Legal on the Mystic
Legal on the Mystic takes its design direction from the early industrial development that occurred at Assembly Square. By using materials such as steel pipes, metal mesh, steel, concrete and brick, the space takes on an industrial feel reminiscent of the history. The expo kitchen serves as a backdrop to the restaurant, while the bar is the focus. Large garage doors allow for open air dining and entry to a riverside patio that’s topped by a 20’ tulip umbrella.

No complaints at al. From the minute we walked in the door tio our waitress was awesome. Did was delicious
Perfect place during Covid customers can seat outside or in with large opened windows for ventilation
The whole place was quiet and peaceful. I feel safe of the setup. The menu seems limited compared to the last time I was there before the pandemic.
Overall excellence! Felt very safe dining indoors. Tables spaced apart and high ceilings made us feel very comfortable with our choice to dine at Legal’s!
The waiter was great, but the menu no longer had what we wanted and there were no heat lamps outside.
I made reservations for Birthday dinner for a friend. We had Nickie as our waitress, she was dynamite! It was my friends first time to Legal and was so impressed.
Was upset that outdoor seating did not have outdoor heater - concerned with with coming inside and manager placed us away from all Appreciated the assistnace
Our meal was extremely pleasant, server was energetic and provided helpful input.
Our waiter was very nice and attentive but I wish the food was as good. Mediocre flavor would be the best comment I could give. My first and probably will be last visit to Legal.
Can’t go wrong with the seafood dishes here. Wish we got to sit outside, but still had an enjoyable experience.
The restaurant is beautiful, open, and very clean. The large windows make it feel very open. The server was attentive. The menu is abbreviated but the chowder is great! Overall nice experience.
Ample outdoor seating options. I had their classic Anna's Baked Scrod. Delicious as always. Brewed ice tea like I had growing up. Our server was attentive and super pleasant.
Thank you to Legals on the Mystic! We celebrated my parents 57th wedding anniversary and the manager, Colin, greeted them and treated my mom & dad like royalty ( the waitstaff too) They are still talking about their delicious meal and memory. A++ experience !
we enjoyed ourselves very much...food, service, atmosphere and the inside dining was extremely comfortable in this covid 19 environment. well done
Cesar salad was very good with crab meat the only problem was the lettuce was Dr. Dr O Brien and Cesar salad should have a little bit lighter lettuce looks like they just took all the tops of the lettuce is and just cut them up and throw them in the salad we got to Adam and Eve about the same the food itself was good no work and no complaints on that
I have dined at many Legal Seafoods and now think this must be a sister to the higher ended Legal Seafoods I have been too before.
When we walked in we were seated a table in the middle of everything that had no certain style to it and was rather enthusiastic. The menu was small and that may be due to COVID and not their fault and they were "out of oysters" which was the main reason we came. I ordered a Grey Goose martini that was all vodka and not smooth and not even in a nice glass. My husband had the fried fish platter and we were grateful they made sure it was Gluten Free, so that was another positive. Our waitress was awesome and relaxed and attentive and funny, so was the sweet girl who delivered the food and checked twice to make sure his was gluten free! (thank you). I had the ahi tuna and jasmine rice with broccoli that was rather plain and bland and something I could have made at home. It was about $78 for dinner which is not appalling, but definitely a little high considering the simple dishes. I would not go again but have to say their staff was delightful.
The food was awful!
Food was great, service was slow. We told our server we weren't in any rush, but we had to ask for silverware, ask to have our water filled.
Great to be able to eat out. We just missed the pld menu options
Tasty seafood restaurant in Assembly Row near the Mystic River. Try the Signature combo platter with crab cake, shrimp, scallops, and seasonal salad. Calamari with peppers was perfectly cooked. Consistently good cooking and service. Part of the Legal Seafood group in case you have a gift card.
Water dripping on me from the ceiling. One of the light bulbs overhead flashing annoyingly. My first bad experience at a legal.
Great time! TY Cristian
Nice location and tables by the open windows were just like outdoor dining. RI calamari is very tasty.
The service was great; the food was almost up to their usual standard (my swordfish was very slightly overcooked). The pandemic cleaning and precautions were very well executed. Lovely ambiance for an early dinner on a sunny day, sitting by a window. The menu is a little short compared to the "traditional" Legals. But a delicious, relaxed dinner on a holiday afternoon.
The open windows make the fresh air come in. Which is nice when you want to be indoors and still have the feel of being outside.
I recently dined at Legal at Mystic/Assembly Row. Pre-pandemic, it was a no brainer and a go to spot for my partner and me. Now with Corona, the menu is limited, removing some of my personal favorites. I opted to have the baked sole, as the fish plate options were limted to that, tuna and salmon. They did not have mashed potatoes, or green beans, so I had to get broccoli and rice for my sides. Needless to say, I only ate the fish. The rice was boiled/steamed white rice with no flavor, and the same for the broccoli. The fish was also only ok, and only the parts with bread crumbs were the tastiest. I was very disappointed in the menu and the fact that my meal alone cost about $26. I felt like I paid just for the fish, because the rice and broccoli did not make the meal worth the cost or worthy of the legal seafood brand. I will not be returning until the menu is restored, which probably means not until COVID is over.
The food and service were equally subpar, almost scary bad. Compared to other Legal Seafoods in the area this Assembly Square facility was the worst I have ever dined at. Nope, I won’t be back. Where is Roger Berkowitz when you need him?
We had a great table inside with windows upon. Our waitress was very nice. Was a pleasant and relaxing place for lunch.
Covid times (9/2020): Legal on the Mystic lunch outside: We each had a mug of the clam chowder. It was delicious but a bit tepid right out of the kitchen. One of us had the lobster roll (with mayo), side of fries and coleslaw. Generous portion of chunky, fresh lobster in a nicely toasted top split roll. Fries and coleslaw were great. The other of us had the whole belly clams appetizer as a main (skipping the fries/coleslaw). These were so good. Definitely a good pick!
The only down side was that we ate outside and the tables are small and no one cleared our rolls/butter plates or the clam chowder and the entrees came and we had to clear the table to make room for the entrees. Definitely awkward. Lots of staff waiting so think they should be more attentive to space on the tables before the entrees come out. Otherwise, good service (water, drinks) and nice staff.
Service was great! Made our reservation through Open Table and were seated right away! Food was delicious! I highly recommend the cucumber jalapeño margarita!
Excellent meal, as usual. I was dissapointed that I could not change my side vegetables. The dish I usually get comes with spinach. Although they had spinach on the menu, they said I could not substitute. Maybe it's because of the pandemic, I'm not sure but I have never had a problem switching out side items before. Other than that, the food and service was delicious.
We enjoyed our meal. I work in hospitality so I understand anything less than 5 stars brings down scores so I would not do that but we did feel very rushed during our meal. The food was great but our server definitely made us aware that it was time to go and we felt very rushed. There were still other diners at tables.
Service was great. Food was delicious. The manager and his team was very accommodating.
The staff was very accommodating and the service was great! Of course , the food was good.
I haven’t been here in a little while, but it was not as good as I remembered it last time. I think the menu was also changed a little bit. Still, very good but not the most memorable meal for sure.
Never a bad meal at Legal's. It was so nice to get out of the house to dine at a place that takes all the necessary precautions for COVID-19. A big shout out to our server Gabby, she was an excellent listener and all-around great waitress. Thank you Gabby!!
First time going in daylight and the place looked pretty run down and dirty. We were placed in a booth that was definitely within 6' of the next person. Also, directly behind me was a work station for the servers, so they were constantly about one foot behind me putting plates in bus bins and keying in orders. Not only were they very close to me but it made it very loud. I wouldn't go back.
Great service and food as always. Thank you for taking such good care of us and my sons allergies.
The limited menu is understandable but still disappointing. The food was just average which is unusual for a Legal Seafood location. Service was good. Wish there were umbrellas on the outdoor tables.
Excellent as always
