We have eaten at Legal Seafood several times, and always enjoyed our meals. This time things were a little off. My wife's Moscato and my White Sangria were both good. We got the Lite clam chowder and it did not taste as good as when we're previously had it. The mashed sweet potatoes which we both got were very good. I was surprised that they were out of the crabmeat stuffed baked potato. How does any restaurant run out of potatoes and how does a seafood restaurant in DC run out of crabmeat? My wife got the sea scallops which she said were good. I got the seafood casserole which was disappointing. I did not taste any cheese in the casserole nor any sherry garlic butter. The bread crumbs were pretty tasteless. There was the promised piece of white fish, two shrimps, two scallops, and some lobster. But the bread crumbs overwhelmed the seafood and the seafood was not at peak flavor. We got the chocolate pudding cake for dessert which was very good, but I can't understand why most restaurants serve less than a full scoop of ice cream.
Absolutely amazing service and food. The lump crab dip scallops were the best we’ve ever had. The filet was so tender with amazing flavor. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone who comes to visit DC. Ask for Stephen he was an amazing server!!!!
Fish is consistently very good and very fresh. I have eaten here many times.
The food was delicious as always. I had the pecan crusted fish with mashed sweet potatoes and vegetable of the day, however the vegetable of the day was roasted butternut squash and while it was delicious, the plate was not visually pleasing as both sides were orange and both were starches which made that meal not nutritionally thought through.
Great food and adult beverages but very noisy. Reservation was necessary and they seated us early, which was fantastic. Waiter was very courteous and food was presented in a timely manner.
Very gluten free friendly.
Waited in bar for our table. Bartender never served us. When seated at table they were out of white sangria. Server was pushy are snarky.
Had 645 reservation. Not seated until 715. Not happy.
On our visit to DC we ate twice at Legal Seafood. We had a great lunch once - all four of us loved our entrees - crab cakes, salmon and vegetable sides were very nicely cooked. And a fabulous dinner - two had the seafood combo, a special of rockfish and the garlic shrimp pasta. Everyone was very happy. We enjoyed the Sancerre so much for lunch we had it again for dinner.
We had a great meal again and our waiter was great
Great food, very attentive waiter, overall memorable experience!!
We always book one dinner at Legal Seafood when visiting DC. We go for the fresh seafood, impeccably prepared, and courteous service, and are never disappointed. When you ask to substitute a vegetable or side dish for the one listed, the response is always "sure" (said with a smile - imagine that!). We always start with the creamy New England clam chowder. On this visit, we had swordfish with red onion jam and sherried mushrooms - delicious! Our waiter, Nadim, was friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
This was my first experience at Legal Sea Foods with three others who are long-time lovers of this restaurant. I am DEFINITELY on board with them. Everything was fantastic: the food, ambiance, and service. The best meal that I have had in a while. In fact, we’re planning on going back for dinner tomorrow night as well.
Too much breading in casserole
Crab cakes undone
They are exceptional in dealing with food issues (celiac/gluten free or others). The food is general excellent and simply prepared and high quality.
Great food. Great atmosphere. Lousy service. Forgot drinks twice. Asked for drink menu after appetizers never came. Forgot soda twice for one of the guests. Food was slow. Would return but service was off.
Bang Bang cauliflower was tasty. My crab cakes were good. I had ordered the tuna steak and they were out.
Everyone enjoyed their meal. My husband complained the dessert portion of ice cream was small. It was 3 tiny scoops.
My crab cake platter was excellent, and my friend liked her tuna burger, which is what she said she always orders there.
Food was cold. Our server was not very attentive. My husband ordered soup and was never brought to him. Had to have another server bring it after my sister and I had finished ours. Also only got second request for bread from another server. Had to request vegetables for meal.
Have been here before and wanted to give it another try. This visit worse than last.
So many gluten free options, including freshly-baked rolls!
Awesome dinner! The service and food was excellent!
The hot crab dip.......was out of this world. I would recommend making reservations, especially if you’re visiting DC on the weekend. They’re located across street from the Verizon Center.
We usually only dine at Legal Sea Foods 7th Street location when we are attending an event at Capital One Arena. It's consistently above average every time we go no matter what we order. The servers have always been super helpful when I'm having a hard time deciding on a dish to order. And they're never wrong. Their recommendations are spot on. I highly recommend eating here but if there is an event happening on the same night you will definitely need a reservation.
Wonderful restaurant with good service and excellent food.
Selection is very good the swordfish was wonderful.
Everything was very good.
I would highly recommend this place. Great food, great environment.
We were disappointed to learn that the fried whole belly clams were not on the menu.
Food was very good, highly recommend pecan encrusted snapper. Waitstaff excellent.
Everything was excellent. We both ordered the Chef’s sampler (its called something like that) and everything was cooked perfectly! I ordered the dark chocolate mousse for dessert and it was the best mousse I’ve had. Finn (sorry if I’ve misspelled your name) was our server and Was lovely.
Food was delicious, service was prompt and very friendly.
This restaurant was recommended by our hotel concierge as a place to eat good seafood. The place was alive and vibrant, the service was excellent and the food was fabulous! The menu was so inviting that we had a difficult time choosing what to order. Will definitely visit again next time we are in town
Food was great.
The A/C blew on us to the point we had to eat in our coats. The manager said that was just the way it was. He could have cared less.
Great time from someone who remembers the original restaurant in Cambridgeport, MA.
Very good service and food, with a friendly staff.
This is a chain of really great seafood restaurants. They are always good wherever you go. It is a shame that there are none in New York City.
We had a very nice dinner at Legal Sea Foods in downtown DC. The fish courses were tasty and fresh, and the vegetable done quite nicely. The only disappointment was the jasmine rice, which was dry and hard in some grains and tasted like it had been left in a warming drawer too long.
Service was pleasant and attentive. Wine list had a number of excellent choices for seafood friendly wines at a moderate price.
We were seated promptly at our reservation time and a chilled bottle of wine and a bread basket followed quickly. My pecan crusted snapper was absolutely delicious with mashed sweet potatoes and a side of butternut squash. My husband ordered the fresh sea scallops blackened but when they arrived, they seemed to be pan fried. Nevertheless, he enjoyed his meal but was a little disappointed about the scallops. Service was wonderful and we were very impressed by our server who checked in frequently and had a great sense of humor.
Great food and service. Will be back!
Phan was attentive and pleasant as always. The crab cake is one of my favorite dishes and never disappoints. It was my first time trying the crab stuffed backed potato which was very good but needed more crab.
My husband and I had an excellent meal. The server was very knowledgeable and friendly. We felt taken care of. The food was amazing and portion sizes were appropriate. We had a great experience.
I came with my two grandchildren before a show and we felt very comfortable. The kids meals were nice, as were the adult meals. The room is very noisy. Bathrooms very clean.
I came to D.C. and this place was recommended to me by one of the locals. My wife and I loved it and the service. I returned to D.C. the next week and had to come again due to the fabulous food and service. Well worth the trip!
