About Legal Sea Foods - Braintree – Forbes Road
Our new location in Braintree is making a splash. Designed to evoke memories of vintage seafood restaurants, the space offers as many seating options as fish in the sea. Most notable are the three bars – including an oyster bar and food bar along the exposed kitchen – to satisfy any thirst (or hunger) for fun. In warm weather, a glass wall slides back to a large patio.
Our menu includes all the Legal Sea Foods classics, but also some specialties of the house that will reel you in. And our late night menu, available Friday and Saturday, begins two hours before close.
We’re located right off of Route 93 in South Shore Place, across the street from South Shore Plaza.

Legal Sea Foods - Braintree – Forbes Road Ratings and Reviews
Great seafood restaurant and service above and beyond-one of our party was allergic to seafood. There were non-seafood items on the menu and the staff took great pains to cook and serve the non-seafood meal to avoid cross-contamination. Truly exemplary service.
I had Cajun grilled salmon that was excellent along with a perfectly baked potato and fresh green beans. Others in my party loved their meals, too. Good service and friendly waitperson. Sat outside which was great on a warm summer evening and other than music being much too loud, it was great. Been before and definitely will go again.
I couldn't wait to celebrate with my friends at one of my favorite restaurants. The service was so bad and our waitress appeared inattentive and off, which led to a disappointing evening. Extremely disappointed in the way our server handled the bill and annoyed that the manger offered no additional assistance in handling the situation. When your friends are taking you out for your birthday, setting the bill should be effortless, not uncomfortable. What should have been a great evening with friends, celebrating my birthday, was embarrassed. It will be a long time for me to go back😕
I frequently eat at Legal Seafoods., and this was my second time at Legal Seafoods in Braintree. The first occasion was lunch. This time was a dinner. The lunch was better than the dinner. I was a bit disappointed in the food - not up to Legal Seafoods standards. The salmon special was overcooked. I had the shrimp/crab casserole. It was only okay.
Dinner for two on a typical Tues night. Ordered steamers for both of us and were told they ran out! Really? This is Legal Seafood! It's like Santa running out of presents at Christmas - just shouldn't happen. Then one of us ordered trout - and, get this - out of that too! Come on!!!!!! This is a well known seafood restaurant! Another observation is that it was so loud in the restaurant. Not sure people really care for that level of noise. The wait staff seem stressed from the fast pace - took away from an attempt at a relaxing dinner. And prices seem to be a bit high for what you get. Legal has been a go-to place over the years, but no more for me. Plenty of other choices.
Birthday dinner for my husband. Everything was great, drinks, service, food until main course. Lobster was over cooked, the only thing I was looking forward to. Had the server wrap it as to not ruin the night for my husband. When we got home he mentioned the same. Everything else was great but wished the lobster was better. Won't be ordering that next time around. Almost $60.00 for some thing I could not enjoy.
Many of our friends are "tired" of Legal's menu, but the specials can be very rewarding. Our server was very nice and professional. Only issue we had came at the end over the status of a gift certificate. However, dining here is usually a fine experience and one of the better places on the South Shore.
Service was a little slow, it took about an hour to get food and drinks. It was crowded due to the Redsox game, so unsure if it was the crowd or kitchen for the delay. Food was ok, i have had better from this location. I had the shrimp with garlic, it was ok. Steaming hot, as if it came directly out of the microwave. My waiter henry was excellent, kept the table informed about the status of food and drinks. I would return to tge restaurant, I've been a few times and this waa the first of any concerns.
I have been eating at various Legal Sea Food locations starting when the food was on paper plates and you sat at a picnic table in Inman Square. Boy was the food fantastic and affordable even for a poor college student. The food has always been good in all the years since then and the rolls are terrific but the fish and seafood portions have shrunk as the prices have escalated and the locations have multiplied. Aside from the shrinking fish and seafood portions, the biggest disappointment to me are the mussels. They are really tiny and essentially not even worth trying to get out of the shell--and this has been my experience for at least the last few years and we go to Legal often. After our recent visit I will not be ordering the mussels unless I see that the offering improves. We get mussels in other restaurants and they are never as small or disappointing as the ones at Legal--Roger, take note--go to Teatro and have some really really delicious mussels that are decent sized--then use your huge buying power to serve good sized mussels--if they are only half as tasty as those at Teatro you will have improved yours 500%.
This particular Legal Seafood is my favorite and it is very popular. The online reservations are awesome! We arrived for Dinner on Saturday and there were many people waiting for tables, looked to be an hour wait time but we were seated immediately. GREAT food and good service.
Consistently great food. I had the crab cake trio with grilled shrimp and scallops. It was delicious.
My only complaint was the staff member(s) walking around with the mic and tablet watching patrons as they ate and reported back on when the table might be ready for the next party. It was distracting, annoying and bordered on stalking.
We are big fans of Legal Seafood. Unfortunately we did not have a pleasant experience this time. Our server was unfriendly, not intuitive, nor attentive. Our childrens' meals, the fish of the day special, were extremely small portions compared to every other time we've ordered them. Finally, the tuna steak was not cooked medium rare as we asked and our server never checked to see how everything was. We go to Legal Seafood with high expectations and this time they did not meet them. As a side note, we let the manager know and he contacted us that evening. He listened to our issues and did his best to compensate us. Customer service by management was excellent.
Overall good food but I wouldn't recommend the crab cakes. They have an overpowering pastry type top that ruins the delicate crab. My partner said he was disappointed with them to the server and she said oh. He wasn't impressed with her lack of concern. I had the seafood casserole, which was highly enjoyable, full of fish and the cheaper of the 2 mains.
