Special dinner with my two sisters. Wonderful food!
Expensive, but food is great
Found this gem while working in Boston. Now I try to go every time I’m back. Great service, fantastic food.
Very creative menu, excellent service, great that Legal Seafood does these variations rather than just duplicating one theme!
Met a friend for Sunday brunch. Parking had me worried as I know this is located in a residential neighborhood but found a spot right out front. Place was very quiet with only 2 other tables. Menu was varied and prices were reasonable. Service was attentive and food was very good. Nothing not to like. Would definitely be back.
My family was in town and we stopped in for dinner at one of their favorite places, Legal Seafoods. Shortly after we got in, business started to pick up, but that didn’t effect things for us at all. Our server, Natasha, was fantastic. Her recommendations were excellent. The staff always does well at accommodating some of the dietary restrictions we have, which we are very grateful for! Of course we will be back!
I’ll address with management
Highly recommended. This place doesn’t have the typical Legal menu. Definitely worth it
Great value, wonderful meal and outstanding service!
My server and the manager were so friendly. The food was outstanding. What a gem this place is!
Not Gluten free like the other legal restaurants but Tyne chef and staff made every effort too make it work for our celiac guest.
It was just ok. I don't know what I was expecting but I guess this wasn't it. My pasta bolognese had a nice sauce but the noodles were a little soft for my liking. I like it a little more al dente. It's more bar scene than restaurant. I think it's quite popular with the locals so maybe I need to give it another try. Went before the Celtics game which is why we chose it.
We came in for dinner to celebrate a birthday. Service was great! We wanted to take our time and our server, Polly, knew just that. We had what we wanted when we needed it and we had a great dinner. Also, the kitchen was very accommodating in some dietary restrictions we had. The food was delicious as always!
Great mid-afternoon lunch. Excellent chowder & the scallops were perfect.
The food was delicious but it was made even better by the service.
If you are lucky enough to get Nick as your server your night will be made.
Accommodating service and excellent food, which is consistent on every visit. I enjoy the prosciutto wrapped salmon. It's crispy on the outside and tender inside and a generous but not overwhelming portion perfectly cooked. I substituted the brussels sprout and apple salad that accompanies the salmon for the roasted brussels sprouts with manchego cheese. The sprouts are so good I usually have a side as an appetizer. Highly recommended.
We took our 2 children , their spouses and our grandchild there for dinner. The service was very good, waitress was attentive and realized that because we had our young granddaughter with us we wanted a quick dinner. The menu choices were great, clam chowder very good and Greek salads with shrimp were excellent.
We would definitely go back again.
I always enjoy going to different Legals Seafood restaurants around Boston as the menus are different. This Legals has excellent pizzas and an interesting mixture of small plates and entrees, along with fresh oysters that can be served raw or cooked in 3 different ways. Service was competent and very good also. Highly recommendable!
We showed up late for a quick dinner. Food and service was great! Thank you!
There were 20 to 30 small flies on the wall next to where we were seated. That was a big turnoff. We probably will not return.
Good option for nice dinner in Charlestown. Unfortunately, our waitress was quite slow and inexperienced. It took her 15 minutes to come over to ask for drinks. Later, she read from the menu what the oyster selections were. She was slow to refill drinks, seemed overall disinterested. This made the actual dining experience not great.
We go there all the time, usually sit in the back (quieter). The food is always very good and the service is excellent. If it's cold and windy outside the front of the restaurant is uncomfortable.
Great setting and good. Servers were excellent.
Do not let the idea of a local chain sway you, Legal is the best seafood in town. The Oysteria is hardly just oysters, but fantastic large fresh fish dishes, pasta and a large wine list. Tha ambiance is perfect for the neighborhood and food type. We went to celebrate the birth of our baby boy and they staff went the extra mile. We will be regulars.
All around terrific.
Great food, server and ambiance. Staff could not be sweeter. Chef came to our table and was lovely. warm and sophisticated atmosphere (not easy to get both). Our 5th or 6th time here, and like the last times, it was a great experience. Need to head back just to dine and watch a game at the bar!
Shout out to Colin and Alex who are wonderful!!!
Legal Oysteria is in the neighborhood and we have been before and been happy with it. It is not a “fine dining” establishment but is upscale-casual with a large bar, televisions, as well as banquet seating. Our meal last night was disappointing in so many ways. Our group of four was greeted and seated promptly by the welcoming host and hostess. The problems then fell into two categories: Service and food. The service was not good. Our server was very slow to get back to us after bringing a cocktail to one member of the group. We were deciding on wine and it took 10-15 minutes for her to return to take the wine order. By that time we were also quite hungry and ready to place our food order. The restaurant was NOT busy at all. She did not seem familiar with the wine menu and had to come over and look at the wine we were ordering and then copy it down. It was not an issue of pronunciation on our part. When the (white) wine was brought to the table she then proceeded to pour the wine into LARGE red wine glasses - some of the largest we had ever seen - at probably close to 8 oz a pour. We were a bit shocked! She proceeded to tell us that small wine glasses are used for those who order wine-by-the-glass and large wine glasses for those who order a bottle. One can connect the sales and profit dots from there. Refills of water were either slow or not forthcoming. Main courses appeared when we were still eating first courses; one diner was asked to move his empty first course plate himself so the server could set down the main. Seriously? Of the food, the spaghetti squash appetizer had way too much going on, including too much nutmeg. The pizza crust was not crisp; swordfish was okay; tuna was great. With all of the dining options in Boston, given the issues we encountered and the overall quality of the food, a return trip is really not warranted as we do not see the value. Not bitter; just wouldn’t bother to return.
The charred octopus was truly amazing.
Great food, everyone loved their meal!
We always enjoy legal oysteria. Lyle at the bar always is welcoming and makes the experience that much better. Thank you Lyle for making the bar so much fun!
We were visiting Boston and decided to try this Legals. We have eaten at many other locations. This restaurant was very small but very busy. The bar was completely filled and all the tables were filled by the time we left. The waitress was extremely busy but managed to make sure we had great service and were not ignored. I had the clam linguini which was excellent with lots of fresh clams. Not overly flavored and not bland.
Morgan was great! Air conditioning was very cold although Morgan asked to adjust it a little which worked for most of the meal.
Look the atmosphere and crab cakes I know the chickpea has been on the menu for awhile but it is way to lumpy won't order it again
Great ambiance, food and service. My only complaint is that the portions were too big. We're more the "small plate" type diners, and would have been happy with less on the plates. Would definitely go back, just order a little wiser.
We enjoyed our meal a lot. A real neighbourhood gem.
Always great food and menu for a Legal! The Oysters are great and of course the fish entree. This Legal also has a number of non seafood menu items. Great Bar and TVs to watch a game.
legal oysteria is a little different then other legal seafoods. The menu is smaller but very good. Great Italian based wine list. Neighborhood type place. Nice bar with good sports coverage
I no longer enjoy the bar scene-the front room is incredibly noisy. Request the back room if you want to be able to talk.
We enjoyed a lovely meal with excellent wine and service. I did notice that this particular Legal does not offer as many gluten free choices as others do; in particular the gluten free chowder and rolls that are a favorite.
I had a friend in town and we needed a lunch/brunch situation. i checked on open table and from there we found legal osteria. it's a half mile from my house . over we went and had a delicious breakfast: eggs/ hash browns / toast. and a glass of wine and bloody mary. the waitress, Sabrina, was awesome. very informative. we had a lovely brunch and continued out day. Have been here for dinner and their dinner menu is awesome.
Love the restaurant, food is great, servers are great and helpful.
