Legal Harborside – Floor 2 Dining Room
I was seated and then .....ignored for 25 minutes !
The waitress ignored me
This is the first time I have ever left a restaurant before food !
We knew Legal Seafood offered one of the better Boston seafood dinners, and the Floor 2 Dining Room adds elegance to the experience. We were celebrating our daughter's birthday, and Legal gave us a nice standalone table one row removed from the windows overlooking the Boston harbor (the Floor 2 Dining Room offers several long "shared" tables as well, so best to request your preferred type of table). Our table setting included a handwritten birthday greeting for our daughter, and our meal included a free slice of chocolate cake with candle and edible card. Our waiter - Edward - was outstanding in every respect. He (and the maitre d') accommodated my wife's mild food allergies with recommendations and modifications, and checked on the progress of our meal regularly (but not too much). He kept our wine and water glasses full, and the wine bottle on ice throughout the meal. He answered several questions about the menu that required an in-depth knowledge of the offerings. Afterwards, Edward made sure we had our valet ticket validated (I wouldn't have thought to ask). I cannot think of any aspect of our Legal experience that could have been better. We were surrounded by what appeared to be important business/social gatherings of people, but our modest birthday celebration was given no less respect. That statement in itself may be what sets Legal Seafood apart from the competition.
Our server, Nikki was very informative and funny. Joel, the sommelier knew what we would like better than we did!
Lobster was undercooked. Roe was still black and bloody.
GM offered us dessert. We said could we have latté instead. He said sure no problem. Still lattés were charged. Had to get that fixed as well.
The table behind us left for problems with their lobsters as well. At market price and reputation of this restaurant, I think the person at the pass should have checked more thoroughly.
It's a shame because I had been to this location 3 years ago and was very pleased. We flew from Montreal, me and my girlfriend for this meal to Boston. High expectations for this diner were definatley not met. It saddens me because I know this restaurant can do so much better.
Great place with a wonderful view. Food and service were just ok.
This was an amazing experience! My mum and I were visiting Boston from Vancouver, Canada for her 60th birthday. When we got to our table there was a happy birthday note waiting for us. It was such a thoughtful touch! The service was wonderful and the food was exceptional. Every bite was an amazing experience. Thank you Legal Seafood Harbourside for a fantastic birthday dinner - we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
The Lobster Roll was horrible - no real lobster pieces just scraps cuts from the claw meat tips. The WORST!
The location and view was amazing however I do wish that I was closer to the window which is not the staff’s fault as the booths by the window were already taken. The waiter seemed to not pay much attention to us where we were sitting and waiting quite a few times and even put empty plates at the edge in hopes to get attention. As someone who has serving experience we didn’t feel very welcomed. The food was good, not the most excellent but still quite good.
This is a remarkable and unique location with remarkable food and excellent service--it is not to be missed. I had the best piece of swordfish I have ever tasted--an 18oz. swordfish chop--wow! My wife's grilled halibut surrounded by lobster chunks also was wonderful, as was my lobster bisque. It was the gastronomic highlight of our trip to Boston.
Delicious food and beautiful view
A solid and reliable “go to” fo a business lunch with a sea view and without much hustle bustle.
Wonderful place to enjoy a cocktail and some delicious seafood! We enjoyed handcrafted cocktails while we waited for our window table.
Fantastic food, great atmosphere but not too noisy, staff lovely and views great. We'll definitely go back
Great Servive, food and the view. Only downside was the parking in that area.
Service was superb.
Great food and great service.
In a word, disappointing. The menu sounded very ambitious and interesting. I love Legal for high-quality fish and simple excellent preparation. Was excited for the step up. Not better, even putting aside the higher price -- rather, it felt like generic "fancy food" with lots of pretty sauces but not as good taste or preparation. Sea bass came with 2 kinds of mushrooms, one really good and the other super tough. Scallops with avocado something were so oversalted I had to send them back, and were also undercooked. Avocado and all other flavors lost under the salt etc. Appetizers were better. Wine list a highlight -- many interesting and fairly priced bottles with lots of info.
Would go back for drinks but not for dinner.
The second floor was recommended for our lunch but it turns out the first floor is much better. We were one of two parties up there. I think it was the first day for the waiter we had. He was pretty bad. The food was just ok nothing special that's for sure. If we return we'll make sure to ask for the first floor.
We are big fans of Legal sea food in general, but as me and my wife begin to explore Boston proper, it was a news to us that menu's on the first floor and second floor are different. We loved the setting, the views from second floor harborside but we both agree that we prefer menu from the first floor better. Server was just ok.
One potentially negative comment- we felt that toward the end of our dinner, place in general was getting little to loud for our comfort.
We definitely be back. On the both floors.
Excellent service. Very attentive staff.
Our server was outstanding, sorry, do not recall her name.
This was an excellent dining experience. The staff was attentive (even prepared a classy placecard as birthday greeting for one of the guests and later surprised us with a piece of wonderful birthday cake/fudge). Fantastic scallops, salmon, EVERYTHING. This was truly a highlight and comparable to fine European standards (but at a better value). A MUST for the discriminating fine dining guest.
Sitting Outside it was a beautiful View over harbour and Airport
and the Dining and Services were extraordinaire
I had 12:30 reservations the day my son graduated from Wentworth Institute of Texhnology. As the ceremony went on I didn’t think we would make our reservation so the restaurant said to call if I was going to be late or they would charge each guest 25.00 per person if we didn’t show up or if we were late with no call. So I called and said I would be 30 minutes late the hostess said that we only had the table until 2:15. So we got there only 15 minutes late and we told our waiter and he couldn’t believe the waitress said that and he said not to worry. They would figure something g out if we went pst 2:15. It just so happens that we were well out of there by 2:00. The food was delicious. No option meals for my vegetarian daughter so she had a salad and truffle fries. They did surprise us with. FlourleSs truffle cake that said Congratulations on the plate for my son. So I thought that was very nice! Waiter was excellent! View was beautiful! I would go again!
We chose this restaurant because of proximity of our hotel and we are very glad we made the right decision.
We booked the restaurant through open door and I used my points however when I contacted the restaurant they said I did not have a reservation for that time but 8:45. Thankfully as it was my birthday and my anniversary they were able to accommodate us
The food was excellent. I had the swordfish and my wife had the salmon although she did say the peas risotto was the star of the dish.
If we come back to Boston I would definitely go back to Legal.
It is quite expensive but if it is a special occasion to me it is well worth the visit.
Outstanding view! Great food and service. You don’t feel rush at anytime. On the expensive side but well worth it. Grilled octopus was Fantastic as well as swordfish. Will certainly repeat
Service was great
Good was very good
Very attentive to dietary restrictions
Gave us a birthday card signed by the staff, very cute
Had a wonderful meal, perfectly prepared, fresh, large portions. Fabulous service and a perfect view.
The food and view were amazing. Our service and the atmosphere of the restaurant were terrific.
My favourite place I have eaten in Boston. Have an allergen specialist and loads of gluten free options.
Very disappointing - my fish was overcooked and not flavored well. I could have easily made a better dish at home. At over $40 for an entree this is completely unacceptable. Also, the service was incredibly sloppy and slow...especially at such a high price point! I will definitely not be back.
Waiter was excellent,
Great recommendations, very friendly,
Would definitely return for special occasions
Love the location and the ambiance. We started on the 3rd floor for drinks then moved to the 2nd floor but the menu was too abbreviated so we moved to the 1st floor and enjoyed it all!
We have been wanting to visit this particular Legal for a while and the view did not disappoint. It is part of the newer developments in Seaport but it was not very crowded on a Sunday lunch in August, I think this would be my preferred time as we had a leisurely and lovely meal. The food was generally very good, I wish they had more readily available vegetarian or vegetable options to compliment the seafood. I had the crab roll, which was delicious but I wish I had a lighter side salad/vegetable to pair with. My husband is a vegetarian and they accommodated him with the one (albeit pretty delicious) dish they had. The host staff was a bit aloof but our server was friendly and very knowledgeable. My late father had been an avid fan of Legal Seafoods, advertising it around the world (he was from Turkey) with the 'If its not fresh, it's not Legal' slogan and it was a great day and meal in his memory. The second floor was great for the view and it was quiet. The first floor seemed more informal and lively. We would definitely go back here, we would be even more likely if they had more vegetarian options.
Food was excellent, the view was terrific - only downsides were: (1) the noise level - it was difficult to carry on a conversation, and (2) seemed to take a very long time for our main courses to be served - our waiter seemed to be stretched very thin.
One of the best burgers I’ve ever had..... the Tuna Burger!
We loved our experience on Floor 2 of Legal Harborside! Our server, Mike, was extremely knowledgeable and attentive, and took the time to make sure everything was exactly how we wanted it. Our water glasses were never empty thanks to our backwaiter. The manager Dave even stopped by to assure the meal was going well. Overall a night we will always remember, and we will always recommend Floor 2. Can't wait to come back soon!
Our meal and celebration was excellent. The food was delicious; service outstanding and view magnificent. Thank you!
The ambiance, food and staff were wonderful. We cannot wait to come back!
This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences of our 6 years together. The view was great, the appetizers very good. My wife ordered the lobster and was shocked when it came out with the tail having been shredded into some form of stuffing. My filet came out with sauce on it, something I wasn't expecting given the menu showed sauces as extras. The bus boy seemed surprised that my wife left a $65 entree almost untouched as he asked if something was wrong. I mentioned she was very disappointed with it. It became apparent that this was a place where questions are asked but the answer not really of concern. The waiter never said a word and we left very dissatisfied. We take some of the blame for not asking how things were prepared, but we thought that such a deviation in preparation for a whole Maine lobster shifted the burden to the server and establishment. For a $300 evening for two, we left quite dissatisfied.
