About Legal Sea Foods - Braintree – Forbes Road
Our new location in Braintree is making a splash. Designed to evoke memories of vintage seafood restaurants, the space offers as many seating options as fish in the sea. Most notable are the three bars – including an oyster bar and food bar along the exposed kitchen – to satisfy any thirst (or hunger) for fun. In warm weather, a glass wall slides back to a large patio.
Our menu includes all the Legal Sea Foods classics, but also some specialties of the house that will reel you in. And our late night menu, available Friday and Saturday, begins two hours before close.
We’re located right off of Route 93 in South Shore Place, across the street from South Shore Plaza.

Legal Sea Foods - Braintree – Forbes Road Ratings and Reviews
Our server was Ian M and he made a plain / normal evening into a great memory. His knowledge of the menu, coupled with the wine list went a long way with my wife and I.
He went out of his way to accommodate our dietary concerns and assist us in making great picks from their vast, fresh menu!
I love Legal’s, but their menu is smaller than it used to be. There is far less variety than I have experienced in the past. The wait staff is professional, efficient and knowledgeable. The host/hostess could use a bit more training in dining room management. They tend to seat lots of new tables in one area and that waiter can then be overwhelmed. It can be a bit loud when busy so I would not recommend for an intimate dinner. However, having said all of that, the food is dependably fresh and delicious. It’s always a planned stop when I’m in the Boston area.
We were a party of 5 that made reservations ahead and was seated in the back room on Christmas Eve. The restaurant had a large party, 30, in that room. The party basically took over the room walking around, yelling and standing over our table. This restaurant should have avoided seating others in that room. Made our special night out with family very uncomfortable. We had a horrible dinner with items just dropped on our table and no explanation of a gluten free item, since we had two people with allergies at our table. We had to wait for someone to return to ask if it was gluten free. Not a very good overall experience and not recommended if your looking for a restaurant that places customer concerns first. Seems like they really didn't care about others around this large uncontrolled party.
Once again, with a reservation, my party and I were offered a table in the bar. The restaurant was not full at 3 pm on December 24th!! Although the food was good, I don't understand this. When the mgr asked about our experience, I related that this was the 2nd year in a row that with a reservation, the hostess wanted to seat us in the bar. He stated that most guests like the bar area and no one had brought this to his attention before. He suggested calling the restaurant in the future vs opentable, and request to not be seated in the bar.
Legal Sea Foods in Braintree was a wonderful surprise. From the moment we arrived the service was top notch. We were able to get exactly the table we wanted even though they were about to put us somewhere else before I asked. Food is delicious. Great gluten free options, including bread!
Only downside is my girlfriend left her scarf there and it wasn’t found.
Definitely would go again!
I love this Legal seafood location. The atmosphere was amazing but what really made the experience amazing was the exceptional service by everyone. They were so kind and attentive. I would definitely return to this specific location. The food and drinks were amazing of course too!
The food here via their lunch menu was quite good and differs a bit from the dinner menu. Despite the place being packed for lunch, the service was very fast and the waitress was very attentive. The lunch prices are much less than the dinner prices and the food qualnity was about the same. This chain never seems to dissapoint no matter waht location you go to.
Our meal was great. The food was great. Gluten free options were great! If I'm being 100% honest our waiter was not up to par with my expectations of Legals. I've eaten here quite a bit and there were three notable incidents during out meal.
1 - My dates champagne glass was VERY dirty so we asked for a new glass. It was still 3/4 of the way full at the time and we were both honestly fine with just having him pour it into a new glass if that's what he decided to do. He came back after taking the dirty glass to the bar and the new glass was only half full... Just seems silly. In that case, and because it was so dirty initially, if I had been him I would have filled the new glass up. Strike #1.
2 - The rest of dinner was good. Uneventful even from the restaurant's perspective. We ordered coffee and tea at the end of our meal. When he walked away after giving my date her tea, hot water and milk he accidentally hit the milk container with his arm or something and it spun around and milk went flying everywhere. Fortunately it missed us completely. Strike #2 but accidents happen , we get that. He was not particularly apologetic.
3 - He was gone for a while getting something to clean it up, someone slipped on the milk on the floor. Luckily they did not fall, so we started warning people as they came by. He came back with a polyester napkin (not a great choice) and wiped up the floor and then AFTER wiping the floor, wiped the milk off of our table with the same napkin! Thankfully we were done with our meals so we mostly had a good chuckle about it as he walked away. Strike #3.
If he had gone above and beyond with any of the mishaps, none of them would have stood out. All in all a decent meal etc. It won't stop me from going back but I will avoid that waiter...
Haven’t been to a Legal Seafood in quite a while, and I am so happy that I made the decision this past Tuesday night.
Met a friend for dinner and had a wonderful experience.
The food, service, and ambience were all top-notch!
Ordered the arctic char, Caesar salad with extra anchovies ( hard to find a good Cesar these days; especially a restaurant that has great anchovies ).
Our server, Brian, was very friendly and quite professional.
The service definitely made for an excellent evening.
Looking forward to coming back very soon!
Legal Seafood touts itself as high quality and upscale. No great variety, Tuna, Swordfish, salmon and some shell fish. That's it. No inventiveness, no interesting dishes, run-of-the-mill seafood like you could get anywhere.
Legal Seafood just isn't worth the $25-$35 per plate and expensive drinks.
Dined alone after driving up from NJ on business. Was seated by the closed patio door which unfortunately had a cold draft blowing in. Complained and was immediately reseated. Enjoyed the rest of the meal at a warmer spot. Good response to a customer’s issue. Will be back.
Food is very good. However, you don't get a dedicated waiter. Anyone can be bringing anything and not know what you've ordered. We waited forever for a side item, and stopped 3 staff members before finally getting the item. Manager apologized and was very nice. For the money one spends here (it is not inexpensive), we think a dedicated waiter is the better way to go.
