See fish. Eat fish. Legal Sea Foods is located in downtown Atlanta’s Hilton Garden Inn, across from the Georgia Aquarium and World of Coca-Cola. Our two-story restaurant is double the fun for Atlantans who love seafood.
The buzz-worthy Oyster Bar is our street level lounge. Our second floor dining room features panoramic windows overlooking Centennial Olympic Park and Atlanta’s skyline, a balcony with outdoor seating and a wine room for semi-private parties. Nineteen signature cocktails, 28 wines by the glass and 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish will get you hooked.
Legal Sea Foods has received a boatload of accolades including being named “#1 Best Seafood Restaurant” in a nationwide poll by USA Today (2013) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.
Service was great, the ambiance was relaxing and the food overall was perfect! I’d definitely attend more often
A nice date night with my husband before the ATL United soccer game. Food was very good. Service was friendly. Only complaint was appetizer came out after entree’s were delivered. Also took too long for drink orders to be delivered.
I love going here to experience the ambiance and the great tasting food. Last night (at 10pm)we visited and we were extremely disappointed. The waitress came over to get our drink orders, and she advised..
-We are out of shrimp but we have certain dishes with shrimp in it
-We are out of lobster tail
-We are out of Tuna steak(which is what I wanted)
-And she named a couple of over things
We were going to leave but we decided to order a few appetizers and a soup. This is definitely not ACCEPTABLE LSF!
Well it didnt begin well. I ordered a planters punch drink at the bar and it had a rather large bug in it. I pointed it out to the bartender and he quickly made me another- before I could say I really didnt want another. I drank it cautiously and thought perhaps it would be complimentary or at least discounted. But no!
My friend and I were seated and we ordered dinner. I have to say in fairness she really enjoyed her meal. She ordered the fish and chips. I wish I had, but I did not. I had the crabcake appetizer and the rainbow trout entree. Both were so fishy they did not taste fresh at all to the extent that I ate one bite of the trout and that was all. The crabcake was very salty as if to cover up its age. In all very disappointing for a place named legal sea food 🤔
Met another couple for dinner before a comcert
Excellent food and service. So sad it is closing.
Great staff. Amazing gluten free and very helpful
Even gluten free rolls
I have heard such great things about Legal Seafood, I even asked around a little but my experience was the total opposite of what I expected. I surprised my boyfriend with a birthday dinner but I was the one surprised. When we first walked in, there was no one in sight, so we read the sign and went upstairs where we were seated. The view was nice minus the never ending construction in Atlanta. The cocktails were watered down probably because of the crushed (Sonic) ice that they put in them. The appetizers were really good, but that's it. We were constantly sending drinks back and we finally gave up on them. When the main course arrived we both took our first bite and immediately asked for the check, it was not edible at all. I felt horrible when I left because it was supposed to be a special birthday dinner, but we had to leave and eat elsewhere (which was cheaper and nicer). I was embarrassed and told my boyfriend to act like we never went to Legal Seafood and not to tell anyone that I took him there.
Great meal. Sorry they are closing.
We are from Boston MA and Legal Seafood was always the place to go for special occasions back home although my Mom went weekly for lunch with her brothers. I have lived in Georgia for 9 years now and moved Mom here over 3 years ago but only found out about the Atlanta Legal Seafood about a year ago and now they are closing.
I took Mom for her last hurrah and the food was good not great. I called a week prior trying to order her a 6 lb Lobster as I always do but that's a no go because they are closing so I ordered her the biggest the had which was only 1 1/2 lb and I ordered one to go which never came. They always give a little basket with a shell cracker, bib and hand wipes but not this time.
Our server was brand new and very nice but forgot almost everything we asked for.
This was a very nice place but because they are closing it seems no one cares about service there. It's a bit pricey but used to be very attentive to customers. Also lots of babies there on a Sunday night which was strange. Very sad to see them go. This visit let a lot to be desired.
We enjoyed our evening out with our friends at Legal Sea Food. We have heard that the Atlanta location is closing soon, and possibly relocating in another part of Atlanta. We will miss it being in it's current location downtown. It had been of our favorite stops over the past few years. Great food, and great service. BJ was out waiter this last time we visited.
Out of food ...made substitutions without asking . Although the waiter was prompt and courteous the food itself was below par. Tuna came out looking blanched rather than grilled ... just not the experience we have had with Legal Seafood in the past. They were out of many things ... including sides and some wines ... it made for a frustrating experience. It was busy, as it was the night of the SEC Championship, but contingency plans should have been in place to accommodate the crowd. Not a good experience.
Ok it was a busy night it was just ok
Unfortunately it is closing the middle of December
Not overly impressed
Shrimp and grits with braised greens was excellent. Attentive service, just right on a very busy evening.
Sort of disapointed in the food & service quality from my experience there compared to other similar rated seafood places. It was a pre-concert meal & the location is perfect for State Farm Arena. The Calimari was OK at best, too bready... to the point that the calamari wasn’t that noticable.
Was disappointed to hear Legal Seafood is closing in Atlanta. We thoroughly enjoy the food, ambience, and service. One of my favorite places to eat!
The food was not good at all. It was disappointing because legal seafood in Atlanta and Boston has always been one of our favorites. It took the server 20 minutes to bring us our check. I won’t go back to legal seafood Atlanta ever again.
My husband and two boys eat here every year since Bama has been playing in ATL. It is always our Friday night arrival place for dinner. WE LOVE IT and have never had a bad experience there. We have eaten with groups and just our family of four many times. However, this trip, the experience left much to be desired. We were greeted immediately and seated upon arrival. The restaurant was not crowded and so we were grateful for that. Wait staff appeared not quickly, but not lagging either. Orders were taken without any problems. My husband and I each had surf and turf, filet (his medium rare, mine medium) and lobster. Child's salmon and sweet potatoes and the other child ate my lobster and fries. The lobsters were fine. The steaks were horrible. They were well done and medium well but husband didn't want to send it back. He's fearful of all the horror stories of your food being tainted from angry wait and kitchen staff. The waiter thought I said "salad" not "salmon" so that was wrong and had to be corrected. He was either overly busy or really slow, because once the initial orders were done, he was hard to find at times. We even had one gentlemen stand over our table, waiting on the waiter to complete our order so he could ask him for their check. Another party of 4 adults beside us were there before we were and received their food way after ours. They were not happy either, to say the least. I am hoping that this was an isolated event, but I feel like this visit was very poor compared to what we have enjoyed in the past. I hate that too because we really do look forward to it. Besides the slow service and steaks that resembled Ryan's it was OK, but for 200$ I expect better.
This had been one of our favorite places to eat in Downtown Atlanta, now we won't be going back. The fabulous food and service has become another Appleby's (no offense to Appleby's).
the noise level made it impossible to enjoy our friends.
It is not a shock that this Legal Seafood is closing. The Legal Seafoods in Boston are outstanding. I have been to the Atlanta restaurant in years past and it was much better than it was last week. The food tasted bland, and the menu seemed to have been cut back from other locations. Our service was good, not great! It was a disappointment to bring someone who had never been to this location before as I would rate everything average.
Elton John concert
Poor food quality. Average service
Our server was a nice young lady but should NOT be working a busy restaurant on a weekend night. We had to order 3 different white wines before they had a bottle in stock, that should have told us to get up and leave. Then she brought the appetizer (oysters) before the wine and no silverware. It only got worse, someone else brought the entrée, my fish was hot but both side dishes obviously had sat and were room temp, had the manager come over and wine STILL NOT THERE. The manager was going to "take care" of the oysters for the dinner problems and guess what, yes when the bill came they were still on there. It was a bad night, busy for them but I would not go back and would NOT recommend it to anyone.
Was very Good, sorry to see it close on 12/18!!!!!
They are closing in Dec 2018 in Atlanta. We could tell from this final visit that the spark was gone because they announced the closing, something was missing but I loved being there anyway. Everyone was still nice and the bread was delicious as always, the menu had changed as well ( not a great as before and some of the options we passed on). The service was lovely. And they had a good crowd that night. We enjoyed some of our best meals and cocktails over the years here. Best wishes to everyone at the restaurant. We hope that all of the employees have been able to get other opportunities already. Thanks for the memories Legal Sea Foods, you will be missed.
We were provided great customer service. The atmosphere was pleasant and the food was great.
Not enough holiday choices
Service and food were good! The restaurant itself was a tad older an rundown. Definitely in need of a 'facelift', however, I read Legal Seafood was leaving Atl., so maybe that is why. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and our server. Thank you
I had an horrible experience. Waitress took forever and to take the order. I ended up leaving because that's not the type of service I would expect at a restaurant of this stature.
My family and I have been to this restaurant on Thanksgiving every year for the past 6 years. (other times as well, but Always on Thanksgiving), it has become a family tradition. The food is always excellent, and the service prompt and friendly.
I overheard a discussion during this last visit, that this location may be closing soon. I hope not.
I went on a Saturday and parked in the garage. It was quite laborious to get to the restaurant from the garage. They were out of fried oysters, which is what I wanted to order. The clams in the New England clam chowder were way too chewy. After chewing for a long time, I took them out of my mouth and put them on the plate. The waitress was kind enough not to charge me for it. The calamari was mediocre, it had too many of the spindly parts and not enough of the meaty parts.
Had been looking forward to some good seafood for a while. I read reviews before our visit which appeared pretty mixed but thought I would give it a shot anyway. The place is pretty cool and the atmosphere was good. My wife and I ordered the crab cakes and the "Grilled Assorted" which consisted of the chef's choice of three fish, shrimp, scallops, choice of two sides. The crab cakes were excellent (and should have been considering the price) $32 for 2. The Grilled Assorted however not so much. The fish was pretty much completely raw, the scallops were kind of gritty and the shrimp just o.k. As for the fish; if I wanted it raw I would have ordered sushi. For $74 (with 2 beers) not including the tip I expected much more.
We visited this restaurant for my Birthday, it use to be one of our favorite places to celebrate special occasions or to bring family visiting. But no more, the service was awful and they were out of beverages - beer!! Honestly considering the recent experience I could see why they are closing permanently. The food was still pretty decent so go if you must to get favorite meal before the close.
Food service was a bit slow, however the waitress was pretty good.
Excellent food. Excellent service.
Service and food not very good. Which is surprising because this is my third visit to this location and everything is normally good.
