Legal Sea Foods - Braintree – Forbes Road
We were seated in a high traffic area, near the kitchen doors and pass, but someone had to sit there. The food was scrumptious. The stuffing for by baked stuffed shrimp was about 75% crabmeat, which was astounding. I’d had it not long ago, and the proportion was much lower. The cioppino was declared superb.
The occasion was my birthday, which I noted on our Open Table reservation, just to see what would happen. Here’s what happened: nothing. Not even a congratulatory phrase at checkin. Oh well.
The only negative was our server, a tall man who called me “love” twice, which was NOT okay, but he moved so fast, I never had a chance to tell him. Every request was answered with, “You got it”, and occasionally a hand signal with the index and pinkie fingers extended. Neither offensive nor appreciated.
Calamari(Rhode Island style) appetizer was very good. Portion sizes was great! Service was excellent.
Service was great and good selection on menu. Rolls before meal are delicious! Desserts are fantastic too.
Good food. The Lite Fish Chowder came out ice cold but our entrees were excellent.
Excellent food and service, as always! The Crabcakes are the best!!
I have not visited this location prior to now and based on this experience will return frequently. The service was prompt and the food great. Although busy, it is not as hectic as locations in Boston which allows for a more relaxing experience.
Not at all up to standard for Legal Seafood! What happened to the old menu?
We sat at the bar, service is always excellent there. Kudos to Miles & Jose, best bartenders!
It had been a few years since we’ve been to Legal seafood and we were looking for a good seafood restaurant on south shore of Boston. Legal seafood in Braintree popped up and we had the best Cioppino (fish stew). Price was reasonable, portion was large and there was lots of great fresh seafood eg lobster, shrimp, scallops, mussels, clams and calamari. The broth was delicious with a little bit of kick! We will definitely be going back.
We waited over 20 minutes for our table. It appeared that they seated people that did not have reservations ahead of us. It was a disaster. Our table was near the kitchen and the noise level was almost unbearable. One of our orders was served just barely warm and fried clams were over fried (dark brown and rubbery--again). We like Legal and will write this off a just a bad night and hope that the dining experience is better next time we visit.
We loved the seafood it was delicious . The service started out slow but our waitress finished great!
As always, the food and overall experience was top notch. never disappointed.
We eat at legals often. Salds were great. The lit clam chowder was not like it used to be. Taste like old bay spice and not as "fresh" tasting as we remember. Scallop dish was the best we have ever had.
Extremely slow service and my fish was over cooked.
Even though we live much closer to the Legacy Place location, we opted to go to Braintree because the Chef there is superior. We had made a reservation a week ahead of time, but on arrival they gave us a buzzer and made us wait 35 minutes😲 Other people arrived, waiting for a couple minutes and were then seated...seemed a little strange...we even reminded the hostess that we existed and we still waited. The food however was outstanding!!!
Hopefully next time we will get a better Hostess experience.
Wife & I celebrated our anniversary, had a nice time!
My 37 birthday with my parents and my best friend. The three people I care about the most
Small portions for the price
My shrimp was over cooked and the stuffing was burnt
We were only given 2 rolls
The waitress was never there when we needed her even though it’s was my husband and myself I think the hood of my car was bigger than the table they sat us at
I would never recommend or go there again the food was gross
This was the first time we’ve ever been disappointed with a meal or experience at Legal Seafoods. Service and food were not on point like usual. Hostess was sort of unfriendly when greeting us and as we were leaving one of the hostesses had her hand in her shoe yes her hand in her shoe which was off of her foot when she said good bye. Waitress took our app order and walked away without offering drinks. Didn’t come back for 5 minutes or so. My martini had a fly in it. An actual fly. Streamers, oysters, and calamari were ok but just not as good as what we’re used to. The waitress was nice overall and corrected my drink quickly enough. It’s just not the experience or quality we’d expect for what we spent or compared to other visits. I hope this chain is not going down hill because it’s one of our favorites and usually always solid. Well definitely give you another shot and sincerely hope not to be disappointed again!
Overpriced for the quality
Excellent food, especially the oyster dishes. Service first rate..
The four of us enjoyed our night out. We were seated immediately even though the restaurant was crowded, thanks to Open Table reservations. Our food was delicious, our server Vanessa was wonderful, the pace of service was perfect, overall, a great night.
It was okay? The service was good, the drinks were good, the food was more average than expected. Appetizers were the best part. The shrimp dumplings, the tuna tartar, oysters and shrimp were excellent. The two Tuna steaks ordered at the table were cold, almost frozen in the middle. I always get the Tuna steak and it was the worst I have ever had, surprisingly. The Filet Mignon was more like a flank steak, if that makes sense, over seasoned and just not what we expected a steak to be. Seasoning a steak that much doesn’t do it any good. The drinks were excellent as was the service. I think it is a pretty good place, but I don’t think I would plan to go back again. I’ve dome Harborside and The one near the Aquarium. This just wasn’t the same.
service was excellent. one in the party has severe food allergies and server and kitchen very accommodating.
Always get great service and great food at Legal Seafood! One of my favorites
It was a really nice atmosphere. The only reason for the 4 stars on food was because the Ritz crackers in my stuffed lobster was in chunks instead of crushed and the lobster was really dry. But it had a really good flavor and taste. The drinks were wonderful.
We have been going to Legal Seafood for over 30 years. The food is always fresh and clean and delicious.
We particularly enjoy eating raw clams. Legals is the only place where I will trust the kitchen because they have a microbiology lab testing for hepatitis etc. The meal was delicious. The service was fantastic. The greeters were friendly and helpful. Wicked awesome eh!
Jose is a great bartender.
Our waitress was remarkably patient with my 96 year old Mother
Example we ordered an Allagash white which in 16 oz glass which bowled my Mom over
We asked for two glasses and the waitress said she d talk to the bartender to make them More manageable amounts
My Mom was very pleased
She likes beer but only drinks small glasses and only at dinner
The waitress was patient about answering questions from Mother also
Can t recall her name but we did sit near a window about 12:30 on Friday afternoon
One funny comment a few weeks ago my mom ordered clam pizza and there were no clams on the pizza. She asks me if I ever mentioned this when
I m rating Legal Seafood
We do enjoy our visits and have been going about once a month for two years
We will continue
Good job LEGAL!!
Always a good choice
I have been going to Legal for the last 30 years (starting in Chestnut Hill) and this was not a good meal. Husband and guests had fish and chips which were over breaded and over fried. Hard to find the fish. Rolls were overly warmed up and very hard to eat. You could always count on the rolls. Maybe heating them is not a good idea. New Chief??? I have never had a bad meal until this one. Clam chowder was good. Drinks were good. I have always recommended Legal, now it would be with caution. Waitress was very polite but not real attentive.
Very good food, service and atmosphere.
I had the best baked stuffed lobster that I've ever had. It was full of shrimp, scallops. and lobster, cooked perfectly
Everything about this restaurant is top notch. Excellent service as soon as we walked in. The staff was friendly and the food and service was excellent.
We always dine here when visiting in Braintree. Good service, wonderful food and a very relaxing atmosphere.
It's an easy place to gather because it has lots of free parking and close to the highway. The food is the typical Legal experience - the food is expensive and consistently high quality. We loved the fish tacos and shrimp tacos. The rolls are consistently good. Our waitstaff member was good until the end of our meal, where we had quite a long wait for the bill.
The food was delicious. While our waitress was very nice, I think she had too many tables. My son never received his cup of clam chowder. It was forgotten and he never go it. Then, our salads which we expected up front with the appetizers were brought out with our main meals. Some meals were brought out before others. The 3 desserts were brought out separately. The vegetable side dishes were not what we requested so we had to wait for new ones for 2 in our group of 6. I requested ahead of time to have a candle in my son's dessert for his birthday . I put it on open table request and it was not done. My son did get a dessert though. All in all, the service was incredibly disappointing and we won't be coming back or recommending anyone go.
Super slow, food was ok at best and not worth the $.
I ordered the Seafood Casserole. Received the wrong item, and was agreeable to keep it (as it took us a long time to get our food). Thought it would have been an excellent opportunity for the waitress to comp a dessert or do something with the bill. Perhaps she could have noticed the food was barely touched. When I agreed to take the food, I didnt realize the taste wouldnt be pleasing. I am sure this is a good restaurant and our experience is not the norm. That said, I would have a hard time recommending based on this one experience.
