Legal Sea Foods - Burlington Mall
All roads lead to Legal Sea Foods. In this case, we are located near four main highways (Routes 128, 95, 93 and 3) on the first level of the Burlington Mall. Make the most of our convenient restaurant location - come for the seafood and stay to shop. Our bar, dining room and stand-alone take-out counter reel in those who want to splash down for a meal or grab-and-go.
We’ve received a boatload of accolades including “#1 Best Seafood Restaurant” (USA Today, 2013), “Most Popular Boston Restaurant” (Zagat, 2012/2013), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Improper Bostonian, 2010), “Best Chowder” (Boston Magazine, 2010) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.
Sunday: 11:00am - 9pm
Pleased that my favorite option of "spicy" has been restored to the fish and chips order.
Legal Sea Foods always has the freshest fish and good specials to choose from. We go here often and are never disappointed.
We enjoyed the sole on the “classics “ menu. It is perfectly prepared and sits atop a bed of Basmati rice and spinach. The flavors are an excellent blend.
Legal’s is always great! A little expensive but well worth the cost for the best seafood in Boston, always well prepared and creative. Excellent service as well.
Food is normally much better
Got soft shell crab sandwich. Not great, just tasted like anything fried
My colleague got a chicken and cheese dish it was buried in cheese
Usually much better
Did not have a great Experience at this location. Have been to seaport and Lynnfield several times and always thought it was great. First off it was obvious our waitress had no idea what she was talking about. We wanted oysters that were on the small side and the ones she recommended were huge. We hardly saw her throughout the meal even after asking for extra bread and water, we ended up flagging down another waitress to get it for us. My husband order the shrimp pasta with no mushrooms as he is allergic, and when it brought it out it had mushrooms in it. Just very disappointing experience, even more so because we had my mother in from out of town who was really looking forward to oysters and did not love them.
Dissapointed my drink had a bug in it and server did not offer a free drink.
Food was cold. Coffee seemed like its was day's old.
For consistently fresh, fabulous food, this is the place! If you haven’t been in a while, go back, it’s just as good as you remember it.
As always the Chowder is outstanding served hot and delicious. The roles are perfect crunchy on the outside crusty and soft on the inside again served piping hot. My chopped salad was delicious. The only complaint we would have was the shrimp dish that my husband had was a little bit dry
This Legal location needs a total makeover. They could start by cleaning and repairing the bathrooms...disgusting and with doors that did not work.
The seats and table old and dirty.
Food was terrible. Not cooked the way we requested. The coffee was undrinkable so I sent it back. To the waitresses credit, she went back to make a fresh pot of coffee.
I have used this location on a pretty frequent basis for business lunches due to location. I will certainly never take a guest there again unless Legal does a total makeover.
We always visit Legal when in the north east! Too bad they aren’t down south.
We were there for a family birthday. We found the staff very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious. We have Vegetarians with us and they had no problem finding a delicious meal on the menu. All and all it was a great night. Thank you!!!
Riding on their laurels from the days of truly great seafood in Inman Square. It's tough for a one shop operation to become a corporate giant and maintain the same quality of food and service. This is a case in point. Not bad food, just not great food.
We frequent Legal Seafood in Framingham and Chestnut Hill. Our experiences at those locatons have made us repeat customers. Burlington location is not on a par and we would not return.
I had requested a booth for us but they brought us to a table instead. They did put us to a booth after I told them I had request a booth.
The server mixed up our soup order. Also, brought out our appreciate with an entree together. She was a nice young young lady but I feel like it is lack of proper training. Maybe management should provide better training.
I have loved Legal Seafood for many years but moved away from the area 20 years ago. We were in Boston and decided to visit Legal Seafood while there. We were all very disappointed though. My favorite clam chowder seemed rather boring and certainly not as I remembered it. My fried clams were also disappointing without the same perfect flavor. The breading seemed too thick and did not enhance the flavor of the slightly overcooked clams. Both my husband and daughter were also let down. My husband’s fish and chips were overcooked with too much poorly flavored breading. My daughter had garlic shrimp with pasta and thought there was too much pasta and not enough sauce. It seems like a lot has changed but not for the better.
I don't know what the big deal is with this place. I thought the food was average at best and not worth the money.
Tops In all respects
Most of the food was excellent. So was the service. Waiter could not have been nicer. Great oysters on half shell. Clam chowder the best. I have had better fish tacos but they were fine but a little fishy. Tuna rice bowl was the best I’ve had. All n all, a very good lunch
Classic semi-upscale New England seafood traditions. We had a group for a work dinner and they took care of our group excellently. Service was attentive, but at times it seemed like it lagged. Definitely not "cheap" as a cup of soup is $7, but the quality, service, and ambiance make it a nice place to eat.
Our waiter George did an excellent job. Our food arrived hot and delicious
Great for it's specialty: seafood. Can be a bit loud. Some windows overlook huge Mall parking lot, which can be a bit distracting, especially with headlights at night.
great fish and fresh sides - always good. the decor is not very exciting.
Have been here before and had a good experience This time however was the opposite Seating was terrible even though had a resevation and arrived a little early
A noisy dimly lit area where I had to keep moving my chair so that handicapped patrons could get to the bathroom
Food not presented well and only fair tasting at best Based on these issues I will not be returning Very upsetting experience overall
Very good as usual. Very good as usual. Very good as usual. Very good as usual. Very good as usual. Very good as usual. Very good as usual.
I feel like Legal is stuck in nowhere land. We have been fans for many years, since the days of picnic tables in Inman Square. Our meals on Thursday night were ok, but uninspired for the price. The steamed lobster offering potatoes with yogurt dressing made everyone at our table laugh. My sole was dry and the sides were meh. I wish they’d go back to doing their traditional menu well, with modern offerings for those who crave them.
Food was excellent. Would highly recommend. Was worried about the mall setting but the restaurant was very nice.
Food was so over cooked. Fried seafood came out almost burnt.
We have never been here before, but read in the reviews that portions were generous and they were. Three of us shared two plates and there was still more than enough. We got a Seafood platter that included whole Calamari (squid, with the tentacles, yikes!) When we told the waitress we didn't expect tentacles, she told the manager and they brought us a substitution of shrimp and scallops that were delicious! They were genuinely concerned about making our experience enjoyable!
Mussels and clams were sandy; butternut squash was undercooked. Prices were ridiculously high for mall dining.
They need a refresh overall, including decor. Quality of food was not on par with pricing.
Great food and great service. Best sea food around.
New to the area. First time at Legal Seafoods. The food was exceptional. I'd suggest just a little more waitress attention, as my diet coke was empty for over ten minutes until she return to see if we were checking our of needed desert. We had desert. I admired the "lower" key relaxed setting and the food was exceptional. So much so that when we toured Boston we at Legal Seafoods near the wharf.
Great time, great food and great service. Just check your bill if your there with more than 6 people, we accident got charged for the whole cake instead of a slice of cake with a group of 6.
Legal is reliably good. The server was a little too chatty when she delivered the food and then disappeared when we were ready for the bill. Otherwise it was an excellent experience.
This was not our best trip to Legal. The drinks arrived warm, flat, and with little ice. The steamers were not all thoroughly cooked and several had broken shells. The waitress technically did her job but was not proactive in ensuring a good experience.
Swordfish was great! Grilled to perfection. Red onion jam went beautifully with it.
I was disappointed with the quality of the food . It was a on the dry side . It’s very pricey for the amount of food you receive.
The food and service were all very good. The only thing that we were disappointed about was that the featured blueberry dessert was not available.
