Legal Oysteria’s menu showcases the freshness and purity of its seafood offerings and other ingredients. Preparations are simple and authentic. A brick oven (with pizza oven and rotisserie) informs the menu. There are options for those who choose to table share or prefer more traditional coursed dining. Our bar program was designed to complement the cuisine. By tradition, an osteria is casual, comfortable and accessible and Legal Oysteria aspires to afford that same experience.
We are located along the Freedom Trail, overlooking City Square Park, and close to landmarks in Charlestown, including the USS Constitution Museum and Bunker Hill Monument. We are also in walking distance to the TD Garden.

Great service and salmon perfectly cooked!
Very very very bad dining experience. We were a large party (12) with 3 children (ages 1 to 6). In brief, we sat down at the table at 1:00PM; we were served our food at 2:57PM. By that point, the kids were in pain and screaming!!
To top all of that, the servers were unprofessional and clumsy, the manager non-existent, and after several complains, the manager shows up to ask "How is everything?" with no apology or attempt to explain what was going on.
This experience was so bad, i would not visit this restaurant again, and I would not even go to any of the restaurants under the Legal Seafood group (and we used to go to a Legal at least once a week!)
What a shame!!
The salmon and shrimp and pasta dishes were excellent. Great place. We will be back.
fresh shrimp, grilled octopus, steamed muscles and crabcakes...all perfectly prepared and served. We visited twice during our 3 dat stay in Boston...its that good
Oysters...octupus....crabcakes et al all on point....highly recommended
Our waiter (Nelson) was very good and helpful with allergies. Seafood was great. Definitely a re-visit next time we're in Boston. The charred octopus appetizer was AWESOME!
Upscale but casual restaurant. Food and service were terrific. I recommend the Osso Bucco. It was a tender, huge portion of pork shank that was served with polenta and spinach. It is walking distance to TD Garden.
Service was not good. It took our waitress 15 min to ask us for our drink order and the entire dinner was an hour and 45 min ordeal. Between her inattentiveness and time it took to take the order, our meal was very delayed. We will not be going back to Legal Oysteria.
Our party of 6 had a great time recently. Delicious drinks (including the wine flights) and even better food. Really good service. Look forward to our next meal there.
We've been here a few times and are never dissapointed. The seafood is fresh and cooked perfectly. Our waitress Natasha was knowledgeable and charming. My only mild criticism is the unimaginative interior although it does have great ceiling height and wonderful huge windows.
Not to be confused with the Legal “chain” although I liked the originals in Somerville and Forrest Hills ( the airports, not so much) Same ownership but a true neighborhood restaurant. Great seafood & attentive service. Always fun.
The food is always so tasty and the staff really makes you feel like family. We keep coming back!
Awesome server, awesome tuna burger and onion strings. Great location.
I was a great fun and regular customer of Legal Seafood ... but I will never go again in this location. Super cold inside due to AC too low and the linguini pasta was horrible: no taste, lot of water in the plate, bad seafood inside... not even close to the pictures they show on open table. Moreover, the host (not very friendly) asked us to wait 20 min and as soon as we got a drink at the bar she came to us and told us that the table was ready (BTW, the restaurant was half empty).... snicky way to pay for a drink. Well..... good luck with this place!
We ate at Legal Oysteria twice during our 4 night stay in Charlestown, it was close to our hotel and offered excellent food. The servers were friendly and genuine. Would definitely come again.
We are staying close to the restaurant and knew we would be able to walk from our hotel. We had an amazing experience here and can’t wait to come back!
First time to Oysteria for dinner. Have had lunch many times. Always enjoyable and great food. Server was welcoming and engaging throughout.
We live down the street and had dinner with kids
Food and atmosphere were excellent . We will be back
Colin the GM came by and was so nice. Always a great experience when we come here!
Food and service are always top notch. On this occasion we sampled the wines from Argentina and found one to be truly exquisite and very reasanbly prices.
Everything, down to the smallest details, was absolutely perfect for a post graduation lunch! The highlight of his experience were the employees who made this experience fun, easy, and enjoyable.
At first I didn’t think it was going to go well. The bartenders were surely in no hurry and we had to wait too long for our first drinks. But the kitchen made up for it. Oysters - excellent. Shrimp cocktail - excellent. Pepperoni pizza - superb. Shrimp Gremolata - excellent. Trout - excellent. Shrimp linguine Alfredo - excellent. Rosemary potatoes to die for. Definitely recommend this place!
It's a wonderful place..great ambiance, great food, and wonderful staff.
Sat at the bar and had fantastic service!
Started out the a great watermelon cocktail. I had the tuna crudo as my meal, which is always delicious with the truffle chips. I've had the pizzas, fish dished, bolognese, and it's all good. Service is also excellent!
Awesome staff-table was available and ready for us - we were not rushed - lovely time
Loved this restaurant! Very creative dishes! We were on a week-long vacation in Boston, Cape Cod and Newport and we all thought this was the best dinner of the week! Nice and convenient to our hotel. A relaxed environment!
We had a great time celebrating Mother’s Day and both of our sons’ graduations from Med School and from Emerson College. We are oyster lovers and very much enjoyed their great selection of oysters. We keep coming back to this great restaurant.
We were a little disappointed that the menu was limited to brunch with few seafood options
The food was great, and the service up to par and the restaurant concept really good
Terrific clam chowder and their crab cake is my very favorite!
The services is always good and the food is great with great prices.
The fish was well cooked but the sauces and accompaniments were overdone. The fish was often drowned in too many flavors and too many sauces.
The service was excellent and all of the food (oysters, chowder, papadelle) was outstanding. Relaxed atmosphere. I will be back!
excellent bite before the game. Easy walking distance to the garden.
Great food and service. Attentive but not hovering. Our server Natasha provided exquisite attention. The food spoke for itself. The seared scallops special was divine. Will definitely return.
The food was good as usual. The service was also good and prompt. A happy interior.
had a great meal pre-Bruins game. Each entree ordered/served were different and complements all around.
My scallops were cooked perfectly and the risotto was delicious. My company had a salmon and veggie combo that was wonderful and a shrimp with gremalata that he raced about. A lovely night
