK for their entrees. Given the creeping prices, we probably won't be back, at least to this particular restaurant.
We have been to a couple of other legal Seafood Restaurants, and are usually not disappointed. We happened to be in the Cambridge area and found out that there was a Legal nearby. What a find. This place is wonderful. The General Manager (John) said that most of the staff have been there for a while, and I can see why. I have a gluten allergy, and this is the first time I was able to have the seafood casserole anywhere. Our server was Dexter. He was both courteous and professional. We will definitely be back to this gem of an eating establishment!
Excellent seafood with a very nice atmosphere! We had the perfect waiter.....Roger!
I don't eat fish - allergies - so when I go out with out of towners or fish lovers I usually get the chicken breast. That's not available at lunch, so I got a caesar salad with grilled chicken breast. one of the worst caesar salads I've ever had. The salad seemed to have been dressed the day before. The lettuce was so limp, I couldn't get it on the fork. I should have complained, but I was with a group for a celebration. It should not have been served in that condition.
I had the Fish Chowder and Market Salad - both were delicious, but especially the chowder. It's a favorite! This was a last-minute rather impromptu dinner but we were seated quickly, service was nice, and we enjoyed our meal tremendously.
Very old decor, felt like it was 1975.
Food was bland.
My husband and I celebrated our 52nd anniversary and we wanted to spend it in the area of our old stopping grounds. We both went to high school together in Cambridge and it brought back a lot of fond memories. Love the location and it was so festive with all the decorations for the
holiday. The food was delicious and they surprised us with a special dessert to celebrated our
anniversary. It will be fun to come back in the summer, when we can eat outside.
Everything was fine excep music way too loud in a half full restaurant
This restaurant was going downhill (I even had some bad oysters), however my last experience was very encouraging. Did they get wind of the fact that they risked losing their reputation? It's important to me, because it is one of my neighborhood restaurants, I am a frequent flier, and because my wife has celiac disease and they are very good about this.
Special Thanksgiving dinner was everything we expected.
As always, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The oysters were fabulous, as was the bay scallops appetizer. Meghan, our service, was attentive without crowding us. Main course fish dishes were very tasty, and the hot pudding chocolate cake dessert was delightful as always.
Legal's is reliable yet boring. This location is 5 years past a remodel.
