Legal Sea Foods - Burlington Mall Ratings and Reviews
Staff upon entry ignored reservations because they were preoccupied with talking amongst themselves about how slow it was with the snow storm! Was seated the furthest from the entrance passing empty table after empty table? Only to be seated near the restroom, host joked that seating was in case we got sick we would be near the restroom. Waitress kept bringing over bill when were clearly not finished our meal, each time she would apologize for bringing the bill early. Had cioppino that was overcooked. Overall not the Legal I have known in the past, will not return even for free meal!
Legal seafoods is dependable. The food will meet a minimum standard that is high enough. The only problem is I've noticed how in the last 4-5 years the prices keep going up and up and up and it becomes and ever more expensive option to go there for a regular dinner. It used to be that 5 years ago my family of 4 would go there every other month for a weekend dinner, but now I'm not sure it makes financial sense.
While the food was great, as usual, Legal’s in Burlington had an off night on New Year’s Day. It took about 15 minutes after our reservation time to be seated and our server changed. Service was slow and we witnessed one of the waitresses (our original server) having a tantrum.
Both our meals were absolutely delicious!
The one MAJOR negative was my swordfish dinner. I really thought it was an appetizer when it was put in front of me. Both the swordfish and the mashed potatoes were 1/2 the portion of what I would expect given the price of the meal.
We've been several times over the years when visiting Boston. The seafood is reliably good if not memorable. It's a good environment for catching up with old friends. Not a bargain but the service is friendly and unrushed without being too slow. We left a cell phone and the restaurant was great about making sure we could retrieve it well after closing time.
Would not be a good value, but for the outstanding service. Fish and chips was $19.95. Though it was a very large portion, it was too large for one and is more a family size. It could be scaled down to a reasonable portion and the price reduced along with it. Halibut was $32.
I took my granddaughter there for lunch before she returned to college. We both had a very enjoyable lunch. She is working part-time in the mall while on school break. She sad that she was going to get something for her dinner break, so she decided on sushi. I requested our waiter to get this for her, and in no time he was back with her sushi. As always, I am very pleased with Legal's food and service. I wish I could eat there everyday...
Our waitress was terrible. We sat without water or any kind of drinks for twenty minutes after arriving. When she finally came with the water, she poured each glass so sloppy that water ended up all over the floor each time (group of 4 people). She also rushed us while ordering, and made a face that I asked for both butter and mayo with my ($30) lobster roll. My mother did not receive a knife the entire time and had to eat without one since the waitress did not come by to check one time. My cousin also did not enjoy her meal/did not take more than a few bites, which was also unnoticed by the waitress who did not come by to check. For these expensive prices we expect way better service, regardless of how busy it may be. The only time she was present was when she was waiting for the check. During that time, she came back twice within a few minutes. Disappointing experience from a regular customer. I used to visit this location twice a month but it has gone downhill.
Went to Legal Seafood at Burlington Mall for Christmas dinner. Given it was Christmas Day and snowy conditions, I am impressed with all of the staff. The restaurant was crowded, but we were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation and they were doing a great job with managing the traffic. Food was excellent and our waiter was superb. Stellar customer service.
We went on Christmas Day when most other restaurants are closed and the food and service was great. We got a nice corner booth, no waiting and the waiter was experienced and cordial.
The butter sauce with the salmon was light and tasty and not too heavy on the butter. The mushroom raviolis were tender and not mushy.
the three ice cream bon bons were tasty and good quality.
no complaints at all!
Legal is always a favorite go-to restaurant. I first went to Legal when they opened in Cambridge and you paid for your dinner when you ordered, not at the end of the meal. Since then they have expanded to several locations. The staff at Legal is well-trained. Alway attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The food is usually constantly good but this time the chef's choice trio of fish was overlooked. The crab cake appetizer and the clam chowder were fabulous., as was my husband's Fiord Salmon. My cocktail of choice is a "Sidecar" so I am particular about the way it is made. Even though the bartender had not made one before it was more than acceptable. My biggest complaint, which is the same one I mentioned in my last review is the foil-wrapped butter patties!!!! It may be a little thing but is is so pedestrian and beneath Legal Seafoods standard. I had mentioned it to our waitress and hoped she might bring my some butter from the kitchen, but NO ... we got the usual two rolls with two little foil-wrapped butter patties. But if you are looking for an above average seafood restaurant with excellent service and consistency, I highly recommend Legal Seafoods.
We come to Legal Seafoods a few times a year. I always love a fisherman's platter, but I haven't been too happy with the one at Legal's in Burlington. It says it comes with clams, scallops, calamari, shrimp, and white fish. Most of what was on my plate was French fries and calimari. I would just as soon leave the calimari off, and next time I'll ask for it without the calimari. The calimari far outnumbered the clams and scallops.
My husband also ordered the fisherman's platter and asked if he could have his WITHOUT clams, and substitute extra scallops instead. When our meals came, he had the same number of scallops (3) as I did, and lots of calimari.
The manager was really nice, though, and when we brought it to his attention, he ran back and had them bring out a plate with four nice large scallops for him.
Overall, I like it there, and we always go back.
