Legal Oysteria’s menu showcases the freshness and purity of its seafood offerings and other ingredients. Preparations are simple and authentic. A brick oven (with pizza oven and rotisserie) informs the menu. There are options for those who choose to table share or prefer more traditional coursed dining. Our bar program was designed to complement the cuisine. By tradition, an osteria is casual, comfortable and accessible and Legal Oysteria aspires to afford that same experience.
We are located along the Freedom Trail, overlooking City Square Park, and close to landmarks in Charlestown, including the USS Constitution Museum and Bunker Hill Monument. We are also in walking distance to the TD Garden.
Need to book at 9:45 AM?Other great restaurants with availability.
The service and food were amazing. My daughter had the Linguine with clams and I had the tuna steak. Both were the best we ever had. The wine was delicious and totally not overcharged like some restaurants. I will go back many times.
Great service and great drinks and good once again!
Awesome food and service
I highly recommend this Legals. We enjoyed the food, the ambience and had a great server. We will definitely go back there.
Early dinner at 5:30p resulted in great service, and not loud. Streamed mussels and eggplant parm appetizers were excellent. The special, crab covered baked cod, was drenched in butter. I’m a big fan of butter, but even too much for me. Overall a good experience, will try again.
Great neighborhood gem that we frequent all the time. Seafood is very good and the pasta is made on the premises. In addition to an open dining concept, the bar is expansive and inviting. Super bartender who really knows her drinks and her customers.
The food is akwYs excellent as is the service! Our neighborhood favorite!!
Legal Seafood is usually very reliable. This was a big disappointment. The warm burrata appetizer barely had any burrata and the halibut entree was slightly overcooked and bland. Very disappointing.
Waiter was lovely but needs more table side training.
Drinks needed to come before 40 minutes. Ditto surrounding tables.
Wine flight was stingy, no lime in Cape Codder first serve. Second serve Delivered in slices not wedges.
Food not up to usual. No manager around.
Tuna was excellent
Love this place.Consistently great dining.
Love this local restaurant. Always fantastic. Highly recommend
Lovely place to eat--would be even lovelier without the large televisions over the bar. Our server was charming and the place felt warm. Terrific food. A lot to love. Only drawbacks--large televisions and more noise than expected..
Everything was excellent from my cocktail, to the turkey dinner and the dessert. We were a little disappointed there was no pumpkin pie as it was Thanksgiving Day but the ricotta pie was excellent. Our server Sabrina was very attentive and answered our questions very knowledgeably.
Great neighborhood gem!
Food and cocktails are absolutely outstanding! Second time here and the bloody Mary's are the best I've ever had. My girlfriend and I went here for our anniversary and she had a Sangria and it was also the best Sangria I've ever had. I had the shrimp and scallop risotto and it was great (great portion, decent amount of shrimp and scallops). Value (prices are low I would say for the ambiance of the restaurant) is also very good -- I would highly recommend and will definitely be back.
Greasy food. Octopus was has overcooked. I do not recommend.
They were out of the the type of tequila necessary to make one of their signature drinks so I ordered another tequila drink that was very weak. I’ve been there several times and it’s not the first time they’ve skimped on the alcohol. When I asked for more alcohol, they charged me an additional $12.25 for a shot of tequila. My drink cost a total of $25.25 for a drink that still didn’t have any effect on me. Makes me think that they may use water in their booze??? Food is typical Legal quality. Good but won’t be drinking more than beer and wine next time, if O go again.
Great food, great service. The relaxed vibe of this place and open concept is so welcoming. Definitely will return to try more dishes, especially the surf and turf ravioli. The raw and baked oysters were fresh and delicious. Ricotta pie was exceptional. Service was well-timed and friendly. Thanks, Charles!
Very hospitable staff, great food - we all precisted that they were so accommodating while we waited for late members to our party
Our favorite restaurant in Charlestown. Consistently good.
Good oysters and shrimp!! Friendly staff. Fun and tasty drinks!
Our food was fantastic. My wife had the stuffed trout and I had the Linginune ... Del Mar We also had some oysters from Maine
food was delicious! We shared scallops with capers and mushrooms which were perfectly done and so good I could have licked the plate! We also shared a combo of oysters. I had grilled salmon on a bed of asparagus with fennel grapefruit salad and my husband had a baked combo of scallops and shrimp. Both meals were cooked exactly as they should. I asked for rare salmon and that is what I got. Perfecto! We shared a chocolate pudding with caramel and it was heaven! Not too sweet, the just right amount of caramel was thin, sweet and buttery .
Night out with wife and kids. The service and atmosphere were great. The waiter was excellent. Drinks were very good. The food was subpar ; I expected better from Legal Oysteria.
Very good as usual
Pretty tasty. The oysters were delicious and our food was pretty good. Our waiter was wonderful. The seasonal cocktails, especially the maple cranberry old fashioned were absolutely amazing!
Love this place.
I go here often and I took 5 other people for dinner ranging in ages 7-90. It was not crowded, but was agonizingly slow and the food was not up to usual standard. Everything was so slow. We finally had to ask the hostess to get our check. No one had cleared the table or asked if we wanted dessert. Extremely disappointing!
Something for everyone, would go back.
Our waitress was excellent and everything came out as ordered. She was informative and quick to offer suggestions so that we were not disappointed when the food came. She checked in on us and was very friendly - one of the best Legals waitresses I've had in a long time!
Good service friendly people first time coming.... We will come again and visit... When we come back to Boston.
One of my favorite restaurants. Food is great and they are wonderful with dietary restrictions.
Amazing thank you Sabrina! We loved you! Everything was great especially chef Curtis’ hollandaise. #HollandaiseMakesMyEggsTasteNice
Love Legal Oysteria! This is a go to place for myself and co-workers a few times a week.
Amazing seafood, pleasant atmoshpere and friendly service
Service was attentive but not hovering. Food suggestions were great. Server even brought an extra dessert for us to try and it was amazing! Legal Oysteria is one of our top 5 restaurants and was perfect for this occasion. We will be back! Often.
Found plastic in my food. Returned two other dishes because they weren’t really good. They offered a free dessert despite a big piece of plastic
Outstanding service. A little cool inside but great fried oysters
Very good food and very good waiter named Boris!!!!
My husband is very fond of Legal Oysteria where he lunches often with a friend. They always have oysters. This time our N C son was with us- the friend is in France for the summer - and we had a lovely dinner. Good service, great food, quiet at 7 PM on a summer Sunday, but enough customers to entertain us. Keep up the good work. This version of Legal Seafood is very much more gemutlik than the Waterfront one, in my opinion. Maybe size does matter. Also, easy to walk of indiscretions on our way home to Burroughs Wharf. Keep up the good work. Missed the Wellfleet oysters but liked the Goose(?) ICoos?) Bay ones we had. Elizabeth
