The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish.
Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. A bipartisan favorite, we have occupied the nation’s capital since 1995, anchored across from the Verizon Center and around the corner from the International Spy Museum, National Portrait Gallery and Chinatown.

Make waves at our racetrack-shaped bar or sup on seafood underneath the hull-like ceiling in our restaurant’s main dining room. Either way, be presidential and order a cup of our New England Clam Chowder; it’s been served at every Inauguration since 1981. Other accolades include being named “#1 Best Seafood Restaurant” in a nationwide poll by USA Today (2013).

I came with my two grandchildren before a show and we felt very comfortable. The kids meals were nice, as were the adult meals. The room is very noisy. Bathrooms very clean.

I came to D.C. and this place was recommended to me by one of the locals. My wife and I loved it and the service. I returned to D.C. the next week and had to come again due to the fabulous food and service. Well worth the trip!

Only disappointment was that we had to wait fifteen minutes even though we had a reservation

Service was great. My food taste fine. My spouse however didnt seem to be in a good mood for enjoying the food and cinstantly complianed. The server went above and beyond and was professional. One of the managers who came over multiple times did his best tobplease, and the chef rocked. Thank you for your patience and professionalism. You were marvelous and I am grateful. Thank you for removing her food cost, which wasnt necessary. I tried to leave a larger tip to compensate.

The service was excellent. The restaurant GM was so aware of what was going on and was aware of the needs of every table, as well as our waiter. We went there on our first night of a three night stay and went back the third night because we enjoyed the food and service so much.

The waitress was excellent.
They did not have what I had ordered from the menu, and I always get the same thing when I go there. It's lobster, crab and shrimp on a hot dog roll. The waitress came back and said they could not make it that day, So I ordered a Shrimp casserole and it was not very good at all. I also ordered Mussels for an appetizer and they were the smallest mussels I have ever seen.
My granddaughter got a Caesar salad with salmon and that was very good.

I was extremely disappointed with the food. Every other time I have been there, everything was great.
The waitress went to the manager and he offered a free dessert. I assumed it was for two desserts since I was with my 9-year old granddaughter. They said it was only for one.
I think the manager should have come to my table to speak with me but he did not make that effort. There are a lot of choices in D.C. for good food. I will go elsewhere in the future.

Last minute decision to celebrate a friends promotion & attend the Wizards basketball ball game. Initial restaurant 30-40 minute delay and 4 blocks.
Very accommodating staff and chef.
Only negative item-bland, diluted cream of crab soup.
Otherwise great food & the Wizards won two consecutive games!

Always good experience. Had a reservation for 6:45pm and they didn't seat until 7pm. I asked for trout on the menu and they had run out. The substitute was good but not atop notch experience from what I typically expect from this chain.

Our Service and our table were fantastic. The food wasn’t as good as I had expected. The cream of crab soup had a very good taste, but hardly any crab meat. The snapper fish was just ok. My daughter had the cod fish, and said it tasted like ammonia. Very nice atmosphere though, and located just across the street from the hockey game we were attending, I’m going to just chalk it up to them maybe having a bad night. I did enjoy the restaurant , and would try it again, albeit with lower expectations.

Love Legal Seafood! I usually order the crabcake which never disappoints. Friends have ordered other seafood items and have always been happy with their food. Last 2 times I've gone, our server has been Finn. She is wonderful! Very helpful and friendly.

I love Legal Seafoods. Originally from Cape Cod, I was pleased I didn't have to travel all the way to Massachusetts for a seafood experience. The server was extremely knowledgeable of both the menu and specials and very charming. There was a reasonable amount of time between appetizers which is expected but doesn't always occur at restaurants. There was no rush in the service for table turnover. Two guests really enjoyed the barbecue shrimp. I ordered the seafood casserole. Now remember, I'm born and raised on Cape Cod. There were two scallops, one or two shrimp, a bit of fish and a "rubbery lobster claw." Disappointing in the pallet. All of these succulent morsels of seafood then the hard, plastic sensation of dull lobster. For $29, I suggest avoiding the lobster claw thumb to compliment this casserole. From the lovely crust, buttery sauce and flavorful dish, the lobster left a bad taste in my mouth.
