Legal on the Mystic
Legal on the Mystic takes its design direction from the early industrial development that occurred at Assembly Square. By using materials such as steel pipes, metal mesh, steel, concrete and brick, the space takes on an industrial feel reminiscent of the history. The expo kitchen serves as a backdrop to the restaurant, while the bar is the focus. Large garage doors allow for open air dining and entry to a riverside patio that’s topped by a 20’ tulip umbrella.

Service was excellent and food was delicious. Legal is exceptionally good at making certain special dietary needs are strictly addressed in food preparation.
Well I've being there once before and the food was delicious. I don't know what happened this time around but food was not good. Mashed potatoes were dry and the shrimp plate dry. Presentation for the dishes was child's play.
Food was wack. Waitress was mean. Forgot my food to go and went outside, when I returned 2mins later they trashed it. I mean it was new food I ordered for my friend. They didn't even save it for a few hours or so. It was in a to go bag🤷♀️
Food was fabulous! Everyone was happy with their meal and loved the ambience despite it being a cold and rainy day. Was especially impressed with the service. We were seated on time for our reservation and they had enough staff so we never had to wait for service despite it being Mother’s Day.
We went here for Mother's Day 2019, and mind you, 3 out of 4 of my children were with me, plus my own mother and father. My youngest is a toddler, and so much of her food ends up on the floor🤦 despite my feeble attempts at preventing such🤷♀️ and they were so gracious and so wonderful on a busy day, and very full.🙏 Thankfully, so were we...🙌
Fabulous manager and waitress! It was very crowded on Mother’s Day so even with a reservation we had to wait 15 minutes. The manager apologized and brought us a complimentary appetizer and we were pleasantly surprised.
Great service and great food. Waiter was excellent.
This is one of our favorite and most reliable local spots. The raw bar is always excellent; together with a salad and an assortment of appetizers, you can have a substantial and wholesome dinner without ever getting to the main menu. But that's only one of many options. The dinner specials are always worth a look: they change frequently and are often thoughtful and creative. The wine list is pricey but offers excellent selections. This variation on the Legal Seafoods model strikes a nice balance between casual dining and elegant, special occasion-worthy food.
Our dinner at Legal in Somerville was perfect. The service was quick and friendly, our booth by the window was great and the food was absolutely impeccable! I can’t waiy to go back and try other delicious items on their fast menu.
We had a great experience. Food was good. Large quantities
I had a bad stomach ache after I finished the food. I guess the amount of oils used in the cook was so much.
Out waitress Gabby was excellent ! Every restaurant should have someone like her on staff to act as an ambassador! The food was vey good with the exception of the crab cake which was not cooked all the way through and a bit grainy. Drinks were very nice and the wine flight with the meal was the way to go.
Josh L is the best server ever. The food was good but the tomato broth in my dish was a little cold.
Nice evening out with friends. Good food and drinks.
Food quality does not match price
Great seafood and service on a busy Saturday night.
Our server was outstanding. Out food was delicious. We got the clam pizza, calamari, shrimp tacos, crab dip and a Caesar salad. Everything was fresh so good. Still my favorite legal.
No silverware was brought over, no bread, had to ask for both after at least 15 minutes of sitting. Server very nice ( male) but maybe new and not with it AT ALL. Food was very good, waited a VERY long time for the food. Not the experience we are used to. This happens almost every single time when sitting in the booths near the kitchen in the back and I don’t think it’s a coincidence. Maybe they place new servers there.
Came the next night ( Friday) and our server was outstanding. ( female)
Perfect - we travel ladies meet there whenever we have a get together - we always get that great table like a big square - we are usually 10- easy to get to, easy to park - good food reliable and great staff
Food and service excellent.
I just love the food in all of the Legal restaurants! It’s always delish!!!
Will return to try other dishes. Crab cake and Tuna Burger were both delicious and well prepared.
Great restaurant and wonderful service.
The manager is excellent!
My boyfriend and I come here pretty often, our favorite date night is dinner here followed by a movie at AMC. We always start off with the red sangria, a crab cake and he gets 6 oysters. When we came in, I saw that there spring menu had come out and there was a new watermelon sangria on there. I asked our server Lauren about it and she gave a great description of it so I ordered one instead of my usual red. It was absolutely delicious! It was nice and refreshing, a bit sweeter than the red but was far from the sugar bomb I was afraid it might be. I ended up ordering a second one.
Per usual, the crab cakes were amazing and my boyfriend sucked down all 6 oysters with no complaints! I got a caesar salad as my main course and he got the lobster roll, both of which came out great.
Lauren was so sweet and attentive, we very much enjoyed having her as our server.
Everything was excellent
Food was very good, waitress forgot to put an entree in, and was apologetic, and offered to get us something in the meantime while we waited, which we declined. We were charged for everything, even for two soft drinks after the missed entree. The least that could have happened was a comped beverage.
Overpriced. I got the fish and chips, which was mostly fries and onion rings with two small pieces of fish. Others at my table complained of same thing. Service was also very slow. Must be why it was sort of empty on a Sunday. Disappointed.
We have gone to Legals for years in NY and Boston. As always the food was very good and service was excellent. A little disappointed that Legals has removed their Lite Chowder from some of their restaurants. This happens to be one of the locations.
We were sat 15 mins. after the scheduled reservation time
Slow getting meals. Food not good.
We were celebrating a late birthday for my mother after a girls day getting mani/pedis. We both ordered lobster rolls with butter and fries. The lobster meat however was a little tough thinking it was over cooked.
Everything is good except my son's lobster bake which the clams, mussels and steamers are cold even they were layered at the bottom, the sausage was chewey, so my son only consumed the lobster, and th e corn from the whole order.
Our server, Janet tell was as awesome as Justin...so far the other orders were perfectly prepared and cook as usual..We still will come back
Great for family. Our foursome included an 18mo, so we appreciated that the restaurant seated us promptly. We had a reservation, and glad we did since the place is popular. We had a great spot facing the Mystic River, and at the end near the wall with ample room to move about. Server was excellent: she made recommendations and was cheerful and attentive. She couldn't have been nicer to our toddler, bringing crayons and a covered sippy cup with straw. As is always the case with Legal, the seafood was delicious, quickly served, and good proportions. The free parking at Assembly Row is a nice bonus. Highly recommend.
We had the greatest time! Our server was absolutely amazing. Very informative about menu selections
Food good as usual and our waiter was really great. I will say that the kitchen was very slow. It took forever to get our food between courses. We had a really early reservation at 5:15 and didn't finish until 7:30.
Always a pleasure to dine at my favorite Legal.
It was nice to visit a new location.
Not very accessible for people on walkers. My mother cannot do stairs and the only level access to the restaurant is right at the curb. Very busy corner there, so it took to drives around. No Sushi menu, House Chardonnay is over priced. Gluten Free rolls were burned and “Blackened Salmon” was overdone. Disappointed in regards to the food, but the ambience inside is nice. Big space but they did a good job on noise canceling.
I’m a customer since the opening, I always had good time there, the food is high standard, but the last time I went there we had a such good time, everything is good until a got home and received a email from open table, about NO SHOW, really, it’s make me very upset, somebody screwed they job and a have to deal with this situation. My waitress was Luciano, he did a good job. I eat out a lot and I always respect reservation, I have a lots friends they working at restaurant I know how this works very well. I was disappointed with the services, I hope it’s not happening anymore with any customer, it’s no nice at all. For sure I’ll take s break from this place. 😐
I like a menu thats has picture of food because I like to try new food
