About Legal Sea Foods - Braintree – Forbes Road
Our new location in Braintree is making a splash. Designed to evoke memories of vintage seafood restaurants, the space offers as many seating options as fish in the sea. Most notable are the three bars – including an oyster bar and food bar along the exposed kitchen – to satisfy any thirst (or hunger) for fun. In warm weather, a glass wall slides back to a large patio.
Our menu includes all the Legal Sea Foods classics, but also some specialties of the house that will reel you in. And our late night menu, available Friday and Saturday, begins two hours before close.
We’re located right off of Route 93 in South Shore Place, across the street from South Shore Plaza.

Legal Sea Foods - Braintree – Forbes Road Ratings and Reviews
Probably a one off tonight but the food was just okay. Not up to par with what I’ve come to expect from Legal Seafood. Our server was on the ball, however. He made recommendations of specials without pushing and was attentive enough to fill water or offer a new drink when glasses got low while not hovering. Food came out very quickly and while my wife enjoyed hers I definitely had some sand in my chowder and my sashimi tuna seemed under sized for the typical entree portion and was over cooked. This is usually a great choice for us to make a reservation directly after seeing a movie at the AMC nearby and it was good but not up to their usual standards. It was certainly it worth complaining about just a bit disappointed.
Excellent food, appetizers, and main dishes. Only problem was that it was uncommonly disorganized on this night. We had reservations but waited 25 minutes for a table.
The food was delivered in twice the normal time that it usually takes. Very slow.
Very busy night but I have been there on other busy nights and not had this experience.
We have been many times to this location . We Had a reservation, arrived in time ... and still waited for 15 minutes to be seated. The Food was good, and the service was good, however slow. Overall, dinner was ok, but for $120 for two people, one drink each, overall should be at least good.
Our server was Ian M and he made a plain / normal evening into a great memory. His knowledge of the menu, coupled with the wine list went a long way with my wife and I.
He went out of his way to accommodate our dietary concerns and assist us in making great picks from their vast, fresh menu!
I love Legal’s, but their menu is smaller than it used to be. There is far less variety than I have experienced in the past. The wait staff is professional, efficient and knowledgeable. The host/hostess could use a bit more training in dining room management. They tend to seat lots of new tables in one area and that waiter can then be overwhelmed. It can be a bit loud when busy so I would not recommend for an intimate dinner. However, having said all of that, the food is dependably fresh and delicious. It’s always a planned stop when I’m in the Boston area.
We were a party of 5 that made reservations ahead and was seated in the back room on Christmas Eve. The restaurant had a large party, 30, in that room. The party basically took over the room walking around, yelling and standing over our table. This restaurant should have avoided seating others in that room. Made our special night out with family very uncomfortable. We had a horrible dinner with items just dropped on our table and no explanation of a gluten free item, since we had two people with allergies at our table. We had to wait for someone to return to ask if it was gluten free. Not a very good overall experience and not recommended if your looking for a restaurant that places customer concerns first. Seems like they really didn't care about others around this large uncontrolled party.
we went for xmas eve and I was surprised how busy it was. we generally don't go out but apparently many do and the food and service was exceptional even being that busy! very relaxing not to have to cook and clean at home on xmas eve.
Once again, with a reservation, my party and I were offered a table in the bar. The restaurant was not full at 3 pm on December 24th!! Although the food was good, I don't understand this. When the mgr asked about our experience, I related that this was the 2nd year in a row that with a reservation, the hostess wanted to seat us in the bar. He stated that most guests like the bar area and no one had brought this to his attention before. He suggested calling the restaurant in the future vs opentable, and request to not be seated in the bar.
Legal Sea Foods in Braintree was a wonderful surprise. From the moment we arrived the service was top notch. We were able to get exactly the table we wanted even though they were about to put us somewhere else before I asked. Food is delicious. Great gluten free options, including bread!
Only downside is my girlfriend left her scarf there and it wasn’t found.
Definitely would go again!
I love this Legal seafood location. The atmosphere was amazing but what really made the experience amazing was the exceptional service by everyone. They were so kind and attentive. I would definitely return to this specific location. The food and drinks were amazing of course too!
The food here via their lunch menu was quite good and differs a bit from the dinner menu. Despite the place being packed for lunch, the service was very fast and the waitress was very attentive. The lunch prices are much less than the dinner prices and the food qualnity was about the same. This chain never seems to dissapoint no matter waht location you go to.
